One of the areas that survivors have set up camp. All areas outside of shelters. Look for specific threads for inside the survivor's tents/shelters. The following survivors have a shelter in this area: 1. A.J. 2. Alice & Hamilton 3. Ben Henry 4. Billy 5. Brittany 6. Cyrus 7. Elliot 8. Erica 9. Ethan 10. Gwen 11. Heidi 12. James Woodhouse 13. Jin & Sun 14. Little Sarah 15. Nadia Santos 16. Nikki & Paulo 17. Noah 18. Sakura 19. Severin 20. Tusti 21. Walter Location found in box G3 below: Each box is 3 miles by 3 miles. It takes an hour to walk 3 miles. But also keep in mind that hiking (like that really steep hill to get to higher ground) will take a heck of a lot longer and that if you're running (like from some jungle thing), that you'll get somewhere faster.

"'Bout two hours," she said as she took a seat after Paul's encouragement to join them. As a flight assistant, she was used to addressing big groups of people but those people rarely ever listened as everyone assumed it could never happen to them. But it did happen to them and now she had everyone's undivided attention. She wrapped her arms around her drawn up knees feeling a slight discomfort at the intent gaze of everyone. Pushing past those feelings, she took on the mannerism expected of flight attendants who'd gone through training; calm, cool, collected. If you panic, the passengers panic. "We lost communication 'bout six hours in; we were turning back, heading toward Fiji. 'Round two hour later, we hit turbulence."

She'd wandered up and listened to the conversation over the map. When Aaron made mention of the plane changing course, the scene replayed again in her head of the events from the pilot notifying the flight crew of communications problems on up to the crash. She came out of her thoughts and replied with a very delayed "It did" in her obviously Australian accent. At the confused looks she clarified. "The plane did change course."

It was easy to be hypnotized into a deep thought by the incredible silence of everything accept the peaceful sound of the waves lapping at the shore. The spell was broken however when the faint sound of a muffled voice seemed to carry over almost as if it was echoing off the water. I leaned up on my elbows and looked toward the camp with curiosity and saw a small group forming with more people joining.
I sat up and dropped the pendant of the necklace back to hanging freely around my neck then got up and started heading over. "Now what's happening?" I mumbled to myself. The cool breeze against my face made me aware of the moisture of a few tears that had eventually made their way out while I'd been lost in thought. I quickly wiped away the evidence of them as I walked, not sure if my eyes were still a little red from crying. It was dark out... most likely nobody would notice, especially since their attention would be on whatever was going on.

I watched her leave, my expression sad on her behalf. I wished there was something more I could do but it was just something that had to work itself out over time.
As for me, I wasn't ready to go back to the main camp areas. It was quieter here and I needed time to clear my head and let my guard down. If I didn't give in to the sadness of missing everyone back home, of the depression of the serious lack of the comforts I was used to, I'd eventually have a breakdown and probably in front of a huge crowd of people. Definitely not something I'd want to happen. Everyone back home frequently made comments of 'Heidi is always smiling' and 'she's always in such a good mood' which is how I wanted people to see me. I saved any brooding and tears for a time when they were not seen by anybody else.
I grabbed a nearby clean towel and laid it out on the sand then settled down to gaze at the stars while fiddling with the long chain of the necklace I'd been keeping safely tucked under my shirt. I pulled the necklace free and looked at the small pendant holding a little round picture. I could barely make out the two figures in the light of the nearest bonfire but it didn't matter as the image was one that was burned into my mind. I felt a catch in my breath and tears pricking the back of my eyes.

"No, I didn't," I said shaking my head. "But I wasn't all alone. I had... have a sister. 'Course we didn't always get along but at least we had each other to talk to."
It sounded like she'd had a rough time growing up if Mr. Floppers was the one who helped her through it all. But how do you explain to a child that the voice of Mr. Floppers was her imagination and therefore she'd gotten through it all by herself, by her own strength? That was very admirable and not something she would understand until she was older. I would have to reassure her a different way. "You might not be able to hear him anymore but I'm sure he's listening just as intently as he always has and wishes that you could hear him tell you everything's going to be okay." I held out Mr. Floppers to her. "Come on, give him a big hug. I'm sure it'll make you both feel much happier," I said smiling.

"Oh..." Any of her other voices? Goodness, how many voices did the child hear? "I... I'm sorry, sweetheart. I don't know what to tell you," I said with a frown as I shook my head. I continued to comfortingly run a hand over her hair. "It might just be because you're growing up. It happens to everyone who has those special friends only they can hear." I was quiet for a minute as I racked my brain for any childhood memories I could recall. "But at least you did hear him for a while. I don't think I ever had any special friends like Mr. Floppers and who knows, maybe he'll be back." I was no child psychologist but I guessed the chances of an imaginary friend returning were slim. Didn't mean I had to completely destroy any hope or bring the poor kid down anymore.

"But... he's right here," I said as I ran a hand over her hair. I could have sworn Sarah had glanced over at Mr. Floppers several times. Was I missing something or just losing it? I leaned over to the right to grab hold of him and bring him over. "See?"

The last of the sunlight was gone and we'd started to work by the beginning of the moonlight but it just wasn't bright enough. I leaned back and brushed some loose strands of hair out of my face with the back of my hand and winced at the kinks I felt in my back and neck after crawling around in the sand working on the castle for the last few hours.
"Okay hun, I think that's enough for today." I brought my legs around to the front and sat indian-style facing Sarah. I hadn't brought up her earlier tantrum since the one time I'd asked when first arriving to witness her throwing a rock at Arzt. She was too upset at the time to talk about it and so I had decided on going the route of getting her calmed down first. "You ready to talk about what happened today?"

MICHAEL
Michael's steps slowed as he approached Walt, curiously watching as he used some plant to brush his teeth. "Who taught you that?"
WALT
Walt briefly stopped brushing his teeth with the aloe plant. "Sun. The Korean lady." He scooped up some ocean water to rinse his mouth when Michael stopped him.
MICHAEL
"Don't swallow it," he quickly said when he realized what Walt was doing.
WALT
Walt looked at him curiously, head slightly tilted. "Why not?"
MICHAEL
"Ocean water will make you thirsty."
WALT
How could water make you thirsty? he wondered. "Why?"
MICHAEL
He gave an exasperated sigh. If he gave an explanation it would only lead to 100 more and he didn't feel like giving a science lesson right now. "Just don't swallow it, man, all right?"
He gave a smile of approval at Walt's nod happy that Walt and stopped fighting him at every turn. Walt rinsed his mouth and spit the ocean water out. Michael wiped his face with the damp cloth.
SUN
Sun sat next to Jin and watched with a smile as Walt took advantage of her lesson on using the aloe plant to brush his teeth. It was nice to feel useful.
JIN
Noticing his wife's attention was elsewhere, Jin reached out and touched Sun's chin, his thumb brushed her lips. She looked at him and pulled away a little. He grudgingly put his hand down.
"Look at your lips," he said with concern in Korean. "You really need water."
SUN
She nodded and answered back in Korean. "No. I'm all right. Thank you." Her attention now back to what she'd been doing, she continued folding the clothes. Jin moved away and around her. "When will someone tell us what to do?" she called after him.
He turned to look back at her, making a sound to signify he hadn't heard her. She looked at him, her fear on her face. "I don't think anyone is coming."
JIN
"Someone will come," was all he said.
SUN
His words were not comforting, not that he seemed like he was even trying to be comforting. "The others ... they ignore us. If we tried harder to communicate ..."
JIN
He interrupted her. "We'll be fine. We don't need anyone else." After a brief pause, he added, "I will tell you what to do." He looked at her as if waiting for her to question him. Sun averted her gaze and did not further dare to question her husband, as she was becoming more and more accustomed to.

Geez, what's wrong with me? Why I can't I get over getting so nervous around some people? "What?" I said finally looking back up at him. I'd registered the fact he'd said something and it took a moment for what he'd asked to sink in. "Oh no, nothing interesting. Just... lost in thought for a second there. I should--or rather, we should hurry. Probably wondering what's taking me so long."
With the knife and plate in hand, I started to lead the way back to the group.
