"Nope that's it. But if he starts to develop a rash or gets a fever call out for me right away, alright?"
"Yes, of course. Thanks very much, Jack," she said. "And please do be careful out there. We don't need anyone else getting hurt."

"Yes, thank you very much, Jack." he nodded with a grateful smile.

JACK
"And please do be careful out there. We don't need anyone else getting hurt."
Jack smiled and nodded as he understood he request completely. "Well I'll do my best thank you." Jack looked over to Severin, "You need anything just call out for me alright?" Jack nodded to them both as he exited the tent.

She said goodbye as the doctor departed, then settled onto the sandy floor of Severin's shelter. "So Dr. Jack seems to think you'll live," she said. "Does he think you'll be walking again anytime soon? 'Cause if I have to keep doing the room service run..."

"I wouldn't worry. Jack tells me I should be back on my feet in a week." he said, turning his attention back to his food.
"So, needless to say, you won't be needing a maid outfit anytime soon." he continued, holding his banana.

"I should hope not. What is it with you boys and uniforms?" she asked, shaking her head with a wry smile as she looked through her backpack and produced a bottle of water, twisting off the top. "Jack's taking a group out into the jungle today. Apparently he found a source of fresh water," she said, not sure how much he knew of what had happened the previous night.

"I should hope not. What is it with you boys and uniforms?"
"I didn't mean that, I meant a uniform for...procedural duties." he said hastily and sincerely. "I wasn't thinking about that." Although now it was in his head. The mental image, and he needed to banish it. He dropped his banana.
"Besides, I do recall you mentioning something about Sean Bean and a pilot's uniform, so I think this may be a case of the pot calling the kettle black." he pointed out.
"Jack's taking a group out into the jungle today. Apparently he found a source of fresh water,"
"He did?" asked Severin, raising his eyebrows. "It appears he's now our official leader, for whatever time we have left here."

"Besides, I do recall you mentioning something about Sean Bean and a pilot's uniform, so I think this may be a case of the pot calling the kettle black."
"Fair enough," she agreed. "But you are cute when you're flustered, Darling."
"He did? It appears he's now our official leader, for whatever time we have left here."
"Well, I suppose we could do worse. Jack's a decent, caring man. Provided he doesn't run off into the jungle again without telling anyone," she said.

"Fair enough, But you are cute when you're flustered, Darling."
"I am?" he asked. "That's...interesting. It could explain a great deal in how all my previous girlfriends seemed to strive to make me flustered..."
"Well, I suppose we could do worse. Jack's a decent, caring man. Provided he doesn't run off into the jungle again without telling anyone,"
"Yes, that would be beneficial." he noted. "And a great deal less worrying if he restrained from it."
He began to peel the banana. "I'm feeling...slightly more sociable today. It's most likely due to the painkillers, though. I took an extra one just an hour or so ago before going back to sleep." he said. "Perhaps highly disturbing dreams are a side effect..."

"Trust me, you don't need the pills to have highly disturbing dreams," she said. "Every time I close my eyes, I feel...as if I'm being haunted. I don't know how to explain it. It's just...odd."
She shook her head and smiled pleasantly. "Anyway, Jack gave this whole big speech last night about living together or dying alone. So they're off to find more water, John will probably be going on another boar hunt soon. They're still divvying up other duties so...seems like people are getting used to the idea of a long-term stay."

A look of concern and empathy crossed his face. Haunted. Yes, he knew that feeling.

"Perhaps that's for the best. We may be here for a few days longer than we thought..." he said slowly, careful not to mention that rescue was looking more and more uncertain.

"And to think of all those times I used to dream of an extended stay on a tropical beach. Guess I should be careful what I wish for from now on," she remarked with a sigh. "It's a big island, right? If I should wish to avoid certain people...like Dr. Arzt. I fear he'll be rather upset when he finds I've killed Rodriguez."

"Rodriguez?" he asked, confused. "You 'killed' Rodriguez?"

"A couple of days ago, I sort of...taught Arzt some Spanish phrases, which were less than flattering, to use on Ana-Lucia. Ana retaliated by taking one of his insects and putting it in my tent. But Ray found it and promptly killed it," she explained. "And when I took that caterpillar to Arzt yesterday in order to apologize, I found out that whatever that thing was, its name was Rodriguez. So if he finds out I'm an accomplice to an insect murder, he's likely to be very cross with me. So you can't tell him," she urged, realizing how ridiculous all of this might sound.

He managed to keep his stern, serious expression for roughly three seconds as he nodded. Than, he burst out laughing. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry...." he said, still laughing. "It just sounds so insane. As if you'll be sent down for insect murder. Send you to an arthropod penitentiary for murder of a Hispanic caterpillar."

"It's not funny, Severin," she chided. "I mean, there was no premeditation, no malice aforethought. So I suppose the worst I could get is...second degree insecticide," she claimed semi-seriously, and then burst out laughing as well.

He closed his eyes, laughing. He opened them again, tilting his head to look directly at Gwen.
"Well, Ray might be the one to go down since he was the murderer, you were the kidnapper. I'm sure Arzt could get Ana to do some forensics..." he chuckled. "Well, I'm sure Arzt will get over the loss of Rodriguez. He hopefully won't go into mourning."

"Oh, Ray wouldn't last very long in prison. He despises orange, for one," she said, still laughing slightly. "Anyway, I'm hoping that caterpillar I gave Arzt yesterday will earn me some goodwill. He said it was a...an Emperor Gum moth," she tried to recall. "And he said something about finding plant and animal species that you wouldn't expect to find here. I've no idea what to make of that."

"Nor do I." he said with a shrug, and began to split his mango. "At least he's keeping himself occupied. Although I feel you and I could do with a bit of boredom soon enough..."

"Yes, a lovely and completely uneventful day would be wonderful," she nodded in agreement. "And give you more time to work on your drawing."
