***Pryce and Aldo enter***
RYAN PRYCE
The nursery was, for now, stripped completely bare. A barren, empty room with a pair of chairs strewn on the floor. Pryce roughly tossed the girl down onto the ground, and snapped open one of the chairs and took a seat. He looked over to Aldo with slight contempt. "Go help the others."
Aldo fidgeted uncomfortably. "Oh, ok. What are you going to do?"
"I'm going to wait here until she wakes up. Make sure she doesn't make a run for it. Now get to it!" snapped Pryce.
"OK, I'm going!" whined Aldo, turning and heading out the door. Pryce sighed deeply and ran a hand back over his balding head.

***Ben enters Preston's home***
"So, she got here last night?"
"Yes."
It seemed Preston only wanted to give one word answers, with a slight attitude attached. The game was becoming tiring. Preston was currently seated, while Ben stood, his arms crossed with a dissatisfied look on his face. "And you decided not to tell anyone, you just...kept her around? Why, did you need someone to play checkers with?"
"I kept her here for observation. I was on my way to tell you when she tried to escape."
"Considering you didn't have a shirt at the time, I doubt that. Secondly, you shouldn't have waited until morning."
"Benjamin-"
"No excuses, Preston. Don't let anything like this happen again. What do you think would've happened if she'd escaped? What if she found your taser, your gun, your walkie? I can think of a number of unwanted situations that could've erupted from this one girl." growled Ben, becoming visibly angry. "Next time you decide to-"
The walkie crackled to life. "Ben, she's awake. I'm in the Staff watching her." He turned away from Preston, signalling with a hand for the doctor to stay quiet. "Good. I'm coming now. Keep an eye on her."
He turned back to Preston as he took his hand off the walkie. "We'll continue this later. In the meantime, start pulling your weight and get to the Arrow."
He turned, and reached for the doorknob. Suddenly, he felt a powerful hand on his arm, and he was twisted around to face Preston. He stared up at the doctor, but not with fear. Yes, he was being confronted by a taller, stronger man. But Ben was not afraid. "Are you taking her to the cages?"
"I don't know yet, Preston. Take your hand off me."
"If you do, I want to be there. I want to keep my eye on her. She's my project, I found her."
"Your project?" snarled Ben with a sudden vehemence. He rounded on Preston. Preston seemed to realize what he was doing, because his expression suddenly changed as if he was surprised at himself. He took several steps back. Ben advanced on him, and as he did, Preston took several steps back, frightened by the younger man. Ben spoke as he walked towards Preston, backing the younger man against a wall.
"Samantha Harkness is not your responsibility. She is not your project. She is not your pet. She is a survivor of flight 815 and as such she belongs to me. I will decide what is to be done with her, and with your current attitude you'll be lucky if you ever see her alive again. Understood, Dr Saint?"
Preston looked down at his feet. Pathetic. Like a child being lectured by a parent. He mumbled something incomprehensible. "I'm sorry, Preston, I didn't quite catch that...?"
"Donthurther."
"What?"
"There's no need to hurt her, for my mistake." Preston still didn't look up. Ben shook his head dismissively. Then, with a look of disgust, he turned right around and stormed out the front door.

"This man needs locking up! He's clearly a few breadrolls short of a picnic basket and he's kept me here overnight against my will, drugging me, man-handling me..."
He listened to her carefully, nodding his head. He looked at Preston for a moment, who nodded frantically. He looked back to the woman. "All right then. Don't you worry, we'll do something about that." he said, as if he knew that Preston was indeed a piece of work. He looked to Preston. "Preston, go back inside. Ryan and I will be talking to you shortly."
Preston sighed and rolled his eyes, before turning back inside.
"I am so, so sorry about Preston, he's had a...well, a bad childhood. You're from the plane, aren't you? Let's get you inside."

It wasn't every day a young woman waving a knife ran directly into you, but on the island, Ben realized he shouldn't suspected something strange as soon as he opened any door. "Oh...hello." he began, confused. He looked to a shirtless Preston who appeared in the doorway.

“Well Jackson five, Etta James, Elton john, basically I have a long list.”
EDMUND
In his experience, it was always best to let women talk when women are talking, but then perked up slightly. "Elton John. I have to admit, I'm one of his fans."

"For the most part, this soft, fat body of mine has survived relatively uninjured, but thank you for the concern." he replied, smiling again. "How are you? Has everything been going well?"

"I was visiting my son in Sydney. He married someone out there." he replied, folding two t-shirts. "So it's fortunate he wasn't on the plane. Even if he survived, I'm sure his worst nightmare would be to be stranded on an island with me."

"Ah. A true professional. Of course." he said. "And don't worry. I'm sure rescue will come soon enough. You might want to make the most out of this slight break...if it wasn't for all the tragic happenings that have been going on."

"Hallo, I'm Gwen. And actually I've met a few of the Yanks; they don't seem that bad,"
"A lovely name, and no, the Americans I've met so far have been perfectly nice."
"I'd be glad to put you to work, by the way. I'm just trying to sort things into different sizes and such. I'm not in the habit of going through the remains of the dead. I just...thought it might be helpful."
"Very wise, my dear. It is....very encouraging to see that many people are being assertive, doing things to help other people at a time like this." he said, not letting his smile fade. He opened a case, and began to sort through it.

"Mr. Linus, when you're finished here, I have a proposition for you. At your leisure, of course."
"What? Oh, yes, Paul. I'll speak to you when Juliet and I get back." he said quickly, turning back to Juliet.

"We have nothing to talk about, Ben,"
"Considering the circumstances, we have a lot to talk about. I believe a plane tearing apart in mid-air over our heads presents some very interesting topics of conversation." he said, catching up with her. "Besides, we have some time. It's important. Take a walk with me."

"Then send me! I had a first aid course with the Canadian Traffic Authority and I can blend in ... after all I blended in with you guys quite well ..."
"Is that an order?" snapped Ben, rounding on Aaron. "I just sent Cyrus and Goodwin. If I wanted to send you, I would've asked." He began growing impatient as Juliet moved further away. "Go talk with Tom, he'll give you something useful to do. And I can't talk right now."
Ben turned away from Aaron, walking quickly to catch up with Juliet. "Juliet. Juliet!"

"What's going on? Why don't you send our Preston to help with the wounded?"
Ben sighed inwardly. Aaron just didn't get it. He didn't understand. He turned briefly to Aaron. "Preston doesn't have experience with blending in. He might slip up. Cyrus and Goodwin do have experience."

Ben walked steadily over to Juliet, taking his time as he headed over to her. His eyes fixed on hers, and then drifted downward to the title of the book she was carrying. "So, I guess I'm out of the book club."

"Yeah, probably in the water,"
"You run and you can make that shore line in an hour." he said, and turned to another soldier. Cyrus. His eyes flickered about for a moment, and seeing no one else he thought suitable for a potentially dangerous mission (Danny was too hot-headed, Tom was needed) he spoke again. "Cyrus, get up there to that fuselage. There may actually be survivors..."
He looked back down at both of them. "And you're one of them. A passenger -- in shock -- come up with an adequate story if they ask. Stay quiet if they don't. Listen, learn, don't get involved. I want lists in three days. Go."

"Yeah?"
He was all business now. This was important. He was already formulating a plan in his mind for the new visitors. "Did you see where the tail landed?"

He moved past Juliet quickly, ignoring her. He looked up at the skin, not blinking as he saw the metal so many feet in the air tear apart like it was paper, breaking into three seperate pieces and falling. He knew instantly it was time to take action. "Goodwin." he said suddenly, and his head snapped down to face the tall man.
