Okay, since it seems like we're moving to Day Five shortly, I'll lay my cards out on the table now. On Day Five, I'm going to go through with my Grace-regains-her-hearing plot. I wanted to make it last longer, but these days are lasting a long time and I'm bored with having Grace have to wait for Gwen or write what she wants to say. She'll still do that when she regains her hearing, since she doesn't know how to speak.
I think she's going to freak out when she realizes that she can hear fully. It'll be sensory overload, you know? Grace hasn't heard since she was three. She doesn't know which sound to attach to what object or idea, like birds chirping or the wind in the trees. I was thinking that maybe someone could be there during her realization and subsequent freak-out, and be the person to figure out what the hell is happening? Also, once Grace gets accustomed to hearing again, I thought it would be cool if someone might teach her (or try, at least) how to speak again.
Yes, no? Any ideas you'd like to add?

Oh, decided to grace us with your presence again, have you? Then for goodness' sake, make a Mr. Friendly post so the Others can fast-forward to the Book Club meeting. They've been waiting for months...it seems. Sounds good, Grace. You know that the new guy, James, speaks sign language as well, right? So you won't always have to wait for Gwen when she's too busy swooning over Sayid. Er, I mean, doing various productive things elsewhere.

Hiya! I was directed to make a post here to swing this by everyone. At present, my character "Paul Steiner", is intended to be a member of The Others infiltrating the group of Survivors from the tail section of the plane. He was recruited by the Dharma Initiative for the express purpose of administration in Othersville and for his background in Sociology. Because of his confused nationality and unique upbringing, he finds himself mostly without an identity or a sense of belonging. Now that he has an opportunity to do something he feels to be meaningful on The Island, he identifies strongly with the place and with The Others. The Island is somewhere he can "belong". This means that he feels a strong sense of loyalty to Ben for being assigned to observe some of The Survivors. This all, of course, is flexible. But I would like to hear opinions on whether or not we could use another Other (especially one to off-set the strong anti-Ben camp ). Kosher? Or back to the drawing board for Paul Steiner's concept?

That all sounds swell and interesting. Since you're having him as one of the Others, feel free to PM me about any plots you want kept more or less secret, that are to do with the Others or any ideas you have.

An idea which occured to me a short time ago. "Lost" is full of puzzles, riddles and random cryptic messages. In keeping with this theme, I feel that it would be only appropriate to put posts of some of Paul's journal entries from the notepad he always brings around with him.
The ones that I've written will reveal some of Paul's more guarded thoughts about various Survivors and Others, but will be full of all manner of puzzles to occupy the time of anyone who is into that sort of thing. The entries could be written in the code of half-French and half-German that the character writes them in, but I feel that it would make the writing inaccessible to anyone who doesn't speak one or both of the languages. So they'll be written in English for the benefit of the reader.
I'll just need to figure out what would be the most appropriate place to post them to first.

Oh, love that idea! I think what would be best is if you have them in your character's profile and every time he writes something, make a post in the area he's writing it and link it to the post in your character bio. You can just label them as "JOURNAL ENTRY" so we don't think it's a flashback. I guess you could always make a new thread in the OOC section but then it would get lost among the OOC threads here and I wouldn't want that to happen. They could also be posted in the area threads where you post that he's writing it, but eventually, that'll get lost among all the character posts. You can, if you'd like, post it both in the area thread and in your character's bio. Does anybody else have anything like this they are doing or planning to do? Any other people have characters who will be frequently writing in journals? If we have several things like this, then it'd be worth creating another board labeled "The LOST RPG Experience". hehe, I kinda like that. It'd also be a good place to put the summaries of what happens each day. Speaking of, does anybody wish to create a summary of our days? I know we have at least day 1 done, but the other days? Anybody? I'll give ya two karma points for each day you make a summary for. I'm actually liking this "The LOST RPG Experience" idea. Other things we can include are things such as news reports, newspaper articles, etc, in regards to the crash as a way of being able to see what's happening off the island and back in the real world. Anybody who enjoys writing things like that, go for it! I can also put our Jay Leno interviews in that folder since our characters talk about the show. And maybe I can talk Gwen into playing the part of her and my favorite talk show host, Conan. *dangles Naveen Andrews in front of Gwen as incentive* ;D Meh, maybe it is too much to add another board. May get too cluttered. I could create a directory thread where I list those important things and link 'em... I'll just wait and get everyone's input because your opinions matter to me. One final note; please excuse my tired babblings.

also, didn't we at one time. I think this was a while ago say something about Making a thread for what's going on back home? (i'm tired is this making sense?) Because i remember typing out a flashback and making a comment about something, and you (heidi) said something like 'I think it would be cool to make a Thread so we know what's going to be going through the minds of the the Bf, Spouces, Family.. whatever... lol' something along those lines....
Anyways i like that idea i think it would be great, a special thread. we can place Island News in there and Jay leno, and Conan would be fun ! Come on Kristi you know you want too!!!!
And for Good Messure... "Pingu, go make me a Pie!"

So you want to me to interview celebs in the style of a tall, goofy redhead? Yeah, I think I can do that. Don't wanna' infringe on Pearl's territory, though; her show gives me good lead-in ratings...

lol, alrighty, so that's one person (Jinxy) who likes the idea of a new board for our news/off-island news/interviews, etc. And Gweny, I don't think Pearl would mind. That's like asking Jay Leno if he minds that there are other talk show hosts. We've all gotta be able to plug our show on as many talk shows as possible. This way also, we'll get to have two people interviewing at the same time. I'll even nominate Kate or myself to be the first on Conan. ;D And I'll do a "In the Year 2000" skit with ya, lol! Or perhaps a staring contest. I have all day tomorrow (Sunday) off if you wanna jump right in. ;D And for good measure to measure up against Jinxy's last comment, "Pingu, stop reading porn!"

A separate board would be pretty darn cool. I've started posting journal entries on my character's profile, so I could move them to this new board in a pinch.
On that note, if anyone wishes to try their hand at figuring out what the journal entries are about, feel free to PM me with your guesses/estimates/divinations and I'll reply to let you know how close the guess is to the truth.
Anyway, that's my bit for the moment.

Since Charlie and Jinx are probably the most famous people on Flight 815, do you think they'd do a segment on one of those entertainment shows like Extra or Access Hollywood, or in a magazine like US Weekly? Maybe I'm being too ambitious. But I did manage to grab some Conan screencaps tonight. Enough for several interviews with male and female cast members (with a little Photoshop magic). I'd love to talk to the people who haven't talked to Leno yet, as well as those actors we don't know so well like William Mapother, Michelle Rodriguez, Michael Emerson, etc. But since it was Heidi's suggestion, I think she should be first in the chair. So whenever you're ready, Mistress. Let's look into the future, all the way to the year 2000...

Lmao, I can't WAIT, Gwenybear! I've gotta head to work but I don't think I'm gonna work more than 8 hours today. I'm killin' myself here, lol, but I was so concerned about making enough because I really wanna buy a place. The boss and I worked out a payment plan, so all is shiny... but I'm going off topic here. I'll check to see if you're online when I get home tonight and the earlier I get my butt out of here, the earlier I'll be home! I'll be trying to think of some good "In the year 2000" skits. ;D

Just thought i'd give y'all a head's up on my plans for new girl Lady Samantha. Since she was seated in the front section of the plane, she'll had landed a long way off the beach survivors and no-where near the tallies. And considering Sarah stumbled out of the cockpit section on her own, I can't place her there either. So I'm going to post that she was thrown from the crashing plane somewhere in the vicinity of the Other's housing project probably about half a days walk away or something. The plan is that she wakes up on her own and sees no-one until she stumbles into the village and goes knocking on Preston's door thinking she's rescued. Since Juliet and Ben have left camp to go see Mikhail, the perimeter fence will have been deactivated so that at just the right time, Samantha's able to get into Othersville (and that's what they invented the word co-incidence for ). I won't spoil the rest of it for those who aren't involved, just wanted to say I'll likely be posting in places but not expecting a reply. Hope that made sense. ;D

About the Others, they'll be leaving soon, right? Does everyone need to make a leaving post, or can they just skip to the hydra?

Well, if there's no posting needing to be done between now and when they arrive on Hydra, then ya'll can skip over to the Hydra. But not all the Others are going, right? So if the Others who aren't going are fine with a time jump, then go ahead along with it.

Yeah, I mean Tom, Danny, Sofia and other Others. The majority of them, really, so Samantha thinks she's entered a ghost town.

I think it would be kosher. There would be a conversation which would need to take place between Ben and Paul before Paul wanders off into the jungle. But we could always flashback to it after the fact for the sake of expediency.
Either way, a time jump is ok.
