This is the place for the writers to discuss potential plot ideas for the RPG. Please keep in mind that these are only suggestions of the players and that a majority of the players must agree to an idea before it goes into effect. If it is a plot that directly involves a character, then the player of that character can decide if it's what they want to happen. Please keep things civil and be respectful of ideas your fellow players may come up with. Remember, this is a fun, stress-free place. Keep things on the topic of plots in this thread so that players don't have to weed through off topic posts. If you have a plot idea that you think will need a lot of discussion, you may create a new thread in the RPG Out of Character Discussions board.

Hello everyone! Hope you like the new setup for the RPG. I need everyone's opinion on how we should do things. Here are some questions: 1. When in the story should we start? With the crash or like we did with the first, when they're at the airport? 2. What areas should be created? The setup worked okay with the old RPG, but I'd like to do a better job at it this time. For example, the places where there were hundreds of posts, we need to break down those threads into smaller areas. I'd also like to be more specific or have a better description than the old ones (Deep Jungle East, Jungle Outskirts West, etc.). Okay, and some other things that I think we could improve on this time around. Please nobody take offense to my recommendations for improvement as we are all, including myself, guilty of most of these. First of all, we've been hopping around the entire island way to fast. Many of the places can take a day or even several days to get to. We should determine how long each place takes to go to and I'll create an official Travel Time thread. Anybody remember how long it took for the tailies, who were on the complete opposite side of the island, to get to the other survivors? I know we can find that answer in the episode of Season 2 called The Other 48 Days. Second, we need to keep the drama/events at a moderate and believable level. We had a million things happening just on the first day. Let's concentrate on character development, a specialty of the writers of the show and one of the major things that makes the show so good. Let's also try to slow down the relationships and develop them at a slower pace to make it more realistic and more meaningful. There were about 5 guys hankering after Kate on just the first day. Lucky girl, but remember to play your character as realistic as possible. Yes, many of us would love to jump some of the cast members, but think of them as real people and the situation as real life and remember most of us should be preoccupied with what just happened, what with the plane breaking apart and crashing, instead of thinking with our nether regions. ;D I think it's also important that we have an agreement of the majority of the players with any use of characters that are not taken, especially when it comes to the Others. In our old RPG, Ethan was exposed as what he really was way too early. He's too great of a character to spoil all the fun we could have with him. For those of us who are able to be online often, I know it can be hard waiting for people to respond but please be patient. You can pass the time by posting in the other threads and I'd love to see some more discussions on the show in the Season 1 and Season 2 section. Or, I could also use some help getting the information threads up to date (Character profiles with important information, getting the names and some info on all characters seen in flashbacks, names and information on all the books seen in the show, references to black and white or the numbers, etc.). I'm also willing to keep the old RPG threads unlocked for players to continue on to pass the time. Please reply with your comments on the above and add any new opinions you have to make this new RPG even better than the first.

I agree with everything you said. The main problem was that we were playing it in days, and pretty much everyone was impatient, especially me. Since one day in the RPG was equal to a month in real time, well....y'know. OK, Mistress, your questions: 1. Hard to say. I guess it's up to the majority, but I'm fairly indifferent. 2. I'd like to show you something, Mistress. carratas.proboards91.com/index.cgiThis is a very different way of RPing....it would almost mean more sub-boards, but it's truly an effective way of RPing. We have the sub-board, for, say, a dungeon. A person makes a thread, for either a convo to advance characters, or to open new plot lines. It is entitled with any old title that gives a clue to what's in the thread, and 'tags' the person they wish to immediatly speak with. For example, if I made the thread: Punishment that's fun (tag Mistress Spanks-a-lot) The Mistress would enter, do the convo, and after a short time it's open again. However, if we want a plot line or a convo with a different character that occurs a long while after the previous convo, we open a new thread: Plotline: Can't find the hand cuffs (tag Mistress Spanks-a-lot) New convo: I hate this stubborn stains (tag Mr Clean) Like that. How does it sound?

First of all, I can't stop laughing seeing all the times you're referring to me as mistress. Friggin' hi-larious! Okay, as far as the way that site has it set up (that's GuyverFan's forum! He did a great job on it), it is very nice, but wouldn't it be hard for people to follow along with so many sub boards and not to mention all the threads in the sub boards? Also, what if people start posting in older threads within the boards? It's a setup that works very nicely on a forum that's entirely dedicated to one RPG, but since we only have this board to work with, it might be confusing. I don't know, I could be totally wrong about this though. I'll leave this up for a vote with all the players. What does everyone think? Perhaps I should create a poll on it. It is a really nice setup though... Perhaps it will work out here?

I quite like that sort of set-up, although I honestly don't mind. I guess it's up to the people who play.

Mistress, as far as future plot points go, they could be tricky...they would have to be very character related, and we would really have to twist the show canon around...but we don't know what the hell's going on in the show, so uncovering new mysteries is more or less out....

Yes, I would agree with trying to keep the same mysteries as in the show (the monster, the hatch, the Others, etc.) and we need to all remember to not make it too science fiction since the writers have said numerous times that everything that happens on the show can be logically explained; there's no science fiction.

So how are we going to start the RPG off? I think i remember you saying you wanted it to be different. Oh i just had an idea, why don't you have it so the central ideas LOST, but then have extra mysteries with it. So you could start with a different mystery before the plane crashes?

I'm a bit confused as to how we're going to do this....hmmm......
I think a lot of the threads in the old LOST RPG (the titles, not the posts) are OK to be repeated. Obviously there would be different sections of the beach, but since the island is such a vast place, that's why I think the 'tag' type of forum would be best. It's drastic, but perhaps an overhaul of the site to make it a 'tag' forum? That's just my opinion, I think it would make everything neater and easier, or it could be just set on a new site.

I'm easy. Will go with the flow, not bothered either way with which style of board you guys choose. The only problem I have is being a tailie. Any sweet ideas?

Simple enough, you can just say she was in the front of the plane. We can make small changes like that.

I think I'll still have her wake up under water after they crash. Kinda like that, and no-one else from the front section seemed to have ended up in the sea, dispite the fact they crashed on the beach.

Okie dokie, she might have been near where the plane broke in two, her chair was ripped away and hit the ocean. Sound OK?
As for Ethan's introduction, I'd like to get him into it fairly quick, so perhaps someone sees him in the jungle, like Bernard saw Goodwin, and he has no choice but to go 'undercover'.

Sounds like a plan. I have ideas now.
I don't know what you guys did before about starting at the airport, but maybe we should just start from when they crash, otherwise Ethan might be waiting around for a while.

Or start 5 minutes before the crash, on the aeroplane and the island.

Can do, Might set it up that Ana had just got up from her seat at the back of the plane to go and look for Jack, so they could have that drink they talked about at the airport. That way, she's in the front section when they crash.

I want to start it off at the airport, but I'm not really that fussed... or aren't we discussing that anymore?

This all sounds good. I don't mind waiting for a bit, I have a secondary character, Hamilton, played by the man they call Jayne. Ana, you probably recognise him as the final baddie of Angel.....same name, same appearance, and he's a lawyer, but different characters.....I'm not stealing nuthin'. But yeah, five minutes from the crash, airplane convos sound fine. Good idea about the Jack-Ana scene too.

I'm assuming we have a Jack anyway. I think you said something to that effect.
