Juliet tried to maintain her composure as Sofia burst in, gun and mouth blazing. Clearly, the girl had never learned the meaning of discretion. And every syllable she uttered would only serve to put Samantha further on the defensive. Especially now that Sofia had announced the presence of other survivors. Earning Samantha's trust and cooperation would be even more difficult now.
"The lack of interpersonal skills also applies to some of the women in our community," she remarked to Samantha, with a wry smile, leaving Preston to deal with Sofia's latest tantrum.
"Listen, I know we might not be the best of friends, but I wouldn't shake a gun around for no reason, you lot should be flattered that someone in the teams looking out for you both because no one else is!"
"Well seeing as trying to make amends isn't working with you Preston is there any other way I can assist?"
"Much as we appreciate your enthusiasm, Sofia, there are several other people working on preparing this hatch for receiving any other survivors. I assure you Preston and I are perfectly capable of handling this situation," she stated. "Why don't you go and ask Ryan what sort of help he needs?"

SOFIA
She was amused that Juliet was being so nice to her, but again, she was in no mood for another argument
"Yeah well, like I said I wouldn't of got the gun out if I didn't think you lot were in trouble"
She turned back round to Juliet
"Ryan, Ryan? What's he doing here? Where is he? I never saw him earlier" she wondered

"Perhaps you should try busting through a few more doors and maybe you'll find him," she remarked. "Now if we might be allowed to continue our examination of Miss Harkness in peace..."

Sofia looked over a the so-called 'Miss Harkness', something didn't seem right abiout her. She seemed far too arrragont to be on side, but she knew about the 'examinations' and what hapened in them. And what would happen if something came into light, Sofia didn't really want to leave with things as they were, but she couldn't risk another ear bashing off Ben or anyone else, with the way things were.
I'll wait until he arrives then I'll help him with whatever he's doing? Have both of you got your walkies on?" she asked looking back at the woman infront of her and turned to whisper in Juliet's ear.
"I take it Ben knows about all of this, you don't want any checks done on her? " she waited for a response and looked back at Harkness to see if she was eavesdropping "Look I know were not the best of friend Jules, but just watch your back with her. And ask her if she knows any tall black men from the plane, afterall you don't want to end up like Chris or Gregory." she gave her a boosting pat on the back and went for the door.

"Ben's the one who asked that she be brought to the Staff; he's well-aware of the situation. And I'm sure he'll decide who asks her what and when. Our concern is in maintaining the health of a plane crash victim, not interrogation or threats."
As the young woman walked toward the door, she added, "Oh, and Sofia, if you ever burst into my exam room uninvited again, you will be on permanent rock-breaking duty at the Hydra. Is that understood?" If Sofia insisted on carelessly throwing around details within earshot of their new guest, she might as well drop a few more bread crumbs. Nothing too significant, just enough to be slightly disorienting.

SOFIA
Sofia looked back at Juliet, yes it was too good to be true, Juliet could lastno longer than five minutes without making some sort of comment. She approached Juliet and mumbled to her
"Since when did you give me orders Juliet? And since when did I have to follow them, your not in charge of me and you cannot tell me what to do. The only person I take orders from are Ben and Jacob. Leave your walkie on, becuase the next person breaking down the door won't be me."
She walked back to the door and nodded at Preston .
"Hope you'll find something useful."

Saint stared after her. Clearly, one of the stupidest people on the planet. He looked at Juliet. "I take it she doesn't know you do give her orders." He sighed, crossing the room. "What with you being her superior and all."
He unfolded his arms, and looked at Samantha. "I apologize for that sudden outburst of Sofia's. She's under control, she just doesn't understand."

SAMANTHA
Samantha had almost started to relax a little when the sudden entrance of a gun wielding woman put her back on full alert. Price had flashed a gun at her earlier and that had scared her, but having one pointed in your face was another matter entirely. If her blood pressure had been a little bit high already, by now it must be skyrocketing.
She froze in place, eyes wide at the barrel of the gun, wondering why these people felt the need to carry them in the first place. What was so dangerous about this island that they needed weapons?
For the entire time the other woman was in the room, Samantha kept silent and still, not daring to move or speak for fear that Sofia would interpret her actions as something else and randomly shoot her. So when she did finally leave the room, Samantha let out a long held breath.
"I apologize for that sudden outburst of Sofia's. She's under control, she just doesn't understand."
"She's under control!?!" Samantha said incredulously. "I think you need to re-exmine your definition of under control."

"She's under control!?! I think you need to re-exmine your definition of under control."
"Your safety is a high priority for us." he stammered quickly. "Sofia will not be allowed near you again. I promise."

"And if only the rest of us could be so lucky," she remarked. "Heartbeat and respiration appear to be normal, by the way." She then shined the otoscope into Samantha's inner ears and then her eyes. "Since the crash, have you experienced any headaches, dizziness, blurred vision, acute pain? Symptons that weren't an aftereffect of the tranquilizers or tasers..."

"I had a bit of a headache after I crashed, but I think that was just from the sudden drop in altitude and a trip through a tree before landing. It didn't last long." Samantha shifted her weight and wondered how long she'd have to stay here before they decided what to do with her.

Preston became lost in thought once more as he watched Juliet give Samantha a physical. If the situation weren't so serious and worrying, it would almost stir pervy thoughts in his mind, watching the two of them. As it was, he was just growing more and more scared. Three bad things could happen. Samantha could die from her apparent pregnancy. Ben could have her killed because she wasn't useful. Or Ruby could shoot her for no reason.
True, Samantha had been very rude to him. But the circumstances excused her, and it was sad when anyone died. He then realized he was staring at Samantha's face, and quickly blinked, averting his eyes. This was bad. This was a disruption in routine, which was bad. And he couldn't help feeling sorry for the people around him.
Samantha would likely not ever leave the island, or she would die. That was sad, and he wished he could prevent it, even if she has a person was rapidly losing points with him.
And Juliet. Beautiful Juliet, whose reasons were rumored to be so noble, was as trapped as anyone else by Ben. It was a very sad set of circumstances.

"Well, that's an encouraging sign," she smiled. "Preston, if you'd be kind enough to get a blood sample from Miss Harkness? Trust me, he's much better at this than I," she assured Samantha. "Then I can escort you back to the barracks where you can get some rest."

On Juliet's words, he stood and crossed the room. He reached into his case, taking out a syringe. He then turned, and walked over to Samantha. "It's probably a little much to ask you to trust me." he stated sympathetically while holding the syringe up. "Still, I need you to put your arm out. Please."

"It's probably a little much to ask you to trust me....Still, I need you to put your arm out. Please."
Samantha looked worried. Juliet's reassurances that Preston was the professional here weren't all that comforting. His bedside manner had returned though and after a long moments hesitation, looking from the needle to Preston then finally to Juliet, Samantha decided that compliance would get this done much quicker, and probably less painfully than putting up a fuss. The syringe was empty anyway. He wasn't trying to drug her again, so she held out her arm.
"I'm watching everything you do." She warned him, as though she had any say in this whatsoever.

"I'm watching everything you do."He gazed at her with genuine sympathy. It was unlikely she would ever trust him again, and there was no reason she should. He dabbed her arm with a wet cloth, before sliding the needle into her skin. "Sorry." he whispered, retracting the needle, knowing it would sting slightly. Trust was a hard thing to regain, and he'd betrayed her in the worst way. Then again, time healed all wounds. Sadly, she probably wouldn't be around long enough to turn forgiving. flashback: abclost.proboards40.com/index.cgi?board=rpgbios&action=display&thread=1176881922&page=1#1187117654

SAMANTHA
With eyes like an eagle, Samantha watched intently as Preston took a sample of her blood. She didn't wince at the stinging or look away when the dark crimson liquid began to spurt into the syringe. It was almost mesmerising watching, what was basically her life, being taken from her. Fitting metaphor for her current situation really.
When he was done she cast her gaze over at Juliet, looking for some kind of reassurance that what they had discussed when Preston wasn't in the room still held true.
"What are you going to do with that?" She said, nodding towards the vial of blood.

"What are you going to do with that?"
"We'll put it through a standard screen," she replied, holding a bandage at the ready for when Preston was done. "Check your iron levels, triglycerides, thyroid, any other factors that might be cause for concern."
She glanced around the room. "Unfortunately, this station isn't quite set up yet for a proper analysis. But I can take the sample directly to Karli; I'm sure she'd be glad to process it. Plus, it's a quick stop on the way to my house," she said casually.

"Your house? Does that mean we're done now?" Samantha was curious to know if leaving here would include her too.

She nodded. "Almost," she replied, waiting for Preston to finish collecting the blood sample. "Ben asked me to make room for you at my place. It's nothing fancy, probably doesn't look much different from Dr. Saint's home. But I can offer you a change of clothes and some semi-burnt muffins."
