Cassie
"I'm just assuming you know how to handle one. That way, incase they come back, I want to make sure that we have at least to people armed, and ready for 'em. Cause what with Paul being here, I'm getting the feeling that their coming back sooner then expected."
"Yeah i can handle a gun," and kill a person from a hundred yards with a knife. "if needed i can protect everyone." Cassie was greatful he didn't ask where she got the gun from. not like it mattered anyways, she didn't expect to get off the island anytime soon. her mission was a bust and she couldn't pull it off without her husband.
"I missed the whole Paul thing, who is that guy?"

KYLE
"I missed the whole Paul thing, who is that guy?"
Kyle took a deep breath, "That's a good question," he replied. Probably the simplest and broadest thing he could have said, but he couldn't exactly answer a question that he didn't know the answer to.

PAUL
"Just remember: they don't trust you."
"No one ever does." Paul replied, casting his gaze downwards as if the sand on the beach would somehow offer him some form of consolation. "No one ever should."
He reflected for a few moments and then asked, "Has the tall one- the one with the stick- ever uttered a word? In any language?"

GOODWIN
"Has the tall one- the one with the stick- ever uttered a word? In any language?"
"Not since the night of the crash," Goodwin replied, "Not since..." he could now feels eyes on him. He wasn't sure how close they were, but he had to be cautious of what he said, "Not since he killed two of them."

PAUL
"Not since the night of the crash. Not since... not since he killed two of them."
He caught the nuance of Goodwin's wording and understood that, with the crash survivors waking up, there was a need to police and be careful of what was said. This need for discretion meant Paul would be unable to ask the question he wanted to ask- the question he needed to ask.
"Schiesse." He mumbled, cursing his vindictive behaviour. If he hadn't been so busy blaming Goodwin for the confrontation with Aaron on the prior day, he would have had an opportunity to ask who had been killed.
He licked his lips and thought carefully about how he worded his next questions. "Were they carrying anything that might identify them? I mean, do we know who we're up against?"

GOODWIN
He caught eyes with Paul, giving him a stern look, with a very straight face. A way of displaying that he understood the main point of the question, but his response was far from the correct one, "No," he replied, putting some emotion into his voice, almost actually putting on the mask he had to wear since the crash, "They had nothing in their pockets, no identifications...Nothing."

PAUL
No. They had nothing in their pockets, no identifications... Nothing."
And so there was no way of telling which of his fellow members of the project had died. There was no way of telling if Juliet or Mikhail, the only two people on The Island that he felt some sense of friendship with, had been lost in the raid. He tried to rationalize that his anxiety was uncalled for. Juliet and Mikhail were both too valuable to be sent off on such assignments.
If Juliet died, who would continue their pregnancy research? There were one or two others who were experienced in that area of research but none were as qualified as Juliet. Mikhail had been given the job of finding out as much about The Survivors as possible- a role too important to be interrupted with forays to the beach. Plus, if Mikhail died, who would work the radios and computers?
Paul had been blaming Goodwin for the deaths of those two without even knowing if they were the ones to have died. He'd still feel grief for the deaths of people he considered to be his test subjects, but not as much as the deaths of people he considered equal or better than himself.
"Oh." He said, a slight tremble to his voice. "That's unfortunate."

KYLE
He paused and nodded, taking in the silent moment. But Kyle didn't mind it, he'd rather sit quietly with someone then talk about meaningless sh*t. Kyle basically had shell on. A shell he had since a kid, he would keep out anyone who would try to uncover his true emotions. The only emotion he ever showed apart from fear was anger.
He looked back at the camp. They were all just starting to wake up. As much as he didn't want to go back to the beach of problems, he felt he had to. "Well," he started, "I should get back. Something tells me the others are still a little shook up about what happened yesterday." It was amazing how Kyle could let something go so quickly, it was the main reason he couldn't pick up on the troubles of others. "Just remember, we're in this together." He told fox before leaving. For the first time since the crash he had thrown away Kyle and become a leader, to help aide the others, and who better to do it then someone that does not feel conflicts towards himself.

((Sorry about my recent lack of activity. I'll try to keep a closer eye on things ;-) ))
PAUL
He wrung his hands a few times, a slight nervous reaction. The movement of his hands was more like washing ones hands than the usual nervous wrenching of ones wrists associated with anxiety. There was no soap or running water near Paul yet his hands seemed to lather soap that wasn't there between his fingers. He seemed to notice his habit and stopped, throwing his arms behind his back in an "at ease" posture.
"Well, we better make ourselves useful." He mumbled to Goodwin before turning and walking toward the center of the encampment.
He noticed that the shelters were organized in a fairly compromising semi-circle that a team from The Project could flank easily to raid the tents for those worthy of being taken. The problemwas how to keep everyone on the beach occupied and disinterested in advancing into the jungle. It would be easier if the world's limits were maintained to the beach. It would keep the experiment in a closed system with a minimum of interaction with foreign elements.
The trick was finding a good distraction...

'Kyle's coming back, better get moving' he though as he could see the young man walking along the beach. "I should probably get to work," he told Paul, giving him a nod as a heads up before taking off down the beach.
KYLE
He continued along the beach back to the camp. He slowed as he saw Paul. Every time he saw him he felt a shutter down his spine. He turned and changed course. He made his was over to where Bella was sleeping. He sat on a log near by. Kyle figured it would be easier to find out what they talked about from her then from Paul.
NEIL
As he could feel the suns heat on him as it began to rise. He took off his jacket and tossed it beside him. He then rolled up his sleeves and sat in the sand. As he did so he noticed a rip in his pants. He looked them over and then exclaimed, "Ah bollix!" to himself. But then again, there wasn't much use for a one hundred and fifty pound suite on a deserted island.

NEIL
"Ooh, sounds like someone got up on the wrong side of...their patch of sand,"
"Did I make it that easy to tell?" Neil asked, "It's strange because normally I sleep well with sand fleas, while laying on a cold, flat surface,” Neil said sarcastically with a friendly tone. “Not to mention an odd fear of being attacked in the middle of the night, but I’m sure that complaint is getting a bit old around here.” He continued with a weak smile across his face.
"Have you eaten yet? I think Cassie was able to catch some fish."
“Ay, thanks miss, but I’m not big on fish,” Neil replied. It was amazing the fact that he’d turn anything down considering how hungry he was, but Neil was a tad out of touch when it came to survival in the wild, plus he was fairly stubborn. “Besides I’d much rather indulge myself in the wonderful fruit this island had to offer,” he joked with a look of disgust on his face as he brushed off a chunk of the ‘fruit’ he had picked earlier. It had a horrid stench.

Cassie
Nothing like starting the day with a rock cooked meal, Cassie had placed all the cooked fish on a giant leaf she had found. and brought it up to the center of the camp. "Eat only what you can, don't stuff yourself with it. save some for the others." Cassie said that rather coldly, thou she didn't mean for it to come out that way.
“Ay, thanks miss, but I’m not big on fish, besides I’d much rather indulge myself in the wonderful fruit this island had to offer,” The man in the slightly worn suit was talking to Etana, with a smile she made three small leaf filled portions and walked over to the handing one to Etana and to the man.
"Eat it, can't live on Fruit alone."

ETANA
“Ay, thanks miss, but I’m not big on fish. Besides I’d much rather indulge myself in the wonderful fruit this island had to offer,”
"And here I thought British people lived on fish and chips," she remarked. "Lucky for you then, that I'm getting better at the whole mango-gathering thing. I was just going to try and find some. But each time, we have to deeper into the jungle to find anything. And I'm not exactly eager to do so."
"Eat it, can't live on Fruit alone."
"Thanks, Cassie," she smiled, taking the offered fish. Then she looked over to Neil. "I warn you, she doesn't take no for an answer. At least, not very well."

NEIL
"And here I thought British people lived on fish and chips,"
He smiled as he picked up a stone and through into the water, sort of as a fidget, a twitch.
"I warn you, she doesn't take no for an answer. At least, not very well."
He looked at Fox and then at Etana with a straight face, trying to make his decision. He smiled and then replied, "Alright then, send it here...and thank you of course" he said cheerfully. "Probably for the best then. You leave me to find food for myself, you'd probably need to dig another grave," he joked, but as soon as the words came out he realized he probably touch a touchy subject. "Sorry." He said plainly.

Cassie
"I warn you, she doesn't take no for an answer. At least, not very well." Cassie couldn't help it and she let out a smile, it had been a full day since she let a smile slip. But she swore it wouldn't let it happen again...so much for that.
"Alright then, send it here...and thank you of course. Probably for the best then. You leave me to find food for myself, you'd probably need to dig another grave, Sorry." Cassie nodded, ignoring the 'joke' and continued to eat her fish. She noticed people taking a small amount of food saving it for the others who were still asleep. turning back to the group she sipped some water.
"Your welcome, remember you can't be picky out here. we have very little ways of food and a problem with them." she motioned to the jungle, those people kept showing up. But strangely it had been quiet...
"Morning, folks,"
"Morning."

(sorry for not being more active here, guys. I'll start being around more.)
Things were seemingly going well. Not for Donald, of course. Or Paul. Or Etana or Aaron or the rest, but for him. That was because no one had included him in the decision making. If he didn't make decisions or contribute to them, he could in no way be blamed for when things went wrong. It would be everyone's fault. Not his.
But this strategy was starting to make him uncomfortable. People dying. Mistrust. Tension. The jungle, and the people in it. Perhaps it was time to...listen in. Find out what decisions were being made. Just in case they decided on a murder-suicide.
He stood, shifting the sand in his shoes. He took a deep breath, and then strode up to the crowd with an air of false confidence. "How's tricks, fellow terrified survivors?" he asked with a careful smile.

"How's tricks, fellow terrified survivors?" Cassie nodded his way but didn't answer, and continued eating her fish. Cassie knew they were all in this together, but she wasn't much for emotions. They got you know where...

PAUL
During the prior day, Paul had periodically grabbed pieces of detritus being washed up on shore to use as components for some of the shelters. A safety harness for something in the storage hold, for example, made an effective item for lashing together two long and heavy branches to create part of the frame for a shelter. But during the looting of the debris washing up on the beach, Paul had found some other bauble: a torn-up portion of an atlas. He'd tucked it away because it looked like it came from a Social Studies textbook for one of the children and could have been used as a prop to begin conversing with them and developing a bond he could exploit to see if they were... special in a specific and highly unique aspect.
But the atlas served an additional purpose. He decided to cash in on that other purpose now.
Paul approached the largest group of people he could find on the beach and displayed the page showing a map of the world prominently before himself. "Map-check!" He set the book down in front of himself and sat down on the sand. "So does anyone have any clue where were you are now?"
