He smirked, as he watched the man burst into laughter. A smile raced across his face as he watched. It was amazing, such a small thing meant such a big thing.
"You've been holding that on in a while, hunh?" he asked with a smile. "Alright, well, tomorrow... bright and early."

"Agreed. But who do we know who can handle one? I agree that they need some kind of protection wil we're gone, just in case, but it won't do them any good if they end up shooting each other."
"simple we teach them how, who is ever willing to learn. we don't have to worry about them shooting each other, because there not getting guns. there letting handmade knives." Cassie sat down and ran her hand through her hair. "I think all we need are three people here with weapons, plus whatever else they can all find."

"Alright, well, tomorrow... bright and early."
He smiled and nodded, "Alright then."
"I think all we need are three people here with weapons, plus whatever else they can all find."
He paused for a moment as his eyes wandered from the sand, to the ocean and back to Cassie. "Alright." He pulled up his jeans around the right ankle and pulled down his sock. He grabbed the knife from its holster. He flipped the blade around so he was holding out the handle to Cassie, "That should get you started." He told her.
"Hey, you guys be careful out there,"
He paused as he looked over to another of the survivors. He looked up at her with a look of fear and sadness. His eyes were winced, his eyebrows were curled up wards, and his mouth open just the slightest bit. It was only as of late that he was beginning to realize that they were in it together. Perhaps he and who ever else was professionally trained in certain fields should spend less time trying to protect them, and more time trying to help them. "Thank you." He said plainly with no emotion.

PAUL
The children. They were always so well guarded. And it was such a pity too as Paul needed to obtain more information about them. Without sufficient data, it would be unclear how well-developed their talents might be without the application of additional stimulus. Latent abilities needed to be latent. If they were induced, it might be... unsustainable.
Fortunately, they seemed to be just the right age to read.
He approached Etana with a polite smile. She seemed to have the strongest bond with the young ones. Paul would come off as creepy and uncomfortable to the children. But if someone they trusted introduced him, it would be easier to gain their trust in turn.
"Think the little ones would like to hear a story?" Paul asked her, indicating a tattered comic book found amongst the detritus.

ETANA
"Think the little ones would like to hear a story?"
"Oh...well, I'm sure they'd prefer it to gathering firewood," she smiled at him, looking at the comic book. "There's precious little here to distract them from...our situation. I used to read to my sister whenever she had nightmares. She was a great admirer of Batman."

"There's precious little here to distract them from... our situation. I used to read to my sister whenever she had nightmares. She was a great admirer of Batman."
"Batman?" He blinked as if confused. "If the child is having nightmares, why read her Batman? He was scary. In the adult ones, anyway, he would kill criminals. But, naja, we had scarier stories in Austria. Werewolves and demons that would punish bad children. Strange."
He glanced down at the cover of the comic as if now concerned as to what effect it might have on the children amongst The Survivors. "This is Super Ted. I think he is ok, yes?"
(Naja: German for "Well...". A filler for a pause, basically.)

"Well, I suppose even the vilest villains in Gotham were less frightening than the monsters we'd left behind in our home country," she said.
"This is Super Ted. I think he is ok, yes?"
"Yes, I think he'll do just fine. We'll leave the werewolves and demons for another day, shall we?" she smiled, and then led him over to a shady spot near the trees where she'd left the children. "Zack, Emma, you two remember Paul, don't you?" she asked.

BROOKS
He turned to Fox, and, with a plain look said.
"Who'd you have in mind?"
