Little Sarah
"And which one's yours, then?" Sarah smiled and pointed to the very well constructed Shack (she has OCD)
"I like things in order." she smiled, "Do you?"
"And i'd love to be your neighbour."
"Good, because i like people. Mommy said i am a social butterfly." she grinned.

He glanced at Heidi, then at James. "Bet her mommy drank a lot of wine, too," he said, under her breath, confident Sarah could not hear it.

I turned at an angle so only Erik could see the 'I heard that' glare then turned back to group. "Okay, let's get started then." I grabbed an armful of the branches and brought them over near little Sarah's tent then looked at Erik and James expectantly, awaiting instructions on how best to start.

"I guess I just like the surprise. But I really hope it decides to stay right here until we get off the island."
"Yeah, hopefully it'll stay a surprise until those rescue planes come soaring down." he replied, glancing down at her belly.

"I like things in order." she smiled, "Do you?"
"Wouldn't have it any other way" James smiled. "You should see how organised my CD collection is" he said, dropping his voice and grinning mischieviously. "It's pretty sad, really!".
"Bet her mommy drank a lot of wine, too"
"Sounds like my type of woman" James muttered, winking as he stood fully upright again. He turned and caught sight of Heidi's expectant expression, remembering suddenly what it was they were there to do. "I suppose we should start with some sort of base and then build the walls around it...what do you think?" he said, looking round and addressing his question to Mason.

He looked at the ground slowly, rubbing his chin. "Put the six longer sticks in the ground, like a hexagon. We're dealing with slighly less sturdy construction than the stuff made with metal, so the base is going to need to be secure. Then we build a wall the direction the wind blows from, for the most part, and begin on the roof. It's not going to be as tall as I like, but, provided she doesn't turn into a WNBA player overnight, she'll be comfortable."
He picked up a stick from the pile and threw it aside.
"Use whatever you like except that one," he said, with a smirk. "I need that for something else."

"OK" James replied. "Let's do it". He set his creepers down beside the pile and rounded up four of the strongest looking sticks for immediate use. The part about wind direction had gone straight over his head; his own shelter had been built with no such considerations and this, he suspected, could explain its resemblance to something from a Brazillian shanty-town.
"Sounds like you really know your stuff, Mason" he said, forcing the first stick into the ground. "You pick up these DIY tricks from your film sets?".

"Second wife was a set designer, James," he said, shoving a large pole into the ground. "Plus, I wasn't always a producer. I did, you know, spend some time in high school shop class."
Mason looked at him with a smile, and looked back at the pile.
"Rope," he said. "Did anyone grab any of those vines, we could use some rope...."

I grabbed one of the four sturdier sticks James had picked out and based on where Erik and James placed the other two, I gaged where to place the third. As I worked the "pole" into the ground, I listened to Erik and James' conversation, also curious as to how he knew about shelter building.
"Rope," he said. "Did anyone grab any of those vines, we could use some rope...."
"Actually, we had some left over from when we built my shelter. We can use those unless someone's already snagged them. Be right back." I jogged the short distance to my tent and checked around the side, grateful to see they were still there. Not sure how many we'd need, I just grabbed them all and hurried back.
"Here ya go." I held them out to Erik so he could pick which ones would be useful.

Bella felt embaressed that she couldn't really help, she was usually quite clumsy and would probably end up impaling herself on one of the sticks. "Did you want me to sort through those?" She indicated to the knotted 'rope', "Or can i do anything else?"

LEIA
Oh my god I am so bored I think I might start counting grains of sand!!!!
Leia had walked up and down the length of the camp area of beach about a dozen times already that day. If she knew that this was safe island, she might have ventured further into the jungle to see what was there, but there had been numerous rumours floating around about whatever it was that had caused the noises on the first night that she thought it best not to chance her luck. Her favourite theory, was that they had all crashed on some kind of Lost World where dinosaurs roamed free and savages hunted lost travellers who wandered too deeply into the jungle. Of course, she knew it was totally ridiculous - particularly since it was one of the few children on the island that had mentioned it to her - but part of her actually relished the adventure that that may conjure up. That said, she still wasn't going into the jungle. At least, there was no way she would go on her own. She wasn't a moron.
It was fair to say, Leia didn't get out that much back home and this kind of situation was something she had always dreamed about happening to her. More specifically, the thrown out of her everyday life by an act of god so that she could meet her dream man and live happily ever after romantisism side of it. Very definately not the lots of people horrifically die and the rest are stranded with very little hope of rescue so they all slowly starve to death part. But then that's the thing about dreams. The reality of them is quite different.
Pretty much everyday had been the same so far. She'd get up, find what little food she could, and sit on the beach watching the ocean until her backside went numb. Then she'd wander around and make small talk with a few of the people like her. Ones that thought they didn't really have anything to contribute to them getting rescued and didn't want to get in the way. When she ran out of anything in common they might have to talk about, she'd return to her shelter and make improvements to it until the sun came down.
The first night, her shelter had been a broken off section of the plane's wing proped up with a damaged drinks trolley (which was sadly empty when she found it) and she slept under a fire damaged blanket from the flight. All through the night, she kept waking up and seeing the Oceanic logo staring back at her from the twisted metal roof. By morning, she'd deicded that if they were going to be here for much longer, that she needed somewhere a little more cosy to sleep.
Three days later and what she was calling her temporary home looked fantastic. Made completely from natural materials - she didn't want anything from the crash to spoil it - her humble shelter now looked more like a native's tiki house. It was small, but it was beautiful and she'd actually made it herself. A fact she was very proud of, since she'd never done anything like it before in her life. Perhaps more importantly though, it didn't leak. Which was largely thanks to a lot of patience weaving palm leaves together and using an old technique of tieing them to the hut that she'd read about some years ago in one of her old professor's books about South American tribes. It was funny, because at the time she wondered what possible use that piece of information would ever be to her. Life's just odd like that.
So now there was little else for her to do to her hut, unless she somehow found a way to make a welcome mat for it. So she had to try and think of a way to keep her overactive mind occupied before she went totally stark raving mad. Which was why she had resolved to help the people who had begun making a shelter a little further down the beach from her own. While they had started work on the structure, Leia had wandered off to pick up an arm full of palm leaves from a spot she knew and had carried them back to the construction site.
"Or can i do anything else?"
Leia dumped the leaves down in front of the young girl and smiled at her.
"How are you at weaving?"

"Second wife was a set designer, James. Plus, I wasn't always a producer. I did, you know, spend some time in high school shop class."
"Well, I'm glad one of us had the good grace to pay attention" James smirked, picking up a second stick and hammering it into the ground. "I was never that good at wood work".
"Here ya go."
"And if we get short on rope, we can always use those creepers. I damn near fell out of a tree getting those, so someone had better use them!" he said, leaning on the now embeded stick and grinning from Mason to Heidi. It was no coincidence that his mood had suddenly lifted upon commencement of the task at hand; James had always been at his best when engrossed in work. It was when he had nothing to do that his temprament began to slide. His mind was simply too active for its own good.
"How are you at weaving?"
James turned and did a quick double take. He hadn't seen this new speaker before, but there was no denying that she was pulling off the shorts and bikini look particularly well. She certainly seemed to have the figure for it.
Oh, very appropriate. Get your mind back on track! James thought as he turned back to the sticks.

Claire smiled and nodded. "And until we get to L.A." She added. Looking away from the two people for a moment, Claire glanced at the jungle. She never got a very good feeling from there which was why she managed to avoid going into it.
"You ever get the feeling that we're not the only ones here?" She suddenly asked, looking back at Ethan and Nadia. "I mean, that's obviously impossible because it's deserted, but you can't really help but wonder." she smirked slightly then shrugged. "Guess I'm just being weird."

"And who the heck are you?"
Leia turned to face the guy that had spoken to her with a broad smile on her face.
"I'm the woman who's gonna help you make your roof waterproof." She put one hand on her hip and made a waving gesture at the group. "I don't think I've really met any of you yet. My name's Leia. I figured you wouldn't object to another pair of hands helping out."

"It's not my roof, it's Bella's," he said, smirking as he picked up another stick. "Leia, you say? Well, I'm Han, and this here's Luke." he said, gesturing to James, hitting him in the arm.
"Try not to drool, kid" he whispered to James as he drove another post into the ground.
"How are you planning on making the roof..." he paused a minute to let out a grunt as he drove the spike deep into the sand and shook it about to make sure it's sturdy. "....waterproof? There's not exactly a plethora of supplies left."
He brushed his hands and walked up to her, a half smirk on his face.

"Leia, you say? Well, I'm Han, and this here's Luke."
"Wow." Leia said flatly. "You're so amazingly original." If she had a dollar for everytime she'd heard that, she'd be as rich as George Lucas.
"Oh, Mason...you're just not my type"
That made Leia chuckle and she gave an approving grin to James.
"How are you planning on making the roof....waterproof? There's not exactly a plethora of supplies left."
"That's where the palm leaves come in." She explained, letting his previous coment go and sitting down next to Bella. "They have a natural waxiness to them that makes rainwater just slide right off." As she spoke, she picked up one of the leaves and mimed water rolling off the surface with her other hand. "All we need to do is weave the fronds together and you have instant roof tiles."

James smiled back, pleased to see that not everyone's sense of humour had been damaged during the crash.
"Keep telling yourself that, James, and it might come true one day"
"Oh, you're such a tease" James smirked, glancing up at Leia before securing the stick firmly in place.
"That's where the palm leaves come in. They have a natural waxiness to them that makes rainwater just slide right off."
"Sounds good from where I'm standing" he said, gradually suspecting that he was the only one with no idea what he was doing.
