"I kind of wished we'd found out her name." he lamented. "She's probably terrified right now."

"I know, I know," Gwen sighed. "We don't even know if she was traveling alone, how old she is. I mean, I'm almost thirty and I'm scared out of my wits." She could just imagine the snakes, spiders, and other jungle creatures hiding just beyond the edges of the firelight.

"D'you think maybe we should go back? Get more information, then try and find her?" he asked.

"D'you think maybe we should go back? Get more information, then try and find her?" he asked.
She nodded "Or at least get some more set of eyes out here. I mean, she could have returned to the fuselage for all we know," she offered.
There was a rustling in the vegetation ahead of them. Gwen held her torch out toward the noise, holding her breath and tensing every muscle. Suddenly, a yellow blur went by them and disappeared into the shadows.
"Um, would everyone think I'm crazy if I said a dog just ran by?" she asked hesitantly.
"A dog?" Sayid repeated.
"Yes, a yellow lab. I'm almost sure of it."

He raised an eyebrow. "A yellow lab? I didn't see a thing." he said.

"Right, nevermind," she said, waving a hand dismissively. "Which way back to the camp then?"

"Just back through this way." he said, heading back towards the survivor's camp.

**Grace enters from G3 -- The Fuselage and Surrounding Area**
Once she was out of sight of the wreckage and all the poor dead bodies, Grace wearily dropped into a sitting position and leaned against a tree for support. She pulled a small notepad and pen out of the back pocket of her jeans and began to make a list, just a list of random things. Sure, it was strange, but writing lists had always had a very soothing effect on the girl.
-RIP Ruth Coll, 1971-2004. Beloved aunt and friend. -Gwen, flight attendant, knows sign language. Go to her for anything. -Food, water, shelter. See other survivors about these? -Find luggage, if possible -- clean clothes and other necessities. -Gash on shoulder and possible sprained ankle. Find someone to look at them.
When she ran out of items to put on her list, Grace let the writing implements fall to her lap and began fiddling with the silver locket around her neck. She knew she ought to get back to the fires where the other survivors were, but God, couldn't a girl have some time alone to mourn the one person in all the world that cared about her?

Nameless heard something. Looking down, he saw her. A girl. He remembered them. Girls. But she was under his tree, bad.
He was about to move when he heard the snap. Without warning, the branch under him gave way, sending him crashing down in front of the girl. Quickly he scrambled to his feet, turning to face her.
Leg hurt. He felt blood in his nose. Chest was heavy, breathing hard. It would fix itself. Always did.

Grace hadn't known there was anyone else around... that is, until a tree branch, and a person who she assumed had been sitting on the branch, crashed to the ground in front of her. She pushed herself into a standing position and pressed herself back against the tree trunk, looking at the other with wide eyes. Was he another crash survivor? Well, whoever he was, he couldn't possibly have escaped that fall unscathed.
With a sigh --it would be too much to hope that another person here knew sign language-- Grace raised her hands in an attempt to communicate. The notebook and pen lay forgotten on the ground, fallen from her lap in the scramble to get up. "Your nose is bleeding," she signed in a mixture of sign language and pidgin.

He tilted his head at her weird waving around. Silly. He tried mimicing her, waving his hands around wildly.

Grace sighed exasperatedly. So not only did he not understand her, but he was going to mock her? Snatching up the notepad and pen, she flipped to the next page and scrawling something quickly before holding it out to show him. If it was rudeness he wanted, it was rudeness he'd get. "I said your damn nose is bleeding, stupid."

Quickly covering the distance, he stood closer, looking at the notepad. He couldn't read much. Nose and stupid. He scratched his head, trying to remember.

Great, he couldn't read, either? Grace was running out of ideas. She wanted to find Gwen and ask her to interpret, but she knew the flight attendant was probably busy. No, Grace would do this by herself if it killed her. With her free hand, she reached out to wipe away the blood beneath his nose, then held that hand up so he could see what exactly she'd been trying to say.

Grace followed the movement of his mouth closely, trying to determine what he was saying. Oh. That question. She shook her head, writing something else on the notepad. "I can't hear."

(sorry it took so long ) As he heard the sound, his head snapped to the side like a frightened animal. It was coming, had to move. He ran for the nearest tree, quickly climbing it and vanishing amongst the leaves.
