Walter's Shelter Location found in box G3 below: Each box is 3 miles by 3 miles. It takes an hour to walk 3 miles. But also keep in mind that hiking (like that really steep hill to get to higher ground) will take a heck of a lot longer and that if you're running (like from some jungle thing), that you'll get somewhere faster.

Walter set down a piece of luggage with the massive pile in his large shelter. He began to sort through the belongs, discarding them into various piles of similar devices. He sighs as he finsihes cleaning the suitcase and looks around his place, seeing one of the walls of his shelter is covered with drawings of various people on the island he had encountered. He stared at them intently, studying the details.

Walter walked into his tent, looking around, with Jack in tow. The walls were already covered in sketches of the various people on the island, specifically their faces. They seemed to be organized into two clear sections, though there was nothing in perticular that defined the difference. People of all age, sex, race and kindness were on each side.
Walter passed a bag, and as Jack walked up to it he smiled.
"Oh, take that bag with you when you leave," Walter said. He had put all the medical supplies he could find in the bag. "It's not a lot, but it might help for a few days."
There were still various bags thrown around the small area, as well as piles of various things people might take on vacation with them. He came to a small black breifcase in one corner, before holding it up to Jack.
"You sure you're ready for this?"

JACK
He stared at Walter, speechless. He wasn't sure if he should be cautious or confused. He just shrugged and said, "Sure."

Walter opened the non-discript case, which contained three similar, yet obviously different handguns. "I found this in a big pile of the wreckage. I didn't look too close, guns ain't my thing, but... well, I figure someone other than me 'oughta see this. It was checked, so there's a tag."
The tag read "SYD LAX. Mason, Erik."

JACK
He stared at the bag, motionless, his mouth was closed, his head raised, and his eyebrows slightly pointed down, "Who's Erik Mason?" he asked in anger and fear.

"I hadn't heard the name," Walter said. "But that isn't saying much. I figure lots a'people needed ya after the crash, so you might know something more, ya know? But, I guess not." He closed the case. "This ain't government or anything. That I can tell."

JACK
He grabbed the suitcase, "Listen, I need to make sure you wont tell anyone about this," Jack paused as he looked Walter in the eye, "I'll be back."

***Gwen enters from G3 Camp***
Gwen paused outside the shelter that she'd seen the older man disappear into, wondering if he was still inside. "Excuse me? Sir?" she asked hesitantly. "I just wondered if I might return your coffeepot. Little Sarah's otherwise engaged at the moment," she explained.

WALTER The old man examined the picture he was in the midst of drawing. Little kids were different--they had this glow about them. He smiled as he heard Gwen's voice.
"Come on in," the old man said, still looking at his picture. "Thanks for returning the pan."

"Come on in...Thanks for returning the pan."
"No worries, I should be thanking you," she said, ducking into his shelter after being granted permission. "If not for the caffeine, I might still be barely conscious and completely--" Her voice trailed off as she caught sight of all the drawings on the wall. People that she'd seen here and there among the wreckage and walking through the camp. He seemed to have captured them perfectly. "...inarticulate," she muttered, finishing her sentence. "You did all these?"

WALTER The old man turned around and smiled. "If I didn't have coffee, I wouldn't know what inarticulate means." Walter smiled and put a couple finishing touches on the drawing.
"Yeah, it's a hobby of mine. When you have a lot of free time, like me, you gots to find something to fill the time. I took up drawing... but I don't usually let people pose for me though--I just try to memorize a face and recreate it. I've only got 20 people or so so far..."
"I could give you a lecture on how to sketch--not the technical side, but how you have to capture someones being in one picture--it's not easy. I used to teach in the community college in town." He got off his makeshift chair and slowly walked over to Gwen. "Anyone you want to see?"

"Wow, that's...amazing," she said, continuing to survey the sketches. "And a much more productive use of one's free time. I usually just watch TV or do crossword puzzles while I'm sitting at the airport."
"Anyone you want to see?"
"Oh, no, not really," she replied. "Just trying to figure out who I have and haven't met yet. Jack said there were over 40 survivors. A lot of names I still need to learn, apparently."
She turned to focus her attention. "So you were a teacher?" she asked.

WALTER "I was a teacher, among other things," he said. "I guess you could call me a philanthropist of sorts. I used to be a businessman, but after I retired, I figured it was time to give back. I taught right up to the moment my son tried to put me in a home." He looked grumpy after that line, but quickly shifted to a smile.
"And, I think you've proven that you do more with your free time than just crossword puzzles," he smirked as he made his way over to a collection of various knickknacks he had saved. "I don't know most of these people's names, either. But I have an idea of who they are, so I guess that's something."

"I don't know most of these people's names, either. But I have an idea of who they are, so I guess that's something."
"The good, the bad, and the ugly," she remarked. "So to speak. Maybe you can enlighten me about which is which..."
Pointing at some of the faces she recognized, she shared the names with him. "Jack, our resident doctor. His ex-wife Sarah. John, who was helping little Sarah with her sandcastle last I saw him. Sayid, our transceiver repairman. Claire, the pregnant girl. And Ethan. I remember we ran into you in the jungle that day; you were able to find some of the luggage out there..."

WALTER "The pregnant girl's got a good soul," he said. "Yes, I was able to find some luggage--I'm still sorting through the stuff, but if you need anything let me know."
The old man pulled out a bag and through down a portfolio and set it on the ground. "That's all I was looking for, anyway."

"Nothing specific, really," she shrugged. "I just hoped I might find something to barter with our island entrepreneur, Mr. Sawyer. But I'm pretty sure he already has everything he needs by now. As well as everything we need."
"That's all I was looking for, anyway."
She looked away from the drawings to see that he'd placed an open portfolio on the ground. "Some of your early work?" she inquired, kneeling to take a closer look.

WALTER "All of it," he said, with a smile. "Well, everything worth keeping. Take a look if you like."
The old man began to sort though some of the things. "Let me know if you find anything he needs. So, you were the stewardess, right? Or is it flight attendant now? I can never remember."
