He came a lot closer, until he was standing over her. He would've been nose-to-nose with her, had he not been a great deal taller. His smile dropped. "I...hate...this...place. These people, and their problems." he growled in a low voice. "It's good that I can tell you this. Not just think it. It's good to get it out, to tell someone...and it's still a secret, y'know? If I tell you something bad, for example...that whenever I see Sawyer, I want to rip him in two...you're not gonna run off and tell anyone."

His voice was kind of scary sounding. Grace may not have had a great deal of experience with judging peoples' moods from their tones, but this guy didn't sound to be in the best mood. And he was definitely creeping her out with the whole standing-practically-on-top-of-her thing. She stepped backwards.

"You know, if I went to break your neck right now, you wouldn't be able to scream. Would you?" he asked. For a moment, he considered attacking, just to test if she could scream or not. Then, he resisted. "How do you communicate with people who don't know sign language? Paper? Writing?" He raised a finger, writing invisible words in the air to get the message across.

Finally, something not quite frightening. It looked like he was asking about writing or some such thing; pleased that she could at least answer this question, Grace pulled her notebook and pen from the bag and held them up. Yes, this is how I communicate with non-signing people. But I'm not sure I'd like to communicate with you...

"A notebook. Simple, appropriate." he said with a nod. He looked downwards for a moment, and then looked back at Grace. "So much has happened to me that I don't understand. I don't quite know what I'm meant to do anymore."
Then, one powerful arm shot out, snatching the notebook off of her along with the pen. He flicked through it for a moment, just curious about previous messages. Nothing really of interest. Then, he clicked the pen and began to write his own message. He scribbled, "Thanks. You're a good listener."
He threw it back to her with a smile.

She was more than a little offended that he just looked through her notebook like that -- they weren't incriminating conversations, but still and all it was an invasion of privacy-- but no way was Grace going to try and snatch it back. Bewildered by this entire situation, she caught the notebook and looked down at what he'd written. Man, this guy was creepy.

Ethan smirked and shrugged, patting her on the shoulder as he walked past. “Bye, now. Stay safe.”

Definitely creeped out, Grace put the notebook away and decided that it was time to head back to the nice safe camp, where random strangers couldn't just walk up and be all scary.
***Grace also leaves for elsewhere, preferrably an elsewhere without Ethan in it***
