A part of the jungle outskirts near the survivor's camp. Location found in box F3 below: Each box is 3 miles by 3 miles. It takes an hour to walk 3 miles. But also keep in mind that hiking (like that really steep hill to get to higher ground) will take a heck of a lot longer and that if you're running (like from some jungle thing), that you'll get somewhere faster.

FRIENDLY
Tom sat in the woods unhappy and waiting patiently. He was at a high risk situation here, and didn't want to be there any longer than necessary. He glanced at the sky. It was getting light out. They'd be waking up soon. He would have to be careful.

***Locke, Kate and Michael enter***
John took the lead right away, walking ahead of Kate and Michael. His eyes darted about, scanning the area around him. He crouched near a piece of crushed grass. Small mark, too small to be a shoe. He traced the footprint, and his eyes wandered to a set of tracks leading forward. No other tracks, likely a youngster that got seperated from the pack. He stood, and motioned for them to come forward.

KATE
Kate looked over the tracks as well. Marks made by an animal, probably a boar, she guessed by the size and the way Locke showed interest in them.
"You find something?" she asked, not giving away that she had a little tracking experience herself.

"You find something?"
He ran a hand over the ground. "The ground here has been rooted up. That's how boars get the majority of their food, they dig. Afterwards they generally wallow in the dirt, rub up against the trees, scoring them with their tusks." He stood, looking forward into the deeper jungle.

MICHAEL
"The ground here has been rooted up. That's how boars get the majority of their food, they dig. Afterwards they generally wallow in the dirt, rub up against the trees, scoring them with their tusks."
"Okay," Michael replied, displaying his understanding of the basics of what Mr. Locke was saying, "What's all that mean?" he asked, trying to figure out the main significance of all of it.

He looked to Michael. "Means we're close." he explained simply, and then continued forward.

MICHAEL
***Kate and Michael enter from F3 - Mid-Jungle Boar Territory***
Michael and Kate were making their way back to camp. Or so Michael assumed, he didn't really take the time to check to make sure they were going back the right way. He had his arm around Kate as she helped him along, practically caring him so he wouldn't have to walk on his bad leg. He tried every so often to step on his bad leg to help take some of the weight off Kate, but the steps didn't last long. Every time he'd use his bad leg, he'd have to instantly lift it up again, it was like the pain was not receding.

HEIDI
Michael was in a lot of pain. She could hear it in his breathing and feel it every time he tried to use his bad leg in order to lessen the burden. Kate was getting tired, not being used to the weight of the load and at an awkward angle, no less. She looked at their surroundings. The trees weren't nearly as close together here and the ground was not as moist. Kate looked up at the tree they were approaching. Sturdy tree, tall, branches and knots spaced just perfectly for climbing. This would be a great place for the antenna.
She slowed to a stop next to the tree. "Hey. Hey, wait a minute."
She carefully brought Michael's arm around off her shoulders and carefully lowered him to the ground. "Just rest here for a minute," she said as she gently placed her backpack to the side and took off her outer shirt, the whole while studying the tree and deciding which branches or knots she'd use as steps.

MICHAEL
"Just rest here for a minute,"
Michael took his arm off Kate, and bent over to catch his breath, still trying to avoid putting to much weight on his bad leg. "I thought the guy with the gimpy leg should be deciding when we rest," Michael joked trying to make light of their current situation. Michael watched Kate take off her bag and then her outer shirt. It definitely seemed as though she had something to do, "Hey, what are you doing?" Michael asked curiously.

KATE
Kate removed her belt in order to slip off the knife holster. She tossed it aside and re-buckled her belt as she answered him. "Trying to boost the transceiver signal. I'm gonna climb this tree," she nodded to it, "and attach an antenna." Kate lifted the antenna from inside her backpack for Michael to see.

MICHAEL
"Trying to boost the transceiver signal. I'm gonna climb this tree,"
Michael looked at the antenna, realizing that Kate hadn't come on the hunt for boar. Michael stared at the antennae trying to wrap his mind around it. He looked up at the tall tree and then back at Kate, "You're gunna climb that?"

KATE Kate smiled. If only Michael could have seen her when she was younger, always climbing trees like a little monkey. This tree was made for beginners. "Yeah. Don't worry. Climbed a lot worse," she said as she put her backpack back on. Kate climbed the tree with ease, scanning the branches and finding a sturdy place to attach the antenna. Finding a good spot, Kate settled herself on a branch and carefully kept balance as she removed her backpack and retrieved the antenna. THE SOUND OF TREES BREAKING FOLLOWED BY THE FAMILIAR GRINDING GROWLING CAN BE HEARD IN THE DIRECTION OF THE MID-JUNGLE BOAR TERRITORY.

KATE
Startled, Kate lost her grip on the antenna and dropped it. She was too preoccupied with the sounds and movements that all thoughts of the antenna were out of her mind. Her vantage point from the tree was really good. Kate pushed the backpack aside to see if she could get a look at what was growling.
She looked out and immediately her eyes were drawn to bushes falling as something made its way around the tall grass. Kate stared hard, straining to get a glimpse and strangely anticipating finding out what it was. But as she noticed the direction it was headed, her face fell and she spoke the name quietly with a catch in her voice. "Locke."
Quickly, Kate climbed down the tree barely giving the now broken antenna a glance as she stuffed it back into her backpack and quickly shoved her arms through the handles.
"We've gotta get out of here," she said as she helped Michael to his feet and once again tried to balance his weight against her smaller frame.

MICHAEL
"We've gotta get out of here,"
He looked out into the jungle and then back at Kate. Michael was one the brink of asking to go back for Locke, but as he though about it, the fact that there was a creature in the jungle taring apart trees, and his leg was hurt, they wouldn't be much use to him, and they'd probably be putting their own lives in danger too. So Michael simply just nodded and tried struggle back to camp.

**James enters from G3 - Area of Survivor's Camp**
James slowed his pace as he entered the jungle, looking around cautiously at his surroundings. He'd not yet ventured this far from the beach, but that didn't matter. His interest in whatever occupied these environs aside, he wasn't there for himself. Not yet. He paused, listening intently to the sounds of the jungle. Whatever had attacked Locke, it was keeping remarkably quiet.
"Locke!" James called, scanning all around him. "Locke, are you here?".
It suddenly struck James that calling out wasn't exactly the smartest thing to do, but then again, something told him that whatever was out here would quickly become aware of his presence, shouting or not.
"John?" James called again, suddenly remembering the man's first name. He moved forward again, straining his eyes and ears for the slightest sign of danger.

JACK
***Jack enters from G3 - Area of Survivors Camp***
Jack ran down the beach and just a little bit into the jungle, about a few yards past the tree line. He wasn't sure what he was chasing, if he was chasing anything at all, but what ever it was, who ever it was, it just felt so real. As Jack made his way into the jungle he slowed his pace as to be cautious.

James heard a sound not far behind him; he whirled around, his stomach suddenly launching itself up to meet his throat. It was only the doctor.
"You alright, Jack?" he asked. "You look like the Virgin Mary just ran past".
