MICHAEL
Michael, who was unable to make any sounds other then cries in agony, continued to lie on the ground and moan in pain. Michael was not the least bit surprised that the boar clipped him and only him. Michael had his fair share of bad luck. The pain so overwhelming, it felt like a cramping muscle, but on top of that, a gash in the leg. Michael was so caught up in the pain, he didn't even notice that John called Kate, Helen.

KATE
Another cry of agony from Michael took some of her attention back. She grabbed the top of his shirt sleeve and the shoulder of his shirt and started pulling to get a tear.
In answer to Locke, she said, "You called me Helen."
Having gotten a tear started in the seam, Kate took hold of the sleeve and with a quick pull, tore it free.

"You called me Helen."
"Did I?" he asked, glancing around for were the boar went.

KATE
Kate was too distracted now with trying to stem the bleeding in Michael's leg and forgot about the Helen incident as, to her, it wasn't anything significant. She tied the torn shirt sleeve around Michael's thigh to stem the bleeding and started concentrating on getting Michael back to the shore so Jack can check on him. There was also that antenna to take care of. Why could nothing around here go smoothly?

He ignored Michael. He was wounded, not dead, and Kate was taking care of it. Meanwhile, the boar just moved further away. "Which way did that boar go?"

MICHAEL
He continued to moan, trying to take his mind off the pain, but it was impossible. All he could think about was the sharp pain coming from his leg. He didn't notice the blood running down his leg, he didn't notice Locke sauntering around trying to find his barrings. He didn't even notice Kate trying to help him. All he could think about was the pain.
"Which way did that boar go?"
Michael suddenly shot his eyes open and looked up at Locke. Michael thought he was imagining things. Why would Locke want to go after the boar after what had just happened. Before Michael would say anything, the pain came roaring back, and he forgot about Locke.

KATE
She looked over at Locke, somewhat surprised. Michael was hurt. He was just gorged by a boar and Locke wanted to go on? "Uh-uh. Michael's hurt. We have to get him back to camp." As far as Kate was concerned, the boar hunt would have to be postponed.

"Uh-uh. Michael's hurt. We have to get him back to camp."
Michael's injury was the least of the problems the camp faced. Everyone faced a starving night if Locke didn't deliver, and besides, he wasn't about to head back to camp on account of someone else's mistake. His leg still hurting a little, he limped forward. "Yeah, you take him back to camp. I'm going to get that boar."

KATE
"What are you talking about?" She asked as she looked over Michael's leg for the hundredth time. Then it hit her. He meant to go on his own? Was he crazy? She quickly turned to look at him. "John, you can't."

"John, you can't."
That again. The arrogant remark of a person who didn't know him. Didn't know what he was capable of. Didn't know what this meant, what anything meant. Didn't know that this was destiny. His destiny.
Keeping his back to Kate, he located the trampled marks in the direction the boar had taken off with. His face set with determination, he moved forward with aggression and conviction. "Don't tell me what I can't do."

KATE
Kate watched Locke disappear into the jungle. She frowned. There was nothing she could do to stop him. The man was determined and who was she to tell him what he could or couldn't do? Besides, the man had a knife and knew how to use it.
Kate and Michael, however, were not in a good predicament. Sure, they had knives as well but they were not exactly pros with them. But that didn't matter. Michael would be giving off the scent of blood and Kate would be needed to help him make it back to the beach. He was hardly in a position to be wielding a knife and Kate would be hindered by Michael's weight. Her reaction time if there should be anything threatening... well, she just hoped they wouldn't run into anything.
"Let's get you back to the beach so Jack can take a look at your leg." Kate helped Michael to his feet and put his arm around her shoulders. She grabbed a tight hold of his wrist and wrapped her other arm around his waist. "Okay," she said as she adjusted the weight of Michael to as comfortable as she could make it, "let's go."

THE SOUND OF TREES BREAKING FOLLOWED BY THE FAMILIAR GRINDING GROWLING CAN BE HEARD APPROACHING THIS AREA.

Locke ventured closer into the jungle. Perfect. Now, who knew where the boar had disappeared too? He was barely sure himself. But it didn’t matter, not really. He was hunting, in the jungle, and people depended on him. He was alive. flashback triggered: abclost.proboards40.com/index.cgi?board=rpgbios&action=display&thread=1158086640&page=1#1182952463Then, came the sounds of a boar. He paused for a moment, and then the sounds continued. The noise of hooves picked up, and Locke burst forward, chasing the noises and the black, blurry movement in the grass. The boar burst out of the undergrowth, disappearing into a clump of trees. Locke began to follow, and then stopped. The reason for stopping was the heavy, mechanical noises that were so familiar the first night. The boar squealed helplessly, and then stopped. And then came the parting of trees as the source of the noise revealed it self. And then there was no possible way to move. He couldn't run away. He didn't want to. This...thing of...incredible beauty, incredible power...there was nothing else to do but stare right at it as it seemed to stare right into him.

JACK ***Jack enters from F3 - Outskirts of Survivors Camp*** Jack ran through the jungle. Not really sure what he was looking for. He hadn't seen his father for almost 10 minutes. But Jack couldn't stop now, he need answerers, he needed to get this off his chest, he needed to move past it. And the only way in doing those things as to find his father. "Where are you! Where are you!" Jack shouted, almost literally spinning to scope out every direction in the jungle. "Where are you!" FlashbackJack continued following his father's figure. As he came to an opening he was completely disoriented. He paused to catch his breath, but also to catch his barrings. He looked around the jungle frantically as he was obviously completely out of breath. He wasn't sure why, but he almost immediately turned around. The figure was stopped in his tracks with his back to Jack. Jack paused for a minute before bolting after him, but as he did so. He tripped over a branch. He tumbled down a very steep hill. And all of a sudden, he was flipping over the edge of a cliff. He quickly grabbed a branch the hung off the edge. Jack looked down, it almost completely threw him off. It seemed the rumors of not looking down where true. Jack was frozen, he didn't want to do anything in case he were to fall. He held on tight, but it seemed to be back firring as he noticed his grip on the branch starting to slip.

***Locke enters***
Finding Jack had been rather easy. The deep marks in the mud that spelled out the brand name of Jack's shoes, the way bushes and branches had been pushed aside recklessly. And of course, the shouting. And shouting was not a good thing to do in the jungle.
He followed the shouting, although upon finding Jack perhaps he should've found him sooner. Because the island doctor had disappeared over a cliff.
John could still make out grunts and groans, however, meaning he was alive and straining to get up. He quickly and carefully came to the edge of the cliff, stretching his hand out for Jack. "Take my hand. Come on."

JACK
He looked up to see a hand reaching over the edge. Jack's first assumption was that it was the figure of his father. Jack froze, he wasn't sure if he wanted to trust what ever he or it was. But was the person came closer to the edge, Jack could see now that it was Locke.
"Take my hand. Come on."
Jack, not thinking twice. Threw his arm up, letting go of the branch. Jack grabbed a tight hold around Locke's hand. And as Jack was ready to be pulled up. He placed his foot on the side of the cliff to give himself an extra boost.

Locke grasped Jack's hand tightly, putting all his strength into lifting Jack up. With a mighty heave and extra help from Jack, he pulled the doctor up as the vine he had clutched to broke free. They rolled back onto the ground, breathing heavily and sweating on their backs. Still catching his breath, John looked over at Jack. "Are you okay?"

JACK
Jack rolled over onto the ground. He lay there for a moment, a long moment as he tried to catch his breath.
"Are you okay?"
Jack's mind was still trying to process everything that was happening to him. His head was spinning, but as he began to calm down a bit. What Jack did next could not be explained by any rational thought. Jack began laughing, not just chuckling, he was laughing hysterically, not really helping the image of him being sane. He just laughed.

He looked confused for a moment, and then chuckled along with Jack. "I'll take that as a yes." he said, and with a slight groan, got to his feet. He outstretched his hand for Jack to grab. "Thirsty, Jack?"
