"Oh, TiVo...I miss TiVo," she sighed. "I miss hot showers, and flannel pajamas, and chocolate-chip cookies, and Britcom box sets, and pints at the Cat. I don't miss the traffic on the Freeway, though."

"I miss....too many things. I miss my cats, I miss my CD selection, I miss long, hot baths, I miss....actually, I miss my cousin Lawrence, which is a little surprising...." he said, suddenly remembering not what, but who he missed. Then, he smiled. "I don't miss most of my family, though."

I blushed slightly at what he'd said. Seemed there were several people here who were just way too flattering, but I didn't say anything because it would only lead to more awkwardness of them feeling like they'd have to elaborate or try to convince me, so I only remarked on the island. "Yes," I began, looking around. "It's very beautiful here. It'd be a perfect place if it wasn't for the tree-knocking-down growling thing roaming around. There's always something," I said smiling.

"I don't miss most of my family, though."
"Yeah, I can sympathize with that all too well," she stated. "We choose our friends but not our families, eh? We just have to learn how to deal, possibly by putting several time zones between us and them. Anyway, this cousin Lawrence--what's so missable about him?"

"Ah, yes, we had that exact same problem when I visited Norway." he smirked.

"I honestly...don't know. He was dumb as a rock, he was a bully, whenever he got a new girlfriend he went and jumped on the couch, but...I dunno..." He didn't particularly want to tell Gwen that while he was in prison, Lawrence was the only regular visitor. "I guess....because I never did have much family, he was probably the one I was closest to."

((OOC--Hehe, those wacky Norwegian monsters. ) She nodded and listened attentively as Ethan spoke of his family. Yep, another castaway on Dysfunctional Island. Sheesh, did anyone here have a happy home life to return to? "I was closest to my younger brother," she said. "He was my co-conspirator, my confidante. Tormented my sister endlessly." She laughed slightly, before going quiet. "He died a few months ago," she confided. "Motorcycle accident. It still doesn't quite feel real, y'know? I get some news that I'm desperate to share with someone, and I have to remind myself that he's not there anymore."

"I'm sorry, Gwen." he said genuinely. "It's the hardest thing in the world to lose family, to lose your best friend. But I suppose there's no point in telling you that. You know it first hand."
He glanced downwards, then back up at her. "When I was eleven, my mom died." He wasn't entirely sure why he was telling her. He never told anyone he didn't have to, never. Perhaps it was due to all the not-talking his father had done with him. Communication problems, or some other crap. "She got into a car crash, and that just left me and my Dad, for a while. And we, uh...we weren't exactly...close."
He didn't want to go on to Gwen, the reason he'd ever told her about his mother was to try and make her feel that she wasn't alone in her grief. "Anyway, it will...eventually pass. The shock, the unreality of it all. I'm...sorry if I'm not being very good at comforting, but...you will feel better, eventually."

"Oh, Ethan, I'm so sorry to hear that," she said. "That must have been awful. I feel so selfish talking about my own grief when I know other people have been through much worse. So many people lost friends and family in the crash." She glanced over at the fuselage.
"But you've been great through all of this," she assured him. "You, Kate, Jake, Jasmine, John, Grace. It's a nice little support system we're building. And thankfully, no fights today. Although it is early..."

He gave a short, good-natured chuckle. "No fights. Besides, I'm not the violent type." he smiled.

I laughed. "Note to self, cross Norway off the list of places to visit." I paused. "That's if we ever get out of here," I joked. I looked out to the ocean as if expecting to see a boat but was greeted with the same view of empty sky and water. Doubt was starting to sneak in on my optimism. "I wonder what's taking them so long." I looked back at Noah with a worried expression. "Do you know anything about rescues? I mean, how long it can take? How long they'll keep looking before giving up?"

"I doubt they'll give up for a while...I mean, it's a large plane, they'll spend a while looking." he shrugged. "I'm not really an expert."

"No fights. Besides, I'm not the violent type." Ethan smiled.
"So says the guy who's fond of knife fights with bears," she remarked sarcastically. "Fine by me, though. I think we need as many peacekeepers as we can get around here."
She turned her attention back toward the fuselage again, thinking she'd seen a familiar silhouette among the wreckage. She shielded her eyes against the sun and focused her gaze. "Am I seeing things, or is that Ana-Lucia?" she asked. "Maybe they're back." She looked at Ethan with a hopeful smile.

"Am I seeing things, or is that Ana-Lucia?" she asked. "Maybe they're back."
"Perhaps. I take it you want to go and see? Just a wild guess." he said, starting to lead towards the returning group. ""I'm guessing they're all back in one piece. Which is similar to something I think I may have said to an air hostess..." He smiled.

"Yeah, I was being very subtle, wasn't I?" she grinned sheepishly.
"I'm guessing they're all back in one piece. Which is similar to something I think I may have said to an air hostess..."
"Fair enough. I shall never doubt you again," she proclaimed. "At least not for the rest of the day." She fell into step beside him as they walked up the beach toward the fuselage.

I nodded. "Yah, I thought the same thing. We were on a 777, which, I think is the next biggest after the 747. I don't think they'd give up looking. At least not for a long time. I mean, with all the technology they have nowadays, I'd think it'd be easier to find missing people." That was one of the positive thought I hold on to, although I did have my doubts in the back of my mind.

Vivian *Enters from F3 - Area of Survivor's Camp* Vivian made her way through the camps, there were a few people up and about. But not everyone got up early, she could see some people still sleeping in the shade of the trees. those people probably couldn't make a shelter, or they didn't think they had to. Rescue was coming....or was it? Vivian thought about it, four days is a long time and she hopped it wouldn't be any longer... rescue needed to come... Her mind slipped back, she couldn't help it....she thought of Kathy and her family. (Flashback)

***Gwen enters from G3 - Fuselage***
She gave a practiced smile as she passed a mournful-looking redheaded woman and continued to head toward the luggage, glancing to the side to make sure Tusti was still with her. She decided to give her the rundown on the men they'd just left. "Sayid is, or perhaps was, military. Obviously knows his communication equipment, and might be the calmest person under pressure that I've ever met," she explained. "Ethan is a teacher as well as a camp counselor. Has a lot of valuable knowledge about roughing it. If you need help with your shelter or finding fruit or anything, he's a good person to ask.
"And obviously there's a lot more people that I haven't met yet, or don't know quite as well, but as I get the info I'll be glad to pass it along to you," she assured Tusti. The woman seemed shy and a bit overwhelmed, which was completely understandable in the circumstances, but Gwen wanted to let her know that she could depend on her.

***Tusti enters from G3 - Fuselage***
As Tusti listened to Gwen give the rundown on Sayid and Ethan, she felt very overwhelmed.
Maybe I should have just stayed where I was, but at least I'm doing something to get us off this island.
"Thanks," Tusti thanked as Gwen finished her advice. "Now, how do we get started?"
