Severin's Shelter Location found in box G3 below: Each box is 3 miles by 3 miles. It takes an hour to walk 3 miles. But also keep in mind that hiking (like that really steep hill to get to higher ground) will take a heck of a lot longer and that if you're running (like from some jungle thing), that you'll get somewhere faster.

DAY 4 ENDS, SEVERAL HOURS HAVE GONE BY, DAY 5 BEGINS

Severin awoke, stretching slightly as he sat up. He put his hand to his face, feeling light stubble. He stood, rubbing his eyes free of sleep and began to pull his shoes on.
New day, and they still hadn't been rescued. No panic or depression yet, which was something. Then again, people probably simply hadn't thought of the magnitude of no rescue. They would never see their loved ones again, and they would be dead to those back home. Anything they wanted to say, or do...they would never do. They would never enjoy a well-prepared meal in a restaurant, buy new clothes, catch a train, watch TV or go on holiday. All their lives would consist of was just...survival, and each other.
He rubbed his eyes again, yawning. Perhaps the reason he was so calm was because there was no one to miss him back home, no matter how much he missed them.
He pulled on his laces tight, and then left his shelter.

"Just take a seat anywhere you like, please." he said, setting the art supplies down as he crouched, shifting through blankets, pillows and clothes, clearing space. "Would you like a pillow, or anything?"

She hung back at the shelter's entrance as he was busily arranging things.
"Would you like a pillow, or anything?"
"Yeah, that'd be fine," she nodded, wondering how exactly one posed for a drawing. Something comfortable enough to hold for thirty minutes or more. Thinking back through the artistic works she'd seen before didn't really help. Especially not the Picasso ones.
"It looks different than I remember...your shelter," she offered. "Not sure if that's the light of day, or perhaps the sobriety."

"Not sure if that's the light of day, or perhaps the sobriety."
"Or perhaps a helpful combination." he suggested, picking a pillow and handing it to her. "Speaking of alcohol, where is it now? Does Jasmine have it stashed in a hiding place, guarded by a tree-breaking mystery monster?"

"Speaking of alcohol, where is it now? Does Jasmine have it stashed in a hiding place, guarded by a tree-breaking mystery monster?"
"After speaking with her this morning, I think our Jasmine might have sworn off all alcohol," she confided, accepting the pillow from him. "At least until lunchtime." She smiled and laid down on her side, her head resting on her propped-up elbow.
"Actually she only had those two bottles in her luggage. The liquor cart from the plane's gone missing. And unless I find something that Sawyer values more than me in my flight attendant uniform, we won't be able to find it."

"Well, I can't say I'm sad about that. I don't even drink." he replied, taking a seat. "I know you're a big girl and don't need me to tell you, but really, pay no attention to Sawyer. Or Ana. Or anyone else who's causing problems, even if they're selfishly asking you to pose for them."

"Duly noted. I shall begin ignoring you immediately," she grinned, reminding herself to find a pose and hold it and stop fidgeting.
"Did you ever go to art school? Or take classes or anything?" she asked. "Before you joined the army."

He smiled. "Fine, I'll shut up and draw."
"Did you ever go to art school? Or take classes or anything? Before you joined the army."
"No, I didn't. I actually began drawing long after I left the army." he explained, picking out the sharpest pencil. "I never took classes or anything like that. Life got in the way."

"I never took classes or anything like that. Life got in the way."
"Doesn't it always," she muttered. "So what sort of things do you usually draw? People, or plants, or seascapes? Plenty of those about..."

"Luckily. Well, yes, although mainly people." He went silent for a moment, the pencil scratching the paper as he began to draw her form. "Since I began drawing in hospital, there were plenty of subjects who didn't really protest."

"The T-Rex skull probably didn't talk back to you, either," she quipped. "My therapist is always telling me I need a hobby. Something to focus my energy on. Watercolors, or knitting, or flower arranging. But as you've probably gathered, I can't bring myself to sit still for extended periods of time."

"For some reason I can't picture Gwendolyn the flower arranger." he said, smiling as he finished up her form, now starting on the details. "I had a therapist too, actually."

"I had a therapist too, actually."
"Lovely people, aren't they?" she remarked. "Makes you wonder what sort of person wants to sit there and help others sort through their neuroses and issues, writing everything down on that yellow legal pad. And I'm not entirely convinced that my therapist isn't just doing the crossword puzzle while he's sitting there, nodding every few minutes or so to make me think he's actually listening.
"Still, your therapist seems to have been successful. I mean, you appear to be well-adjusted, adaptable, not completely freaked out by our situation," she said. "You even figured out how to deal with Ana."

"Well, my therapist was very good." he admitted, now sketching the detail of her clothing. He was temporarily tempted to place the drawing of Gwen in a 'porn star' t-shirt, but decided against it. "But I'm not any of those things, unfortunately. I'm just very good at hiding the fact that my sanity is slowly slipping out of reach."

"Welcome to my world," she replied with a sympathetic smile. Since meeting him the day before, Severin had been compassionate, even-tempered, dedicated to the task at hand, unfazed by her and Jasmine's foolish behavior. He certainly seemed blessed with more self-composure than she ever had.
"This past year, it's been...awful. And then everything changed in Sydney. Suddenly, people weren't who I thought they were. I wasn't who I thought I was," she sighed. "I suppose I've got plenty of time to figure it out now, don't I?"

He looked at her intently, and stopped drawing for a moment. "I'm not very good at consoling people. But in my experience, you don't have some sudden situation where you're forced to face who you are. You keep going through life, finding out more and more about yourself. No one knows the real them, not really. They keep looking, which I suppose is what you're doing, and what I'm doing." He smiled kindly at her, hoping he was helping her in some way. "And that's why people are sometimes not who you think they are. They don't know themselves. Some..."
He sighed, and looked out the open flap in his tent. "Like Ana, some assert control and take charge, others try to help like Jack...some are opportunists, like Mr Sawyer...others are selfish, confused, angry, violent...and a lot are also genuinely caring, kind, helpful..."
He looked back at her, looking her right in her expressive eyes. "I don't like to presume I know who you are, but from what I've seen so far, you fit into one of the second categories."

She held his gaze, knowing that everything he'd said made sense, but still feeling a slight reeling from the identity crisis she'd faced before getting on the plane. She nodded quickly and looked away. "Thank you," I said. "I mean, I try. We're just in such extreme circumstances, and I know there've already been plenty of situations that I could, and should, have handled differently."
She pursed her lips, wondering if she should even bring it up. She'd wanted to discuss it with Jinx, but that would have to wait till she'd recovered. And Severin was just as familiar with the situation as she was.
"Ethan tried to kiss me last night," she blurted, tensing and awaiting his reaction.

He gave her a sympathetic, and began work on her eyes. Eyes, especially those as beautiful and alive as hers, were always difficult to commit to paper with any real accuracy.
"Ethan tried to kiss me last night,"
Her sudden revelation surprised him, and his hand accidentally slipped, skidding a long mark across the drawing. "W-what? What?" he asked, looking at her with real surprise. "That-" He was about to say something slightly more offensive, but held it back, instead finishing awkwardly, "That...tall man?"
