Please remember that this is for everybody's fun and enjoyment and meant to be stress-free. No harrassment or mean comments of your fellow players will be tolerated. If there are any problems, please PM me and I'll do my best to take care of the problem.
JOINING THE RPG: You are welcome to request to join at any time, no matter how far into the RPG we may be. To join, go to the "Request to Join Here" thread, state that you've read and understand the Rules & How to Play, then post your character profile. I will reply in the Request to Join Here thread when your character is approved. After approval is given, to confirm your interest in joining, you then must create a thread for your character in the "Character Bios" board. This will also be the place where Flashbacks are posted.
To be a main character, you are required to post in the RPG at least three days a week. If someone's character is stuck waiting for a response from your character, a moderator has the right to post as your character after three days in order to get that person's character un-stuck. Those who cannot make it online as often can play a minor original character or one of the Others who randomly show up to cause trouble. If you will be going on vacation or will be away from your computer for more than a week, please drop on by the "RPG Rules, Request to Join, Maps, & OOC Discussions" board and let us know in the "Official Attendance Thread" so that your character is not given to someone else. If you'll be gone an extended amount of time (over a week) we may need to come up with a plot idea to explain your character's absense. If one week goes by and we haven't heard from your character (and you haven't notified us you'll be gone) then the active members may use your character for plot development purposes. If two weeks go by and we haven't heard anything from your character (and you haven't notified us you'll be gone) an announcement will be made that the character is available and your character will be given to someone else or killed off. This goes for original characters as well if they are an important part of the plot.
No godmoding. Basically, this means that you cannot control other people's characters or big events on the island, such as the Others or the monster attacking. There will only be a select few who will be controlling those factors, along with any major weather conditions.
Flashbacks are allowed, but not required and must be posted as a reply to your Character Bio. Be sure to put the word "FLASHBACK" in all capital letters in the game location where you're having it and link it to the flashback it pertains to in your Character Bios. Any questions on how to link, please ask me and I'll explain or I can link it for you.
Formatting and punctuation: Be sure to put what is spoken in quotes (" ") and thoughts in italic.
Game Timing: Each week in our time is a day in game time. Our weeks begin on Wednesday and end on Tuesday. This would mean that Wednesdays are the start of a new day and early morning, Saturdays are mid-day, and Tuesdays are late night and end of day. The date on the island as well as any other important factors will always be posted as a header in The LOST Role Play Game board.
Modifying Posts: You cannot modify one of your posts if there is a reply to it, unless you are correcting a spelling error. Please try to keep modifying to a minimum. To avoid spelling errors, you can use the "Spell Check" feature before pressing "Post Message" or type your message in Microsoft Word before posting it on the forum.
Moving Around the Island: There will be several places on the island that you can be. When leaving an area, be sure to make a post in astericks, saying where you're planning on heading. For example, if Kate was on the beach and wants to go find Jack at the caves, I'd do the following in the Beach thread: ***Kate leaves the beach, heading for the caves***. When arriving at the caves, I would put ***Kate arrives at the caves and looks for Jack***. Also use the astericks if you'd like to give a very specific spot in the location.
Playing Multiple Characters: If you have more than one character in the RPG, you must avoid having your characters interract with each other as much as possible as the point of an RPG is to interract with other players.
Note: The rules are always being improved. Please go to the Out of Character RPG Discussion board and let me know if you feel there are any approvements that could be made to the above.
