LEIA
Things were going from bad to worse as the guy that had gone out to rescue the woman was now starting to get into trouble himself. Leia's heart was in her mouth as she watched the events unfold.
"Why's no-one helping him?" She said almost frantically, searching the gathering crowd to see if anyone was about to offer aid. Half of her wanted to take things into her own hands and swim out, but the other half was unsure she'd be of any use. For what seemed like forever, she just paced the edge of the water, chewing on her thumb nail, trying to decide if she was up to it or not. She'd never been put in a situation like this before, knowing what was the right thing to do didn't come easily.
Suddenly, she started to wade out as if she might swim out and join the rescue, but fear overcame her when a crashing wave nearly knocked her off balance and she took a few steps back. Leia wasn't a particularly strong swimmer but the feeling of helplessness made her stomach sink. All she could do was stand thigh high in the water, watching the struggling swimmers in the distance.
Oh, god... they're going to drown....someone do something!

JACK
***Jack swims to the camp area from Beach and Shore***
Jack continued to swim out towards the woman who was drowning. The task appeared to be much more difficult then expected. He continued to fight the current that was trying to pull him back in. He could barely see anything, he just followed the sound of her voice. He looked up to see someone swimming frantically. He couldn't see who it was because of all the waves splashing up around them. Jack put his head down for a second and when he looked up again, there was nothing to see except the empty ocean.
Jack must have been right on top of where the person was. He swam down, trying to find them. But he came up with nothing. He paused trying to get his barrings, and then swam down again, only this time he popped out of the water with Boone in his arms. "Your okay," Jack told him. Boone was coughing up water, barely even able to open his eyes. "Just deep breaths now," Jack told him as Boone continued to cough. "C'mon, just breath. Just breath," the funny thing was, was that Jack was telling Boone this as he tried to catch his own breath.
BOONE
He practically floated in the water, in Jack's arms. He couldn't move a muscle, he was out of breath and feeling very weak. As he started to regain consciousness, he tried to speak, but he kind of just muttered the words, "Did you get her?"
JACK
This was the last thing he wanted to hear. He knew he had dove into the water after a woman, but he just assumed that his perspective was off and it was only Boone in the water. "What?" Jack asked hoping Boone was talking about something else.
BOONE
He struggled to speak, but he had to make sure that Jack saved the woman. "There was a woman. I was trying to...Did you get her?!" Boone prayed Jack had saved her. Otherwise it was his fault, he would have slowed Jack down, causing the woman to drown. Another of Boone's failed attempts at being the hero.
JACK
He looked around, desperately trying to find the woman. Hoping she was still above water. Jack could see her in the distance. He stared at her and then looked at Boone trying to make a decision.
BOONE
"You gotta go back," Boone told him, trying to get Jack to save the woman and to let him drown instead. Boone knew that was the only way to save the woman, and that's the way Boone wanted it to be.
JACK
He continuously looked at Boone, the beach, and the woman, trying to make a decision about his next move. Finally after a little while the woman sank, she slipped under, and Jack knew there was no more time to think. As quick as he could he swam back to the beach with Boone in his arms. Jack would have to act fast if he was to get Boone back and be able to get the woman in time.

KATE
As soon as Jack neared the shore, Kate was running into the waves to help carry Boone out of them. She started to look Boone over for any injuries. Aside from erratic breathing, he was okay, thank God. Confused as to why it wasn't Jack checking Boone over, she looked up only to see him retreating back into the waves. What the heck was he doing? Boone nearly drowned at his attempt and seeing as he was a lifeguard, he had training. "Jack!" she yelled.
HEIDI
After little Sarah pointed out the flailing arms in the ocean, we'd wandered closer alongside several other onlookers. I was surprised when Jack swam back to shore with Boone. I didn't even know he'd been out there. I felt dread as Jack ran back into the water. There was just no way he could get to her. That woman had been carried out so far by the waves now and now we were going to lose Jack if someone didn't stop him. I heard Kate yell out to him and felt a bit of relief. Based on observing the two I knew that they had a friendship and seemed to be two of the few who took charge of things and kept a level head. Kate could talk sense into him. Or maybe not, I thought as he continued on.

JACK
Jack handed Boone over to the others, and without doing, or saying anything he was back into the water.
"Jack!"
"There's someone else still out there!" he shouted in a hurry, trying to avoid wasting any time. If he were to make it back to the woman in time he'd have to faster then he ever thought he could. Immediately Jack was in the water swim with great haste.

Joanna had given up, she had been trying to save herself too long by pushing her self up, she saw Boone coming and tried to hold on, she felt blessed that it was him and held herself up in hope he'd save her. It was useless, he got caught up in the waves and before long she let herself sink into the deep blue water as she caught a glimpse of a second person swimming out. Se tried to hold back her tears as her head went under water
"G...G....G...G-o-od-b-y-e......." she gurgled from the water as she sunk
This was her judgement day, Joanna always thought that dying doing something she ennjoyed would be a good thing, but she never expected to die now a mysterious island of all places. It was too late she had completely sunk and it wasn't long before she lost breath and her lifeless body sunk to the pits of the ocean.

**James run in from G4 - Beach and Shore**
"Leia!" James exclaimed, throwing out his right arm as she showed signs of losing her balance. "What's happening?" he asked urgently, looking from Boone, the survivors currently supporting him and the ocean into which Jack had returned, "who's out there?".

JACK
He swam out as far as he thought the woman would be. The only thing out there was himself and the ocean. Calm waves settling around him. He frantically twist and turned in the ocean trying to find any sign of the woman, but there was nothing. Jack, not giving up hope just yet, swam down a few feet into the water, and resurfaced a few seconds later. He did this 5 or 6 times with a short pause in between, checking to see if she, herself, had resurfaced.
Jack took another deep breath, ready to dive under again. Only this time he held his breath above water. Holding it in as the rage built up. He exhaled violently as he slapped the water around him. Still, he was kicking his legs to keep himself afloat. "ARRGGH!" he yelled out at the top of his lungs. He paused in the water with a large frown upon his face as he sniffled. He was on the brink of jerking a tear, but he didn't. He held it in. He just swallowed all his emotion, that, and some sea water. He kicked harder as he started to sink a bit. He began swimming back with the dreaded feeling of knowing he failed.

LEIA
"Leia!"
Leia felt a strong hand support her elbow as she lost her footing in the shifting sands beneath the water. Though her relief that it was James didn't register on her worried face.
"What's happening...who's out there?".
"Jack's gone back out....there was a woman...." Leia felt terrible that she didn't even know the woman's name. She'd been so caught up in doing her own thing since they'd crashed, that she hadn't really bothered to get to know the other people she was stranded with.

"Jack's gone back out....there was a woman...."
James swallowed nervously and looked up; his focus had been on Leia as she spoke, on her worried expression and the fear in her voice, but now his attention shifted back to the ocean. He could see Jack swimming back toward them, alone...
"What was she doing out there?" James muttered quietly.
I should have seen her sooner...Jack would have had more time to get out there and help if I'd seen her sooner...

Jasmine
Watching as Jack pulled Boone to the shore, yet Jasmine heard cries of a woman. was it to late or could he get back out there in time? Than she watched as Jack ran back into the water and started to swim around, he was like a animal. but the woman's cries were no more and Jasmine knew it was to late for her, now to get Jack back out of the water. surviving out there was a slim chance, you were lucky to make it to shore from far out.
Turning to Leia she smiled, "You ok hun?"
Little Sarah
She knew it was to late, because by the time Jack got back out there... the woman was out of sight. well maybe it was because Sarah was so tiny and she couldn't see her? but she didn't see the ladies head bobbing in and out of the water. Sarah tugged on Heidi's arm, "Is she dead?" Sarah asked bluntly.

KATE
She didn't bother trying anything else to talk Jack out of going back because by the look on his face, it would be a waste of time. He had his mind made up. All she could do now was feel useless as she stood in the water and waited for him to come back. If he showed any signs of struggling, she was ready to try going after him, dumb as that idea was.
HEIDI
I'd also noticed that the woman hadn't surfaced again but I wasn't ready to give up hope so I simply answered, "I don't know." I was of no help just standing here and watching. There were so many other people doing the same who were ready to give a hand and it would probably be in little Sarah's best interest if she didn't witness this whole thing.
"Come on, sweetheart," I said, giving her hand a little tug to get her attention. "Let's get out of the way and fill up our water bottles."

JACK
As he began to reach the beach, he started to slow down. All of a sudden the intensity and the need to act was gone. All Jack could do was swim back and inform the group the another has died. He walked slowly out of the water as he reached to shore. He was absolutely soaked. He didn't say anything to anyone. He just frowned and headed towards his tent to get changed.

BOONE
He sat on the beach looking out with disgust, with a look of failure, of shame. He didn't speak a word to anyone. He just stared out at the ocean, wishing he was still out there instead of Joanna. He looked over his shoulder to see Jack walking down the beach.

KATE
She watched as Jack came back to shore in frustrated anger and just walked right past her. She let him go, knowing he needed some alone time. Kate looked up to see him making his way back toward the shore. He was heading in her direction but in case he wasn't coming to see her, Kate went to meet him halfway.
"Hey," she simply said as she tries to see past the exterior to what was going on in his mind.

JACK
He did not give a responding salutation, he simply went right to the point. "What'd they say?" Jack asked with a very serious tone. He was definitely not in the mood for talking, which is why he only said what was needed. He just felt so beet up inside, he didn't want to share it with anyone.

James watched Jack walk past the survivors and up to his shelter. He turned his gaze back toward the ocean. The doctor was devestated, that much was for certain. Death was everywhere; it seemed unavoidable in this place and pointless though it was, James couldn't shake his own feeling of...what? Failure? Guilt? It was hard to tell. Then Jack reappeared, the look on his face removing all need for explanation. People were still staring, waiting for confirmation of what they all knew to be true. James knew how it felt.
"Come on" he said quietly to Leia. "We should go".

LEIA
Jack had returned to the beach on his own, forlorn and defeated. Leia felt such empathy for him it threatened to overwhelm her. She looked away, back out to sea, where the woman's arms had struggled for attention over the waves. Now there was only blank sky. Her voice didn't carry on the wind anymore. No frantic calls for help could be heard.
"You ok hun?"
Leia looked blankly at Jasmine. She'd just been witness to someone dying and had only been able to stand there and watch. Up until the day they'd crashed, Leia had never seen anyone die. She'd never been so close to such tragedy. Her life back home was ordinary. Safe. Not like here. So how could she really answer Jinx's question?
No, I'm not okay....I'm so far from okay I think I could just curl up now and cry?
That would have been an honest answer, but Leia couldn't help but feel that to actually say it would make her seem so selfish. After all, someone had just died. Boone and Jack had both just risked their lives to save her. Leia's self absorbed feelings surely weren't important compared to that.
"Yeah." Was about all she could say. "I need to get out of these wet clothes." She added, though her tone was distant. Truth was, she just wanted to get far away from everyone. From the beach. Especially from the ocean.
"Come on...We should go".
Leia nodded to James and wandered away with her head down.

SHANNON
"Hey," she said, her arms pulling a pink wrap around her shoulders as she approached Boone. "You okay?" It seemed like a pointless thing to ask, but it was all she could think of. Not like anything would distract Boone from playing the martyr if he'd decided on doing so.
