The Tiger Pit Location found in box G4 below: Each box is 3 miles by 3 miles. It takes an hour to walk 3 miles. But also keep in mind that hiking (like that really steep hill to get to higher ground) will take a heck of a lot longer and that if you're running (like from some jungle thing), that you'll get somewhere faster.

Ana hated to admit it, but Mason had actually done quite a good job making her shovel. She'd expected to have some difficulty getting to grips with it but now that she'd gotten her pace, digging up the jungle floor wasn't as hard as she thought it would be. Still, what she was planning was going to take the better part of a couple of days on her own. Though since rescue was clearly not on the agenda, there were worse things to do than pass the time. In fact, anything that didn't take her mind of Jake being missing was worse than this.
Another shovel full got slung over her shoulder and she paused to wipe the sweat from her brow. It was a nice change to find a spot where she could be alone for a while, just listening to the sounds of the jungle. The location was ideal - not too far from the beach, but remote enough to work undisturbed. Not many of the survivors ventured out this far without good reason.
An hour's digging had created a hole about five feet deep and three feet wide, tapered at one end so that Ana could get in and out on her own. What she intended was going to be much bigger but the heat and lack of water were forcing her to take things slow. The very idea of digging a pit might have been crazy, but she hadn't quite lost all her common sense yet. Perhaps another day of listening to Gwen jabbering on might do that.....

***Ethan enters after some searching***
After some searching, he'd taken a stroll through the jungle outskirts. And what he came across made him suddenly freeze in his tracks. She was digging a pit. That couldn't be good.
He regained himself, and spoke out loud to make himself known. "Digging a hole in the middle of the jungle. I suppose other past-times, while less dangerous, are more boring." he commented.

Ana-Lucia's head whipped around to the sound of the voice, the shovel in her hands instinctively following suit. The last person she expected to see out here was Ethan.
"Very observant." She replied flatly, warily waiting to see what he wanted.

"Very observant."
He gave a good-natured smirk. He scratched at the wound on his nose. "So, what's it really for?"

"Maybe I just wanted to dig a hole." Ana remarked snappily, deciding that she should just ignore him and carry on with what she was doing. He'd probably go away and leave her alone if she was stand-offish with him. People usually reacted that way with her.

"Maybe I just wanted to dig a hole."
"Hm. Nice answer." he said, and crouched down at the edge of the hole. "Look, Ana, I think we got off on the wrong foot. Or the wrong fist." he began, watching her face for some change of expression.
"You probably think I'm the bad guy, I'm not. I'm just a guy, and the stress of everything that's happened made me lose it." he explained. "So, I'm here to ask you if we can start again on better terms."

Ana tossed a shovel full of dirt in his direction angling it so it just missed him.
"You're a guy who tried to kill Sawyer. I saw that with my own eyes. I'd say losing it was a tame way of putting it." She remarked, shoving the makeshift bamboo spade back into the dirt again.

"You're a guy who tried to kill Sawyer. I saw that with my own eyes. I'd say losing it was a tame way of putting it."
"I wasn't going to kill him." he said dismissively, dodging the dirt that flew his way. "I'm not sure why you're defending him, anyway. Look, I'm trying to make amends, here."

Another pile of dirt was unceremoniously dumped at Ethan's feet.
"I never said I was defending him. The guys a jerk." Still hasn't thanked me for saving his life....
Ana carried on digging, unsure whether the twinge that had returned to her previously injured shoulder was just imagined becasue Ethan had showed up.
"And sorry if I'm having a hard time believing you wanna make amends after you threatened to put me in the ground with him if I didn't stay out of it." More dirt got thrown, no attempt this time to deflect it away from Ethan. Deep down, Ana knew she was trying to provoke him into doing something stupid. It'd be easier that way. All his polite and friendly smiling was creeping her out.
"I guess I'm just stubborn like that."

"I guess I'm just stubborn like that."
His expression just turned cold and still. No flicker of emotion played across it. Nothing to suggest he was even human. Calmly, he spoke. "Stubborn is a word I'd use, Ana-Lucia. Is this what I get for extending a hand of friendship?"

If your extended hand of friendship comes any closer, i'll break fingers...
Ana-Lucia looked long and hard at Ethan before finally tossing the shovel at his feet.
"You wanna make amends? How about you help me dig."
It crossed her mind that handing him what could be used very effectively as a weapon was a very stupid thing to do given the bad blood between them, but it was a good test to see if he really did want to apologise. Bad test if he didn't but it wasn't like Ana hadn't done foolish things before. Plus, if he agreed, she'd probably get the job done a hell of a lot quicker.

"You wanna make amends? How about you help me dig."
His eyes flickered down to the shovel at his feet, and he stood. As he stood, he placed his foot under the shovel and kicked it into the air, seizing it tightly and then jumping down into the pit with Ana. "Seems like a fair trade. Dig in exchange for not getting a death glare everytime I look at you."

Ana pondered that for a second before saying, "Fine." The word came out sounding clipped because Ana knew that curbing her 'death glare' as he put it, would be easier said than done. She climbed out at the more tapered end of the hole to give Ethan room to work, sitting on the ground with her arms resting on her bent knees, watching him like a hawk.

He noticed her watching him, and it creeped him out slightly. "While you're admiring my dancer's legs, you could maybe tell me what you, Gwen and whoever else found in the jungle."

Ana rolled her eyes over his description. You think you're funny, huh? Yeah well two can play that game.
"Trees." Ana replied flatly. "I'm no expert, but i'd say that's kinda what you'd expect in a jungle."

He smirked bitterly. "No traps, then? No...arrows, nothing like that?" He dug the spade deep into the ground, and leaned on it, ponderfully thoughtfully, "Gosh, I sure hope Jake didn't stumble into one of those traps. Get an arrow...somewhere."

Ana-Lucia tensed at Ethan's mention of traps. Any suspicion about him suddenly increasing tenfold. There were few who knew about the manmade dangers in the jungle, mostly those who had taken part in the previous days treks. And as far as Ana knew, none of those groups had included Ethan. So how in the hell did he know about the traps? They'd all made an oath to keep it secret from the rest of the survivors. Unless.....
"Gosh, I sure hope Jake didn't stumble into one of those traps. Get an arrow...somewhere."
That made her blood run cold in her veins. Not just the thought of Jake getting hurt, but the delivery of the line almost implied that Ethan knew something about him disappearing.
"What makes you think there's traps in the jungle?" Ana asked, remaining as calm as she could. It took a lot to keep the growl from her voice and the rage from her face, when what she really wanted to do was wail on him until his face resembled a raw quarterpounder. But this was more important than just her getting revenge or making a point. Things had almost taken on the atmosphere of an interview room at the station. Ana's brain shifted into interogation mode.

"What makes you think there's traps in the jungle?"
He sensed the change in atmosphere. The slight stiffness of her tone, as if she was keeping her anger in check. Good. "I overheard that young British girl talking about them. Reba, or something." he said, waving his hand dismissively as if the details weren't important. "Don't worry. I won't tell anyone else." He dug the spade back deep into the earth. "Doesn't make Captain America's chances for survival all too good, though."

"I overheard that young British girl talking about them. Reba, or something."
What a crock. Ana knew a lie when she heard it. Though at first she had thought he meant Gwen had spilled the beans. She might have believed there was an element of truth in that since she'd seen the two of them getting all cosy together the first couple of days.
"Don't worry. I won't tell anyone else....Doesn't make Captain America's chances for survival all too good, though."
"Jake's gonna be fine." Ana replied, a little too quickly.
