"If you can both just stop for one second-!" he said, walking quickly to keep up with the pair of them.

"That thing could change its mind any second. We need to keep moving," she insisted, the new urgency of the situation preventing her from seeing or feeling the trip wire underneath her foot as she stepped forward.

His eyes wandered downward, and saw the small wire beneath Gwen's foot. What had she said about traps?
"Gwen!" he yelled, moving forward quickly as he heard a series of snaps set off in the undergrowth. He leaped forward, pushing her out of the way just as a long, thing arrow cut through the air. He realized it was an arrow because he got a very good look at it when it ripped into his knee, sending a searing blaze of pain up his leg. Unable to keep his balance, he fell to the ground with a short yell of agony.

She hit the ground with a hard thud that knocked the wind out of her, unsure what had just happened. Until she heard Severin's pained cries. She'd set off one of the traps and now he'd been hurt.
Her own scratches and bruises were forgotten as she quickly crawled back to his side and saw an arrow lodged in his leg. "Oh my God! Ana, we have a problem!" she called to her.

He groaned in pain. Still, not the worst pain he'd ever been in. He clenched his teeth, glancing down at the wound. Wait. What if there was more than one arrow?
He looked up at Gwen. "Are you all right?" he asked between pained breaths.

"Are you all right?"
"I'm fine, I'm fine," she said quickly. "You're the one we need to worry about. Just...try not to move."

"You're the one we need to worry about. Just...try not to move."
"All right. I can do that. In fact, I think if I close my eyes, I'll suddenly be very good at that." he said, holding his leg and feeling warm blood over his fingers "Oh, look. Blood. We should probably do something about that."

"All right. I can do that. In fact, I think if I close my eyes, I'll suddenly be very good at that."
"No, no, no," she pleaded, putting an arm under his head to support him. "You need to stay with me, Severin; you need to focus. We're going to get you help. Ana!" she called again, having no idea what to do if he went into shock or continued to lose blood. A tourniquet, maybe? She needed something to make a tourniquet...

Ana heard a commotion behind her followed by a pained yell from Severin. When she stopped and turned around, the pair of them were in a heap on the floor. For a second, she thought that Gwen had done the dizty air hostess thing and tripped over a tree root or something. The urgency in her voice told Ana different.
"Oh my God! Ana, we have a problem!"
Instantly Ana began to run back. Something was definately not right. She skidded to the floor as she reached them, seeing the blood and the arrow and the pale face of Severin all at once.
"What the hell happened!?!" She asked, trying to get a good look at the wound. Where the hell did an arrow come from? Was it a trap or was someone actually shooting at them? Instinctively, she glanced around to make sure they weren't in any other danger. Seeing nothing, she turned her attention back to his knee, ripping the material away to get a better look.

"What the hell happened!?!"
"I...I don't know. I must have set off one of the traps, and he pushed me out of the way," she answered. "What do we do?"

"Should've known this would be your fault." Said Ana, concentrating on what she was doing. Severin's knee was bleeding badly, but it would only get worse if she tried to take out the arrow. First priority was to stop the bleeding or at least slow it down. Without even asking, she grabbed hold of his belt and unfastened it, pulling the leather free with one swift tug.

"Should've known this would be your fault."
She stared at Ana. "Oh, yes, this is exactly what I wanted to happen," she shot back, as Ana set about placing his belt around his leg. She looked to Severin with a reassuring smile. "Just hang on. You'll be fine," she asserted, gently brushing some of the hair back from his face which was rapidly losing color.
"Should we try to get him back to Jack?" she asked Ana.

Ana ignored Gwen's sarcastic comment and tightened the belt as much as she could. Hopefully, even if they had to walk him back to camp, it would prevent too much blood loss.
"Should we try to get him back to Jack?"
"Ideally, yes." She said abruptly. "Didn't one of you get some medical supplies from him before you left? We need something we can use as bandages."

"Oh, yes, Severin did," she said. She apologized and lifted him as carefully as she could in order to get to his backpack, retrieving the first aid kit Jack had given them and handing it over to Ana.
"What about Ruby?" she suggested. "She's a nurse, and they can't have gone too far. Closer than the beach, at any rate."

"Should've known this would be your fault."
"Ana...!" he growled, trying to ignore the pain. A difficult task, as the belt tightened roughly around his leg.
"Just hang on. You'll be fine,"
As Gwen brushed hair out of his face and smiled reassuringly, he found it helped a great deal. He smiled back.
"What about Ruby? She's a nurse, and they can't have gone too far. Closer than the beach, at any rate."
"I still regret bringing her along. Perhaps bleeding to death might just convince me..." he said, straining to stand with Ana and Gwen. He felt like his leg was going to crack beneath him, and lifted it up slightly, keeping it off the ground.

"I still regret bringing her along. Perhaps bleeding to death might just convince me..."
"No one is bleeding to death," she declared, hurriedly getting up to support him since he insisted on standing. "At least not today." She looked to Ana for confirmation that this was a true statement.
"Though I do wish you'd let Ana finish patching you up before you start off again," she advised.

Ana rummaged through the few basic first aid supplies that they'd brought, finding a couple of sterile bandages that would just have to do for now. When Severin began to stand up, she did the same, only she didn't move to help him, she just stood with her hands on her hips and a disapproving scowl on her face.
"Though I do wish you'd let Ana finish patching you up before you start off again,"
"You keep hoping Gwen and I are gonna agree on something, well now's the time. Sit your ass back down!" She ordered him, pointing to the spot he'd just moved from.

He was stunned for a moment by Ana's sudden order, and then submissively started to obey.
The strain on his leg proved too much, combined with the shock of Ana and Gwen working together. He slowly eased back down onto the ground as Ana ordered. He bit the inside of his lip to deal with the pain.

For once, Gwen was grateful for Ana's abruptness, and she settled back down to the ground alongside Severin as Ana started wrapping bandages around his leg. She had no medical advice to offer, and any questions about what they should do or where they should go would likely be met with a silent scowl from her.
She took one of the water bottles from her pack and tried to offer it to Severin. "Well, I don't know about you, but I am so ready to get back to Los Angeles," she began rambling, trying to get his mind off the pain. "Never thought I'd say that, I can tell you. And I think one of the first places I'll go is Santa Monica Pier. It's made of these wooden planks that still creak when you walk across them. Meanwhile, the waves are crashing underneath your feet, and the wind is blowing the smell of the saltwater right in your face. From the end of the pier, there's this marvelous view of the sunset over the Pacific. All the reds and golds and deep blues and purples. There's always these food vendors, like hot dogs and pretzels. Oh, and these weird crafts people--velvet paintings of Jimi Hendrix, henna tattoes, beads in your hair, not sure if that would be a good look for you..."

Ana silently packed the bandages around the wound so that they'd keep the arrow held in place while they moved Severin. The last thing he needed was to catch it on a bush or something and make the hole in his knee worse. Of course wrapping up his knee so that the blood stopped pouring out was about the limit of Ana's medical knowledge.
She listened to Gwen distracting him with some mindless drivel about how picturesque Los Angeles was. She was tempted to inform her that most of the food vendors on the pier there opperated without a liscense. Or any hygiene standards whatsoever and that most of them had accomplices that picked people's pockets for a living. Or that the wierd crafts people were, more often than not, crack addicts and drug pushers. But, Gwen's little monologue was doing something to distract Severin from no doubt agony, so she kept her mouth shut. She'd crush her dreams later.
