Fox
Looking around the area for Medicine, Fox was becoming a little more than irritated. No one was that great of a help, Finally after Ten minutes of searching she found a few things she could use to clean a wound. Taking some Boiling water from a pot on the fire, and some clothes that just lay around. The hot water should help keep the bandages clean and help stop infection.
Fox knelt down next to Kyle, still no emotion on her face. She looked as if she didn’t care but in fact she was worried about the wound. “So what did you impale yourself with?” Fox removed the pressure on the wound and replace it with a ripped piece of cloth.
The many years that Fox had traveled the jungle with her husband she learned a few tricks of the trade. Including old remedies, but sadly enough she would have to travel into the forest to get them. That was something she wasn’t looking forward too, but hell if this wound got infected it could make it a lot worse. Walking over to the small group, “Just keep changing the bandages, I have to get some stuff that I saw nearby earlier.”

Scarlett
She watched from just behind the guy with dark hair and pale skin, only half heartedly listening. Scarlett pulled back her long, curly dirty blonde hair and pouted - someone could be admiring her. Pulling on a pair of large, white sunglasses she let out a loud sigh. As the man took a step backwards she sniffed, "Be careful." And took a step to his left, glaring at him behind her sunglasses.

KYLE
"You want to put him to trial, there should be some sort of jury. Goodwin, Fox, Compeyson, and Kyle, if he's up to it."
"Yeah, sure," he replied, "Just give a couple hours and I should be fine." He rubbed the excess blood from his stomach on his fingers, "...I think."
“So what did you impale yourself with?”
"Piece of glass," he replied, "...out in the jungle."

AARON Aaron glanced around, and realized he was outnumbered. He didn't believe a word of this new guy had said, but he would have to wait to prove himself right it would seem.
"I never wanted to be judge, jury and executioner," he said. "No one should have that much power. We can wait, that's fine, but we need to keep an eye on him. Take care of him, but let him know what is coming. Maybe if I'm right and he's one of them, maybe he'll just get afraid and run away."
He glanced around at everyone. He liked that they were working together to decide what to do, he had seen the effects of one person holding too much power.

Eko looked down at the stick he was making for himself. It was not intended as a weapon. Instead, it was to be like a shepherd's rod- the one that Saint David mentioned in Psalm 23. He would help guide the flock.
At the moment, the flock seemed to need guidance now. The other survivors from the tail section of the plane were arguing about a man who had come from the jungle. They were afraid and they had every right to be. They had been attacked and violated by... people. Strange people who seemed to come from the island.
But the people who had attacked them were still people. They had a right to life too, but Eko had killed some of them. He had broken his promise to the people of Yemi's church and now he had sworn an oath of silence. He would not say a word. Instead, he would sit and reflect on what he had done and try to find some peace with the Lord.
He looked up from carving Scripture into the stick and looked over at the lone man who had come from the jungle. He was afraid too. And that made him, to a degree, like the rest of them on the beach. If the man from the jungle was innocent, the trial would be wrong. Yet another man would die here on the beach. Eko could prevent that from happening. If he stood by and did nothing, there would be even more blood on his hands. If he made sure that the rst of the survivors understood the path laid out before them, he might earn a small bit of redemption for his many past sins.
He didn't want to break his oath of silence still. Breaking one promise to keep another was still breaking a promise and the Lord frowned on such things. Perhaps, he resolved, if he took the words that he would speak from the Bible, it would not be considered breaking his oath. It would be The Word that he would speak, not his own words.
He picked himself up and approached the main body of the crowd. He made sure he had everyone's attention with a concerned frown and then said, "Know what is within your sight, and that which is hidden will be revealed to you." A simple quotation from the Gospel of Thomas. To give further meaning to the verse, he pointed at his forehead, then to the man from the jungle, and then to the one they called Kyle. He looked into the eyes of the rest of the survivors expectantly, to make sure they understood his meaning.

Scarlett
Tilting her head to one side she tried to take in what the man was saying, not completely comprehending what he was saying, she remained silent. Scarlett wasn't one to pay attention of what was going on around her until she was concerned in the matter. Since the crash she'd been trying to read the people around her, this was something she'd figured she'd later be able to use to her advantage. It wasn't school, but the groupings that had formed over the past four days seemed to resemble that and she was determined to be at the top, as always.

ETANA
The man's words were a mystery to her, and she wasn't sure what he meant. But Aaron's intentions were more than clear.
"Take care of him, but let him know what is coming. Maybe if I'm right and he's one of them, maybe he'll just get afraid and run away."
"If I recall correctly, you've already assaulted Compeyson on the assumption that he was one of them," she reminded him, "so maybe you should not be so eager to jump to conclusions. Every time they've come, they've done so in the night with no warning. This man clearly announced his presence to us."

Eko nodded emphatically. This woman understood his words. But some still seemed confused by what he was trying to say. He asked the Lord, with his thoughts, to help him find the words that needed to be spoken.
He pointed with his stick at the man from the jungle. "He who is without sin, let him be the one who casts the first stone."
And that, he felt, was all that needed to be said and all that could be said. He glanced over the rest of the survivors again, making sure they had paid attention, and then stood to the side. He could not bring himself to be the first to offer the man from the jungle some help. First Eko had to help himself, and that would take him some time.

"I made a mistake, and I'd be the first person to admit that," he said, glancing at the other survivors around him. "I'm not some sociopath, I'm a psychologist. Listen, I'm not asking you to hand me the gun... but... maybe they realized that the last time around the strategy they were using before wasn't working well for them."
He glanced at Eko as he said that last line, before turning to Etana.
"What if they decided to send in a spy? To find out who's a threat and who's not."
He sighed, and looked down at the ground. He looked back at Eko and spoke in a low voice "Then Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve, went to the chief priests in order to betray him to them."
"We find out who this guy is," Brooks spoke, before quickly adding. "I don't want to hurt the fellow...but I don't trust him."

Paul watched them from his spot just out of ear shot. Their group dynamics were fascinating. The tall African man with the blood on his hands had spoken perhaps two sentences since the beginning of the discussion. Despite his relative size, strength and the fact that he was armed with a weapon which came in the form of a stick, the body language with which he was regarded by the rest of the group was... awkward. No one seemed to respond to his comments verbally. He was, in effect, being ignored. Paul was unsure if this was a good or a bad thing.
The other man- the one with the sharpened stick- seemed to have started the conversation on the offensive. But now he seemed to react defensively. The initial shock of Paul's appearance had seemed to startle him and set him into a series of instinctive reactions. But now he was visibly calmer and the rest of the group seemed to be attacking his initial arguments in favour of... Paul wasn't sure if he wanted to know exactly what the man with the sharpened stick had proposed in the beginning. He seemed to be a very fearful but observant man.
There was simply too much to take away from their interactions at the moment. The way they stood spoke thousands of words. The exclusion of the African man seemed to be similar almost to Paul's own exclusion. But the tall African man had not forced himself into the interior of the group and to the forefront of its discussion. He seemed content to be on the fringe. The man with the sharpened stick, though, insisted with his presence that he be part of the decision-making process. Fascinating...
He almost didn't want to interrupt their discussion. But he was no lip reader. Just observing their cultural geography was only one facet of something much more complex.
He finished tying his make-shift bandage- part of a torn sleeve from his dress shirt- and slowly and carefully stood up. He made deliberate movements to make sure he didn't start to lose consciousness again. "So..." He began, to get their attention. "Have I been voted off the island or what?" He smiled hesitantly. "I promise to share the immunity talisman with all of you, if I find it... and, uh, hope you all would do the same for me."

Brooks realized he had been thrust into a position where he was viewed as sort of a McCarthy of them.
He pointed to Etana and wispered. "I think you should let him know what's going on," he looked at the rest of the group. "You obviously have skill in dealing with people of.....multipule cultures. I suggest we let him know what happened to us, explain why he's being put on trial. From why my wife tells me, they like subjects briefed before trial."
He shot a darting look at Kyle, then focused on the rest of the group.
"Maybe, by the end of the night we will know more about this guy--or maybe he'll be like a firefly in a jar."

ETANA
"I think you should let him know what's going on..."
"You know, in some cultures, they shoot the messenger," she remarked. But she did seem to be the most capable one of delivering the news to the stranger.
She walked away from the group to address him. She gave him a pleasant smile and made sure to keep her posture open and accommodating. "I'm sorry; things have been rather stressful and uncertain for us since the crash. We've been doing the best we can with very limited resources, which you can imagine is a great challenge in and of itself.
"Made more difficult by the fact that we seem to have an unknown enemy," she said, shifting into a more serious tone. "The second night that we were here, people came from the jungle and took three of us. They were dressed crudely, with no identification. We think they were probably on this island before us. We don't know why they attacked us, and we don't know when or if they'll return. But everyone on this beach has been living in fear ever since."
She glanced back at the group from which she'd came. "We have to look out for each other, protect each other until rescue arrives. They don't trust you, they would like to think the worst of you. Tomorrow they will ask you questions, and I suggest you answer them honestly," she advised.

"I'm sorry; things have been rather stressful and uncertain for us since the crash. We've been doing the best we can with very limited resources, which you can imagine is a great challenge in and of itself."
Understandable. Paul made note of the presence of the other woman. She was involved in communications or some form of public representation in the outside world, he surmised. A variable he had weighted perhaps too lightly when he had been formulating hypotheses on what would happen to this group's society and social dynamics. It somewhat distorted what he was attempting to learn. But it was in line with some elements of a Marxist analysis.
His heart skipped a beat. It's already happened. The List has already been made. He screwed his face up into an incredulous look of disbelief. "What? Impossible! This is a deserted island in the middle of nowhere. No one lives on this island! What you're trying to tell me... just doesn't make sense." He looked over at the tall African man. Saw the blood on his hands again. Who had died during the attack? Who had Ben sent? He felt himself growing sick, wondering if it had been...
"That blood doesn't belong to a boar does it?" The rest of the woman's words were lost on Paul. Instead, all he could see was the tall African man with the blood of one of his friends on his hands, all he could hear was the crash of the waves on the beach.

BROOKS
He watched carefully as Etana delivered the news, observing this man's reaction to the news. "Traditionally, liars, when caught in a lie will go on the defensive, while people whom are telling the truth traditionally go on offense. Of course other factors can also weigh in on what someone reaction will be. In the end, a liar will almost always slip up somewhere."

"There are a lot of things here that don't make sense. So I suggest you get some rest. Can I get you anything? Some food or water?"
She- that is to say, the one who was increasingly seeming to be the leader of these survivors- was still refusing to answer his questions. He could yell at her. He could scream obscenities and make threats. But he doubted it would get him anywhere towards finding out who the tall African man had killed. It would have to wait.
"I haven't eaten or drank much since the crash. I was trying to find... was ist das Wort auf Englisch? Information cards? The papers in the pouch in front of your seat which say how fast the plane can fly. That way I might be able to guess how long it would take before help arrived."
He narrowed his eyes at her before continuing. "But before any food, drink or rest- I need some answers. Who are you? And why are you all acting so strangely?" He decided this was perhaps too harsh. So he added a little more gently, "Trust is something which works both ways. You want to know who I am. I can understand that. But you also need to understand that I want to know who you are too. You get to ask me a question and I get to ask you a question. We both have to answer truthfully. Deal?"
He held out his hand to shake hers. If she accepted, that is.

She looked from his outstretched hands up to his eyes. She might not be a psychologist like Aaron, but what he was asking seemed reasonable for an injured man who'd stumbled into their midst and passed out while they all stood there without helping. Kindness and compassion being traded for paranoia and suspicion, a trend which needed to be stopped.
She extended her own hand and placed it in his. "Ja haben wir ein Abkommen*," Etana agreed in the man's native German. "We're the survivors of Flight 815, just like you. And we are only doing what we have to in order to make sure that no one else is lost to this island. We were mistaken to think that we were safe here; we will not make that mistake again."

Paul sighed, relaxing the tension that he had built up within himself, unsure as to what to expect from the survivors. There was still some semblance of civilization here. Which was impressive, all things considered. "Fair enough."
The woman's answer in German surprised him. German was an uncommon language among those from Africa or of African descent. French was much more commonly spoken as a second or third language. He smiled at the familiar sound of the language, "Sprechen Sie Deutsch? Ah, I suppose I'm cheating. You answered two of my questions, more or less. It should be your turn." He crossed his arms over his chest in a mock 'macho' pose. "Do your worst."

She smiled slightly and shook her head. "I am not your interrogator, nor do I wish to be. My only question is whether you would like any food or water?" she asked.
"And I only speak enough German to get by. I grew up in Rwanda but we fled to Belgium before the genocide. My father wished for us to learn the language of our neighbors, which I suppose he was right to do, although Dutch was always a problem for me. And then I returned to Rwanda several years ago to help rebuild my country. My name is Etana Beauchamp, by the way," she added, a bit embarrassed that she'd forgotten basic introductions in all the pre-trial briefing.
