BEN
"We need to head back. Now."
I held my head, trying not to panic, or do anything else stupid that I was known to do. I usually had this thing when I was either upset, or just pissed off that I wouldn't say a word, I'd just go along with what everyone else was doing, and this moment seemed to be as good as any. I threw my hand forward, scraping through my hair. Never before had I felt to endangered, and it honestly sucked.
"It'll be night soon. Should we keep going, or make camp here for now?"
I was in no ruck to hang out in the freaky forest at night, but I guess, it would be better then walking through it at night.

SAYID
"It'll be night soon. Should we keep going, or make camp here for now?"
"We should make camp." Sayid answered Severin. "Walking through the jungle through the dark would not be a wise decision. I'm sure I don't need to remind everyone of what we saw moving around in the jungle on our first night here."
With the transciever back in his hand from Ana Lucia, he turned it off immediately to conserve what little battery power it had left, and wrapped it carefully back into it's blue cloth covering, taking off his backpack to put it back in. "We sleep here tonight, and head out at first light."
CHARLIE
Usually, Charlie would have made a comment about the camp-out they were about to have. But unusual to his normal behaviour, he remained quiet and looked away from the group, out towards the jungle, reliving the memory of what happened at the cockpit.

"Now why would you have to remind us of that?" I asked.

SAYID
"Now why would you have to remind us of that?" I asked.
"I won't repeat myself." Sayid replied. "We should get a fire started, and gather firewood and kindling for burning." he continued, turning back to his role as solider, doing his duties.

"Don't worry love, that thing seems to love trees more than it does clear mountain ranges, like this one." Charlie reassured her. "And that wouldn't be a good idea, luv. Trust me on this one. You won't make it back to the beach..." he said seriously, the thought about what had happened at the cockpit still fresh in his mind. "C'mon, it won't be so bad. It's not exactly bare ground, it's grass." he smiled, trying to change the subject.

Ana didn't stop walking. She didn't want to still be here. She was angry for the fact she was in this situation in the first place, and frustrated because there wasn't a damn thing she could do to get out of it. She'd spent enough time with these people already and her patience for tolerating them any longer was wearing thin. She'd walk all night if she had to, but she wasn't staying here.

He saw Ana just...take off. Just leave. Just grow a scowl on her face, and start walking. She was certainly no push-over, something he knew well in the short time he'd known her. When she was walking, so powerfully, he was uncertain anyone could stop her from going where she wanted, doing what she wanted.
"Ana-Lucia, wait." he began, calmly. She continued to walk. "Ana!" He ran, catching up with her, and tried to keep up with her as she strode powerfully away from the group."Where are you going? Back to camp?"

"Whadda you care?" She said, not breaking stride to look at him.

"Well, I do care. I care that you'll go into the jungle, unarmed and alone, and get attacked by a polar bear or some other creature. I care that it'll get dark before you get back and you'll lose your way." he said in his calm, well-spoken, smooth tone. He eventually got in front of her, stopping her from going forward. "And I just generally care. So why are you leaving the relative safety of the group to try and get back to camp? I just care enough to be curious."

If he says 'I care' one more time I'm gonna smack him in the jaw....
Forced to stop and confront him, Ana-Lucia adopted her usual defensive stance, her arms folded and a frown on her face.
"You're honestly telling me you'd rather stay here?" She studied his face for a second, wondering what it was he really wanted. No-one cared about her back in the real world, why should some-one start here.
"I'll take my chances, thanks." She said with an edge of sarcasm as she moved around him and carried on walking.

"You're honestly telling me you'd rather stay here?"
"It's preferential to going in there and being eaten." he explained.
"I'll take my chances, thanks."
"I'm sure that your sarcasm will be a mighty weapon against the dangers in the jungle." he said with his own brand of sarcasm. Then, with more sympathy, he said, "I know it seems hopeless right now, after that transmission. And I'm not so foolish as to tell you to look on the bright side. But you know as well as I do that being stubborn and heading into the jungle close to nightfall would be a very, very silly thing to do."

Ana stopped and looked at the floor. Why'd he have to always be right?
She sighed deeply, letting her arms fall by her side. She was just being stubborn, as per usual. No matter how tough and independant she thought she was, wandering into the lion's, or rather the polar bears, den in the middle of the night, was just reckless and she knew it. So what, was she trying to prove something to herself? That she didn't need anyone, or that she could get picked off quickest?
"You think she's still here?" She finally said, turning to Severin.

"You think she's still here?"
He glanced downwards, and then back up at her. "The pessimist in me doubts it. Sixteen years." he said. "But I don't know. For all we know, she could be. But is it important? We're here now, and we're going to survive long enough to be rescued. I'm not just saying that. I believe that."
He had things in his life that were important. Things he needed to get back to. Leonora. He needed to get back to her. This island, this place...it wouldn't defeat him.

"Of course it's important!" She snapped, quickly reeling herself in before she bit his head off. "The transmission implied she was alone. I'm just wondering what being alone for so long does to a person. What she'd be like if she was still here."
Insane...was the only thing she could think of. Alone for sixteen years would make anyone go crazy. She sat down on the ground where she'd stopped, as if to admit defeat. Her legs out in front of her, her elbows resting on her bent knees as she watched the sun beginning to set.

He sighed, and crouched down in front of her. "Like I said, I doubt she'd be alive. But if she is...she probably wouldn't be well, to put it lightly." he said. "Being alone, well....it can drive a person insane. It can make you sick."

Ana didn't want to admit that's how she'd been feeling for some time now, so she changed the subject a little.
"What's your take on the polar bear?" She asked him.

"What's your take on the polar bear?"
He paused for a moment. "That's one of those questions that's almost impossible to form an answer to. A polar bear in a tropical climate. Obviously, that's a rarity. I don't know where to begin thinking about where it came from." he said. "Crashed plane or boat transporting...polar bears? Poachers, fur-traders, zoos, people rich enough to own animals like that, it's not uncommon. Still...does tug at the mind, doesn't it?"

"It's yet another thing that's bugging me about this place." She idly picked up a small chunk of dirt and threw it in the direction of the trees as if to punctuate her frustration.
"I'm pretty sure it's not what we heard the first night. I doubt even a bear that big could knock down trees so easily."

"I'm pretty sure it's not what we heard the first night. I doubt even a bear that big could knock down trees so easily."
"I agree. So, to conclude, we have...a French woman who's either died or has never been rescued...a polar bear...and what I can best describe as a monster." he said, summing it up. "Could be worse."
