CHARLIE
"I dunno." Charlie shrugged. "I haven't a clue in the slightest. It couldn't have been on the plane, but who the bloody hell knows what they're putting into cargo storage these days." He looked at Shannon for a second before turning back to look ahead of them. "But you have a excellent and valued point, luv. How could a polar bear survive in the jungle? Even if it's not sweating to bloody death in that fur coat, what the hell is it eating that could have made it survive for so long?" Charlie had a feeling he didn't want to know the answer to that question. "Don't answer that. It was rhetorical."

Ana came up behind Shannon and Charlie, overhearing the last part of their conversation.
"It didn't survive." She cut in. "It's dead." She added firmly.
"One dead bear is the least of our worries." She pushed past Charlie and began to walk ahead of the pair.
"You really think that's what was knocking down trees the other night?" She asked over her shoulder. Not waiting for an answer, she continued.
"There's something bigger out there, something way more powerful than that dead bear. And maybe, if I'm lucky, all your talking's gonna attract it over here and it'll eat you." She gave them both a look before turning back.

Severin sighed, and jogged up to Ana. "You know..." he said, keeping his voice low. "They're just children, really. And understandably panicked, maybe you should cut them some slack, a little?"

BEN
"There's something bigger out there, something way more powerful than that dead bear. And maybe, if I'm lucky, all your talking's gonna attract it over here and it'll eat you."
"Well aren't you the pacifist," I directed to her, but it was more a friendly tone, then a sarcastic tone.

"They're just children, really. And understandably panicked, maybe you should cut them some slack, a little?"
"Cut them some slack?" Ana asked Severin with an incredulous look. She gave him a short, joyless laugh before continuing.
"Since I left Sydney, I got sucked out the back of a crashing plane. Nearly drowned in the ocean. I almost got gored by an ill-tempered boar and nearly fell to my death trying to rescue a guy stuck in a tree. Now I can add attacked by a rampaging polar bear to that list because this guy's singing voice," she pointed to Charlie, her temper flaring, "apparently pisses them off!"
Shaking her head, Ana carried on walking, throwing her hands up in frustration as she went.
"Well aren't you the pacifist,"
Ana walked past Ben just as he spoke, and if looks could kill, they would have been his last words.
"Don't start with me." She warned, in a low angry voice.

SAWYER
Sawyer was about to deny to Sayid that he was the prisoner, when Kate grabbed the gun from his hand and pointed it at him. He held his hands up slightly in surrender. When she started to take the gun apart he was irritated, now he had no way to protect himkself. As she held the gun out to him, after handing the clip to Sayid, Sawyer grabbed her arm and pulled her close so that they were almost touching. "I know your type," he told her, very self-assuredly.

KATE
Kate was surprised when Sawyer grabbed her arm rather than the gun. She gave a half-hearted tug, thinking he'd only wanted to give her a little scare and that it'd be enough for him to let go, but he held fast. She glared up at him.
"I know your type"
"I'm not so sure," she said in a quiet, deadly voice. She was pissed off that he'd handle her that way and pissed off that she didn't see it coming.

KATE
She wanted to smack that smirk off her face, but settled for giving him the look of death. "No girl's exactly like me."
She wrenched her arm out of his grasp and quickly stepped around him, following the group as they continued on their way. As she walked, she took several deep breaths and let them out slowly, calming herself and her nerves.

SAWYER
He chuckled as Kate walked away in a huff and put the gun back underneath his shirt where it had been before he shot the bear. He then continued on his merry way with the rest of the group.

CHARLIE
Charlie looked in surprise to the Latino girl in their group, who suddenly appeared behind them and interupted their conversation with a long-winded speech, which ended with what sounded very much like a non-friendly warning towards them.
"What do you think her problem is?" he said quietly to Shannon, looking at Ana Lucia as she talked to Severin. "Perhaps she woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning?"
...Now I can add attacked by a rampaging polar bear to that list because this guy's singing voice," she pointed to Charlie, her temper flaring, "apparently pisses them off!"
Looks at ana lucia " your very rude" she snorts.
"Yeah, I'd say!" he added to Shannon's comment, catching up to Ana Lucia and stepping around in front of her to block her path. "What's your bloody problem? I'd thought that you'd be happy that the soddin' polar bear didn't eat you, or that Tex over there," he added, gesturing towards Sawyer, "... didn't bloody shoot you in the process! But no, you have to hate me because you don't like my singing voice, which I'd like to remind you by the way, I was using way before the bloody polar bear ever showed up in the first place! If you don't like my singing, at least have the guts to tell me to shut up, like Shannon did here! At least she was honest!" Charlie was all huffed out after making his own little speech, and looked angrily at Ana Lucia.
SAYID
Now having reached higher ground out of the shadow of the mountain and away from the trees where they had encountered the polar bear, Sayid took the transciever out of his backpack and started carefully unwrapping it from the blue cloth. Ignoring the argument that was starting up between Charlie and Ana Lucia, he turned the transciever on and started to test the signal, deciding the time had come.
The digital display on the transciever was blank for a moment. Then, suddenly, a small bar shot up, indicating he had reception. Sayid couldn't believe his eyes. It was a small bar, but it was there.
He stopped suddenly ahead of the group, and swivelled around to face them, but still looked down at the transciever digital display.
"Hey, we've got a bar!!!" he yelled to the others, cutting off the argument midway. He hopefully held the transciever to his ear and began transmitting a call for help. "Mayday, mayday!" he called into the mouth piece of the transciever, but had to take it away from his ear after a large crackle of feedback came through, loud enough for the entire group to hear.

KATE
At this point, Kate was getting sick and tired of all the bitching. She was nearing the point of just telling Shannon and Charlie to shut up and Ana Lucia to remove whatever got lodged up her ass during the crash. Thankfully, all the bickering stopped when Sayid announced that they had reception. She was surprised and filled with hope.
Kate squeezed past the other group members and stood next to Sayid, gazing down at the screen of the tranceiver. Sure enough, there was a bar, just as he'd described to her on the beach. She smiled as he tried to send out a distress call but when their answer was a loud crackling sound, she leaned away. "What is that?" she asked, giving a worried look to Sayid.

"Feedback." Sayid answered Kate, checking all the settings were correct on the transciever again. He knew the reason almost immediately why there was feedback, but he didn't know why. It didn't make any sense. He hesitated before he stated his theory, because the answer he would give would confuse everyone, even more than he already was. Why would there be feedback here? It was almost near impossible....

BEN
I smiled when I heard we had a signal, finally a little glimpse of hope.
"Feedback."
I shook my head in confusion, "Feedback from what?"

SAYID
"I don't know." Sayid answered Shannon and Ben. He flipped the transciever over to check it. "It's not broken." It was impossible it was getting feedback. But this had to be anything but bad. After a moment of acknowledging he had eliminated all other options, he announced his thoughts to the group.
"We can't transmit, because something else is already transmitting."
CHARLIE
Breaking away from the latino woman he had started an argument with, Charlie joined the huddle that had formed around Sayid and looked on with intrepid anticipation. His anger faded away for the moment, replaced by curiousity and hope. "Transmitting from where?" he asked Sayid, hoping he would know.
