BOONE
" lets go back now please"
There was no point in continuing the bickaring, "Hey its gunna be alright," he told her to try to comfort her, "We'll just take a rest for a minute, okay?"

KATE
Kate held up a hand, giving Shannon the 'gimme a minute' signal. Boone thankfully stepped in and started comforting her.
Kate could think of one person Sawyer may have gotten it from and she hoped she was wrong. She also hoped nobody posed the question of what kind of person would have a gun on a flight. She kept her eye on the gun and her ear on the conversations around her.

SAYID
Starting to grow even more suspicious, Sayid listened to Sawyer, his hunch starting to gain credability... if this man was telling the truth. Incredulously, he propositioned one of his own questions to Sawyer, wanting the man to elabortate more. "One of the bodies?"

SAWYER
"Yeah, one of the bodies," he retorted back at Sayid. "He was a U.S. Marshall; had a badge and everything. Took that too, thought it looked cool." Sawyer showed them the badge he'd had in his pocket, flipped it in the air and caught it again before putting it away.

SAYID
The look of confusion on Sayid's face dropped away, hardening into a dark expression. He had heard enough. There was only one way that this man knew where to look for a badge and a gun on a dead body, and why he had taken them. He spoke up suddenly, with an accusing tone. "I know who you are. You're the prisoner."

BEN
My head turned from person to person, man these guys were making it hard to catch up, and since I was so ignorant at the moment, there was no point in me opening my mouth.

"I know who you are. You're the prisoner."
Ana turned to Sayid quickly, mentally joining the dots as soon as he'd said it...
Yesterday, while Ana had been carting a bleeding southerner through the jungle, Sayid and Sawyer had started a fight on the beach. She'd caught the tail end of it and had heard something about handcuffs, but at the time, she'd not paid much attention. From all accounts, it had been Sawyer's mouth that actually started the fight, claiming that Sayid was a terrorist and that it was him who crashed the plane. An easy conclusion to jump to if you were narrowminded enough.
Sawyer had also mentioned that he'd seen Sayid with his hands folded under a blanket, presumably handcuffed. If that were the case, and he was indeed under guard, then how could he have caused the crash? If he truely was a fanatic who'd wanted to cause a disaster, why now would he be trying so hard to help get them rescued? In Ana-Lucia's mind, it didn't fit with him being a prisoner. Her instincts about Sayid told her he wasn't a threat.
It was nigh on impossible these days to get any kind of a weapon on board an aircraft unless you had Federal or FAA authorisation. Question was, if he was an Air Marshall, surely Gwen would have known who he was? All flight staff are breifed before take off if there is an AM on board, so they can alert him if there is any trouble during the flight. Almost everyone had gathered to listen to Sawyer's accusations yesterday, wouldn't she have mentioned the fact in order to break up the arguement?
Unless, of course, he was a Federal Marshall. And the only reason an FM had cause to carry a weapon on him during the flight, was if he was transporting a prisoner. Otherwise, it would have been stowed in the cargo hold for the duration.
Ana suddenly remembered Jack had said something to her yesterday, about the guy with the metal stuck in his ribs. Jack was under the impression he was a Marshall since he'd found a badge along side his body. At the time, she'd reasoned that the handcuffs had belonged to him too. She'd also asked Jack if he'd found a gun on him, but he'd said he hadn't. Now Ana knew why.
Sawyer's depravity apparently knew no bounds. Not only was he content to steal from the dead, he was also rifling the pockets of anyone not concious enough to object. She turned back to Sawyer with a look of disgust. If he wasn't still holding a gun, she'd have tackled him to the ground and pummeled his arrogant face into the dirt. As it was she just glared at him, weighing up her options. A guy like Sawyer couldn't be trusted to keep a loaded weapon. Although, given the gun in question was a sig 9 and he'd already fired nine shots on the bear, he only had one bullet left. One bullet, however, could still kill.
"I think you should give me the gun." She said firmly, holding her hand out to Sawyer. Not for a minute did she think he'd actually hand it over, but if he came close enough, she'd be able to disarm him herself.

KATE
She watched the scene and knew that Sawyer wouldn't just hand over the gun to anybody. Now that everyone was distracted, especially Sawyer, she decided to take the matter into her own hands. She came at him from the side, quickly swiping the gun away from him, then put distance between herself and everyone, keeping the gun trained on Sawyer.
"Does anybody know how to use a gun?" she asked in a way that made it appear as if she'd never held a real gun. Of course she did know how to use a gun, but the less people knew about her, the better.

SAYID
Watching as the others started staring down the Southener with him, clearly not trusting him with the gun, Sayid shared his thoughts about his accusation to Sawyer. "You found a gun on a U.S. Marshal? Yes, I believe you did. You knew who he was because you were the one he was bringing back to the States. Those handcuffs were on you. That's how you knew there was a gun. That's who you are you son-of-a-bitch. You are the prisoner."
Suddenly Kate grabbed the gun off Sawyer faster than either he or the Southener could comprehend, and looked astonished as Kate asked them how to use the gun, as she pointed it dangerously at Sawyer. As much as he didn't trust the man, the last thing that he wanted on this hike was bloodshed, and another body to carry back to the doctor. "Don't use the gun." Sayid reasoned to Kate raising his hands up openly in a 'calm-down' gesture. Things were getting out of hand quickly, and if something wasn't done, someone was going to get shot. As a solider, he was sure of it. But by the sound of Kate's voice, it sounded like she wanted to disarm the weapon and take away the ammo."Just take it apart. There's a button on the grip. Push that, it will eject the magazine. There's still a round in the chamber, hold the grip, pull the top part of the gun."
CHARLIE
Charlie looked on, watching the whole scene beside Shannon. When Kate asked how to use it, he was the first to answer. "I think you just pull the trigger." he said, in an obvious tone.

KATE
If Kate hadn't had her eyes occupied with watching Sawyer's every move and if the situation wasn't so serious, she'd have rolled her eyes at Charlie's response.
She slowly began to take the gun apart, following Sayid's directions with a concentration as if this was all new to her. She looked at the grip, 'searching' for the button and pressed it, letting the magazine fall to the ground instead of instinctively holding her other hand out to catch it. After retrieving the magazine, she aimed the gun again at Sawyer as she followed Sayid's instructions on removing the bullet from the chamber.
Kate had already made up her mind to divide the gun between the two warring members of the party. They all had enough to worry about, what with keeping an eye out for whatever lived in the jungle, polar bears, and who knows what else, that it was rediculous for them to also have to watch their back around the others in the hike party. They all needed to work together. If the gun was needed again, then the two would have no choice but to work together.
She stepped over to Sayid first, knowing that approaching Sawyer with all the pieces of the gun was just asking for trouble, and handed Sayid the clip. She then stepped over to Sawyer and held the gun out to him.

Ana was a surprised as everyone else when Kate made her move. For a second, she raised her hands in defence, expecting the gun to be pointed at her as well as everyone else, but instead, Kate kept it trained on Sawyer. She lowered her hands, watching the quiet woman carefully as she asked how to use the gun. Her fears that she actually would use it weren't easily dispelled either, given that Kate had apparently never held a gun before in her life. It would have been very easy, given her uneasiness with a weapon, for her finger to slip against the trigger and then someone might end up dead.
"Everyone just calm down here, alright." Ana said quickly, mostly to Kate. She was glad Sayid chipped in too, telling Kate not to use the gun, but she wasn't prepared for what he said next.
"Just take it apart. There's a button on the grip. Push that, it will eject the magazine. There's still a round in the chamber, hold the grip, pull the top part of the gun."
So...Sayid knew how to use a gun. Perhaps Sawyer's accusations were well founded after all. She shot a look at Sayid while Kate nervously stripped the gun down. She didn't know why the knowledge that an Iraqi could use a gun sounded so out of the ordinary. She'd seen it on the news often enough, shot's of men walking down the street in Baghdad carrying AK47's like it was state law. Hell, even the kids over there knew how to use guns.
Maybe what was now niggling her, was this new fact coupled together with his skill with electronics. Maybe his skills didn't end there, what if he was also educated in the art of bomb making? Perhaps it was too soon to dismiss the idea that Sayid could have been behind the crash after all. Of course, her gut instincts were still telling her he wasn't a threat. Whatever Ana was thinking, she kept it to herself for now. She'd need more evidence before making her mind up about Sayid. Right now, her focus was on the gun, Kate and Sawyer.
She turned her attention back to Kate as she handed out the parts of the gun. Seemingly she trusted Sayid enough to hand him the clip. Ana thought perhaps she was getting a little paranoid about her fellow survivors.

SAYID
Breathing out a sigh of relief, Sayid took the clip and the bullet that had been in the chamber from Kate, and acknowledged her choice gratefully with a slight nod of his head. He wasn't too keen on the idea of Sawyer having the gun, but at least now he would not be able to use it. But the fact he had the ammo now gave him an air of caution. He would have to watch his back now, in case the Southener came after him for it. He kept it in his hands, deciding to put it away at a later time when Sawyer or the others wouldn't notice.
With the tension of the situation now over, he passed by Kate and Sawyer, announcing to the group as he looked at the both of them without turning away. "We should keep moving."
CHARLIE
Charlie looked anxiously between everyone, feeling he could cut the tension in the air with a knife. He followed after Sayid and stayed with Shannon, looking back one last time at the polar bear before moving with the group.

BEN
I looked around at everyone, I was pretty much just a bystander. It felt kinda awkward, but I pretty much just watched. My heart raced when Kate grabbed the gun, it was so sudden, a part of me thought she was gunna pull the trigger.
"We should keep moving."
I pointed to Sayid, no one really took any notice, but my thoughts were all scrambled now, "Yes, lets do that," I said ecstatically, you could probably hear the fear in my voice. The group started to move, "Yeah let's..." I looked down at the polar bear, "Nobody wants to... really stick..." I was pretty much just saying random stuff as my mind processed things, it wasn't that I was slow, just inexperienced with this kind of stuff. I looked up to see most of the group a couple yards away from me, "Oh right," I said out loud, pretty much to myself. I followed the group threw the jungle.

He walked along, near the back of the group, he could hear Shannon's random, and uncalled for remarks, he just sighed, Charlie obviously didn't know what he was getting himself into.

CHARLIE
Looking up at Shannon, Charlie didn't think he could believe what he was hearing. They had just witnessed a bloody polar bear tearing after them through the jungle, a slick American shooting it down in cold blood, and a confrontation between the group members. And she was worried about herself? He considered she was just in shock from all the events that had just taken place.
"Don't worry, you're all right now." he reassured. "I'll look after yer. Just watch where you're treading from now on and take yer time, okay?"

As the others set off again, Ana finally got the chance to take a closer look at the bear that Sawyer had shot. She crouched down next to it's head, frowning as she stared at it. It was a polar bear. She was no expert on wildlife, but she was pretty sure they only lived places where land was mostly ice, not jungle. So how the hell did it end up here, wherever they were?
With a small branch, she poked open it's bloody mouth to look at the huge teeth inside. Huge teeth that still had the remains of something's flesh stuck between them. Ana grimaced as the stench of it's dead breath wafted out to her nostrils. She let go of the stick and stood up, heading off to catch up with the rest of the group. Whatever she or anyone else thought of Sawyer, she had to admit he'd probably just saved their lives. Of course, she wouldn't admit it to him...

He watched silently, taking the whole situation in. He got slightly worried as Ana seemed to be about to confront Sawyer, but then, everyone was confronting the redneck. He remained silent, simply watching these people and their reactions. At any moment, he was ready to step in.
And then there was the polar bear. An odd occurance, to say the least.
