Vivian
Vivian Snapped out of it just in time to see a women give her a small smile, she smiled back and continued on her way. She just couldn’t believe that this was happening, trapped on an island with people she didn’t know. Well the good thing was she survived the crash, she wasn’t sure how. All those poor people…
But Vivian had to think about staying alive and well on the island, making sure she got home to her family. Vivian Waters would get home if it was the last thing she did.

"Now, how do we get started?"
Gwen placed her hands on her hips while she stood at the edge of the luggage pile. "Ah, well, there's not much to it," she replied. "All these bags were unclaimed...as far as we know." With the exception of Beau, whose abrupt and belligerent appearance still annoyed her. She wondered if he had managed to weasel into his way into Jasmine's tent, since she hadn't seen either of them yet.
"Just look around, see if you find anything similar to these," she continued, showing her the bag full of electronics that they'd already gathered. "We'll go 'round the camp later, see if anyone else is willing to give up their gadgets," she added, tapping the batteries that Sayid had given her together lightly like metallic castanets. "And also, if you find any clothing in your size, or anything else that might be of use, you'd do well to claim it now." Four days without rescue, and now the news of no signal from the transceiver. Despite Jake's optimism and Sayid's resolve, Gwen had an uneasy feeling they would be here for a while. And they would need to learn more about their friend or friends in the jungle.
She laid the batteries down in the sand. "I'll be right back, Tusti. I just need to...check on someone," she said, and began walking up the beach towards the shelters.

I just need to...check on someone," she said, and began walking up the beach towards the shelters."Oh, all right," Tusti said as Gwen walked up the beach. Tusti walked down to the unclaimed baggage and sighed as she opened up the first one. She didn't feel that it was her right to rummage through anyone's belongings, alive or dead. She looked for any electronics first, but to no avail. She saw something metal though and found a pocket knife. Guess I should take it just in case. There was nothing more of interest for her, so she searched the next bag. She found a cell phone which she pocketed, but found something that tug at her heartstrings; a locket. She opened it and gasped. The locket she found had a picture in it; her's. Flashback

***Gwen enters from Jinx's Shelter***
"Well, that's one more contribution," Gwen said, adding Jasmine's CD player to the collection. "Let's just hope everyone else is in the giving spirit..."
She glanced over at Tusti to see her tightly clasping a necklace and looking distraught. "Tusti? Are you alright?" she asked, kneeling beside her.

JINX
*Enters from jinx’s shelter*
With a smile, she made her way through. Jinx thought about the rain water but changed her mind, the rain water wasn’t going to be cool on her skin. She wanted something to cool herself down, something that would feel nice. So passing Gwen she smiled and gave her wink before she continued on to the beach…

"Tusti? Are you alright?" she asked, kneeling beside her.
"What?" Tusti reacted, glancing above her to see Gwen looking at her with a look of concern. "Oh, it's nothing."
Tusti pocketed the locket and turned back to the cell phone she found. "I found this," Tusti handed the cell phone to Gwen. "I'd order us a pizza, but I don't know the number."

Gwen laughed as she took the cell phone. A margherita pizza did sound really tempting at the moment. "Well, Domino's delivers everywhere, don't they? Although good luck getting this lot to agree on the toppings," she remarked, finding another bag to sort through.
"So you were en route to your big break in LA, right?" she asked. "Acting, writing...?"

"So you were en route to your big break in LA, right?" she asked. "Acting, writing...?"
"Mostly writing," Tusti told Gwen, searching in another bag. "But I was going to Los Angeles for a role in a movie. Guess my role in that movie's over, right?" she kidded.
Tusti found an electronic watch in the bag, but it did not work, so she took out the batteries. "I was also gonna try to pitch a television program, but I doubt they'd greenlight it," Tusti confessed to Gwen as she put the batteries in with the other electric stuffs.

Gwen smiled sympathetically. "Oh, don't give up yet; Cameron Diaz and Halle Berry can't take all the movie roles while you're here," she consoled. "And really, have you seen what's on American television lately? I think they'd welcome any unique, well-written programs. And actually, there's another passenger you might enjoy meeting."

Tusti smiled as Gwen said those kind words of encouragement. "Well who would I enjoy meeting?" Tusti asked Gwen about the other passenger.

For a moment, Gwen reconsidered the thought of foisting Mr. Industry on this poor innocent girl. But if she did want to make it in Hollywood, it helped to know the people in power. Even if they did have a propensity for firing prop guns.
"His name's Erik Mason," she replied. "Apparently, he's a producer of some note. Works in television and film. And spent some time in India working on some project or other. I'm sure he'd love to meet you. Just...take everything he says with a grain of salt. Producers are very good at telling you what you want to hear, whether it's the truth or not."

Tusti listened intently at what Gwen was telling her, taking notes in her head on this Erik Mason. "I'll meet him later," Tusti told her, reaching for another bag. "We've still got work to do."

"Indeed," Gwen said, admiring Tusti's dedication to the job at hand. Hadn't Gwen been the same way only a few days earlier? Work, work, work. Don't stand still, just keep moving. But something was chipping away at her commitment. The horrors they'd witnessed at the cockpit, the unknown dangers of the jungle, the failure of the transceiver signal, the emotional burden of showing everyone a cheerful smile and sustaining their hope that rescue was near. Having to lie to everyone, even the people that she had begun to trust. Not that she could do anything to change that.
She sighed and pulled her hair back into a loose bun. Maybe she was just exhausted, as she'd told Jasmine. "Although there's not much left here to go through," she observed. "I think there's still some luggage near the fuselage. And perhaps you should go 'round and ask people for contributions. You're younger and prettier; they're less likely to say no to you," she suggested. "Plus, some of them might still be harboring resentment for something I did to them on the plane..."

Althoguh Tusti smiled at Gwen's compliment about her appearance, she wasn't smiling at what Gwen said about the resentment of some of the Castaways. She didn't want to pressure her or poke into any business she wasn't supposed to be involved in, but she wanted to know why.
"Why would someone have resentment towards you?" Tusti asked, tilting her head in confusion. "What happened on the plane?" Tusti kicked herself and stood up on her feet. "I mean, I don't mean to pry or anything..."

"Oh, just...usual stuff," Gwen replied, waving her hand dismissively. "I didn't give them an extra pillow, I wasn't quick enough with their drink, the vegetarian meals were all out, they hated the in-flight movie, yada yada yada."
She tossed another phone onto the pile. "I'm a glorified waitress in the sky, and I'm the official face of Oceanic Airlines. The only face around, actually," she added sadly. "So concerns, questions, comments, snide remarks...I get to deal with all of them."
She smiled, hoping to alleviate Tusti's concern. "Don't worry, I can handle it," she claimed. "And most people around here have been very agreeable."

Tusti suspected there was more to Gwen's story, but dismissed her suspicions as just melodramatic. She felt a little awkward that she suspected something more than what Gwen had meant.
"Well, then I guess I should go out and meet everyone. See you later, Miss Gwen," Tusti saluted, walking towards the fuselage.

"Good luck" she called after Tusti as she departed, looking back toward the fuselage to see Ethan working with Sayid. Poor overworked Ethan, who'd been her self-appointed guardian angel from day one. He'd done so much for her, been there in every time of need. It was obvious that he cared about her and wanted to ensure her welfare. But was it more than that?
She was horrible at reading people, and Willo and Jasmine's speculation, plus the fact that Ethan had referred to her as beautiful, only served to confuse her more. She would be grateful, appreciative, but distant. Out of sight, out of mind. At least that way, she wouldn't have to worry about taking advantage of his kindness any further.
And Sayid...besides her earlier girlish giggling with Jasmine, she knew her feelings for him would come to nothing. He had spoken to her as just another soldier in the newly-formed volunteer army. And that was as it should be.
He was dedicated, professional, detached. He had placed himself in charge of providing for them and protecting them. In order to do that, Gwen felt he needed to know the truth of what was in that jungle lying in wait for them--the monster, the traps, all of it. But she'd sworn to keep the secret along with everyone else, because that was the right thing to do. Secrets and lies. The perfect foundation for a healthy relationship, if her parents were any indication.
Still, Eric's memory tugged at her. All the if's, and's and maybe's. Moving on to someone else felt like a betrayal, which she wouldn't do. Even with Jasmine's enthusiastic encouragement. Letting things go...it was so easy to tell Jack to do so. It was much more difficult to do that herself. She pushed yet another bag aside and rested her elbows on her knees, her head falling forward in resignation.

Oh, stop sulking and get back to work, she told herself. She raised her head again and inhaled deeply in a vague attempt at meditation. Even after four days, the salty air still seemed exotic and refreshing somehow. Since Tusti had headed toward the fuselage, she'd start at the other end of the camp and work her way back. She got to her feet and slung one of the empty backpacks over her shoulder, deciding to get the most unpleasant visit out of the way first...

HEIDI
***Heidi enters from G4 - Beach and Shore - Day 4***
I continued to sip from the water bottle as I thought of what to do to occupy my time while taking a break in the shade. Oh yah, I thought. I still have Willo's newspaper. I should read that article and get it back to him. My mind made up, I headed toward my shelter and paused as I passed an empty airplane seat. I looked around. Nobody seemed to have claimed it, so I would. I dropped the water bottle onto the cushion and started dragging the seat over to my shelter. Still in pretty good shape, I thought as I looked down at it. Even though it had been sitting out, exposed to the rain during the first couple of days, it seemed perfectly dry now, thanks to that harsh sun that was draining me of energy.
I took a break from dragging and stood up, stretching my muscles and pushing my hair back behind my shoulders and out of my face. Just a little ways more, I thought as I looked at the distance left to my shelter.

HEIDI
I was settled comfortably in my new seat right outside my tent, water bottled tucked on the seat next to me, finishing up the last paragraph of the Cat Stevens article Willo had told me about. "Huh," I said to myself after reading the last paragraph. Geez, stupid airport security is preoccupying themselves with someone because of a book he wrote? No wonder we have a problem.
I turned back to the front of the paper, looking again at the missing square of the front section. I wonder what article was here? Why'd he want to keep it? Something that interested him? If the article had still been there, I figured I wouldn't have thought anything of it; possibly not have even read it, but the fact that it was missing really took my attention. I gave a slight shrug. I would sometimes keep articles for a bit; usually articles on movies. Maybe he does the same thing. I started to flip through and look for other articles that interested me. Might as well check it out from cover to cover before returning it.
