"Uh, no, I don't think curse words from short-lived sci-fi series are considered legal in the realm of Scrabble," she countered, trying to retrace the path back through the trees. "But then again, who's willing to say Joss Whedon is wrong?"
"Well, Shakespeare invented well over 200 of the words used today. No point in dismissing a modern Shakespeare." he smiled.

"Exactly," she agreed. "I happen to think Buffy the Vampire Slayer has all the emotional resonance and artistic validity of Macbeth or Hamlet. If only Shakespeare had added some chaos demons to A Midsummer Night's Dream..."
She noticed that the jungle was peacful and tranquil at the moment. Deceptively so. "Speaking of unknown dangers, what do you think it is? That thing in the jungle?" she asked him.

"Speaking of unknown dangers, what do you think it is? That thing in the jungle?"
He gave a slight shrug. "I'd be lying if I said I wasn't curious. Just not curious to find out first hand. Could be a big bear, a new species...maybe even a dinosaur. Anything."

"True," she said softly. "New species get discovered everyday, it seems. And if a plesiosaur could be swimming in a lake in Scotland, I guess it's possible that a T-Rex could be roaming this island." The scene this morning had certainly felt like something out of Jurassic Park. That was the only way to describe it. Not that she could describe it to anyone; she didn't want or need to add to their fears.
"Anyway, that's the least of our worries. If we're going to be here for a while," she offered, changing the subject, "we'll need a plan. For water, food, shelter. Probably in that order. Any ideas?"

"True, the trees around here will be picked dry in no time. And those rain-catchers...we can't sit around waiting for it to rain all the time. Shelter is easy enough to make, but we're not familar with the weather conditions, this could just be a good day." he replied, thinking about places he knew where water and food were plentiful. "Within the week, it might be a good idea for me to take one or two volunteers, scout more of the island for water and food sources."

A good day? She wouldn't consider this a good day. Maybe in the meteorological sense, but...
"You're already thinking in the long term," she observed. "We could still be rescued, but then again we might not. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to be pro-active. I haven't met many of the passengers, but I'm sure there'll be plenty of people willing to help with scouting missions or whatever. Beats sitting on the beach just waiting."

"True." he said, splitting the mango slightly, lifting up a crude slice. He handed it over to her. "As for thinking in the long term...I guess I just like to be prepared."

"Ah, spoken like a true teacher. Cheers," she grinned gratefully, taking the offered mango slice. She bit into the yellow-orange fruit slowly, unintentionally closing her eyes to better savor its sweet smell and the sugary taste that filled her mouth. She sheepishly wiped at her chin as juice dripped down it. "Mmm...quite possibly the best mango I've ever had," she proclaimed.

"Mmm...quite possibly the best mango I've ever had,"
The way she'd eaten the mango made him look away slightly, blushing slightly, feeling a little guilty that it was one of the sexiest things he'd ever seen. She was beautiful.
"Yeah, yeah, well....everything tastes better when you're on an island, I guess." he said with a smile. "By the way, do you have a shelter yet, it's just...some people have built shelters and stuff...."

"Really?" she asked, swallowing another mouthful of mango. 'Does that mean I get prettier and smarter? Maybe I could get used to living here."
"By the way, do you have a shelter yet, it's just...some people have built shelters and stuff...."
"Uh, no," she realized. "We went on that hike to the cockpit this morning, and things have been rather rushed since then. I haven't had a chance to give it any thought."

He thought it over briefly. Well, hell, he wanted to do it. "Well, you know...I can build you one, it'd be easy enough, and you have way too much on your mind anyway."

"Are you sure? I feel like I've intruded on your kindness enough already," she said. "I mean, I'd do it but I haven't the first idea how to build something like that. I'd really appreciate the help."
She sighed and rubbed the bridge of her nose. "I swear, I'm not normally this much of a damsel in distress. It's just...circumstances."

"You went into the jungle, when very few would. You've been helping people since the first hour here. You're not some damsel in distress, if you were...." he chuckled slightly. "I probably wouldn't have offered."
He then shook his head. "And it's not intruding at all, I'd be more than happy to. I'll get started right now, as a matter of fact. Not like my schedule is overly packed. Ready to head back to the beach, so I can see what I can do about renting you out an island hotel room?"

She nodded, starting to follow him back toward the beach. "Now I have your assurance that this room will have an ocean view, right?" she joked. "Cable TV, down comforter, jacuzzi tub, free continental breakfast. Oh, and those little chocolates on the pillow."

From out of the woods Walter emerged, still carrying a variety of objects and several bags draped around his sholders. With a grunt the old man nodded to the two picking fruit, and continued on his way down to the camp.

"Of course, all of that." he said, laughing. "You can relax watching Gilmore Girls on sky while in your jacuzzi, eating a continental breakfast. I'll get the menu put together."

"Hey, whoever said I watched Gilmore Girls? I've never heard such slander," she said. She attempted to smile at the elderly man who passed by them, laden with bags and suitcases, but he gave them little more consideration than a nod.
"Looks like someone found more than mangos out here," she remarked, as he passed out of sight.

"People'll be picking these trees bare in no time. C'mon, let's get back."

*Jake arrives from F3 - Survivor's Camp*
Jake came tearing into the jungle from the beach, hobbling in his stride a little, and as soon as he had gone into the undergrowth where he was sure no-one would ever walk off the beaten track, the sound of a zipper opening came and he let loose. "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww...." he sighed in relief, and a few birds in the trees flew off from how loud his voice was. He came out moments later once his zipper was back up, wishing there was some kind of water source besides the beach he could wash his hands in. He decided to go back to the beach to wash up, wondering what the fire was all about.
