ISLAND ANIMALS
The largest boar raised it's hideous, furry head, clumps of skin and flesh hanging from the gleaming red tusks. A moment later, the second boar lifted it's head, grunting greedily.
The larger boar lowered it's head slightly, clearly distressed by this intruder. The second, smaller boar seemed less eager to fight, and it took a few steps backwards. Fight or flight.
The larger decided on fight, and charged.

Ana-Lucia hadn't expected either of them to attack her, and the fact it was only the larger of the two that was doing so, was of no comfort. They were quicker than she thought too, giving her no time to think where to run. The only thing she had time to do, was swear.
"Mierda (shit)." She said flatly.

He leapt. He was quick. His legs, they were fresh and new, they had only recently come back to him, but now he was springing about like a young roebuck. Incredible.
But he couldn't focus on that now. He had to focus on her.
He swept her out of the path of the charging boar, as the massive blur of movement ripped through the grass past them. He now had her pinned against a tree, and he quickly glanced to where the boar was.
BOAR
Grunting and snarling, it twisted around, considering another charge.

The next thing she knew, she was flattened against a tree, the impact jarring her bones a little and knocking the stick from her hand, but at least it was better than getting impaled on boar tusks. She gave the bald man an appreciative look, before turning to see whether the boar was going to attack again.

JAKE (BIG BOAR) AND MARTY (SMALL BOAR)
Jake considered for a moment, but then started to slowly pace back towards the bodies, to resume it's meal.
LOCKE
Breathing heavily, his sharp eyes followed the boar back to the bodies. It seemed awful, but these boars had no idea they were disrespecting or angering anyone. They were just animals. "We'll have to come back later."

((LOL Jake and Marty!")) As much as she hated to leave them to their meal, he was probably right. They weren't a match for rampaging boar without better weapons. It wasn't worth getting hurt over. Those people were dead already. "Fine." She said, begrudgingly, peeling herself from the tree trunk. She rubbed her shoulders a little to ease the dull pain from the impact, before following the bald guy in the other direction from the bodies.

Once they got far enough, he raised his voice beyond a whisper. "We'll come back later. They could be good food."

Ana screwed her face up, hoping he meant the boar, not the bodies.
"You're not serious?" It took her a second to realise he was. "You're gonna eat the boar?"

"Well, yes. The food from the plane will only last for so long, and boar is actually considered a delicacy in many countries."

She stopped mid stride, surprised by the calm efficiency the guy was exuding.
"It's been, what, a day? And you're going native already? I don't think things are that desperate yet. Rescue's on it's way..." She said, not really believing herself.

He paused, carefully judging the tone of her voice. She was lying to herself. Perfectly normal and perfectly healthy. He'd be worried if she sincerely believed in rescue. "Is it?"

Ana frowned, caught off guard by his reaction.
"How is it you know so much about boar?" She answered, ignoring his question.

He allowed a small smile on his face that didn't reach his eyes. "My Dad used to take me hunting. I kept it up. Actually, the reason I was going to Sydney was...." the smile grew wider. "I was going on a 'walkabout' a nature trail. Rafting, hiking, hunting, that sort of thing. I guess....I'm kind of an expert. Not to toot my own horn or anything."

She started walking again, closely behind the bald guy. "What happened? You said you were going on a walkabout."

He paused for a moment. People didn't like miracles, so why should he tell her?
Miracles were 'freakish'. They didn't make sense, and of course people would instantly think of them as hoaxes, or freak mistakes of nature. They didn't go to a faith healer to be healed. They went to a faith healer for absolute confirmation that they were doomed.
"I got in a little too late. There was a mistake with the bookings, I couldn't go in the end. They gave me a refund."

"Well, now you get to do it for free." She half smiled, feeling a little foolish for saying it. Crashing here was probably the worst thing to happen to him.
"Thanks, by the way. For pushing me outta the way."

"Well, now you get to do it for free."
He couldn't help but laugh, and smiled at her. "You're right, I do! Bright side."
Bright side. There was no dark side to begin with. He could see it all now, as if a perfect puzzle had been placed. He could see everything that happened, every little piece fitting together to form a road. A path.
And that path led to this...this incredible place. This beautiful place that showed him the truth of everything he'd gone through. What were the chances that he'd end up somewhere where the most highly valued skill of all, is that of hunting? Of gathering food? Of surviving in the wild? A subject he was an expert on.
Not to mention his legs. He'd recovered. He couldn't explain the details (yet) but where the details important? Fate had carved out a place for him here. He was placed here for something important.
"Thanks, by the way. For pushing me outta the way."
He was a little surprised when she thanked him. He hadn't given half a thought to saving her, it was just the human thing to do. It hadn't entered his mind to not save her.
"Oh, don't, it's no problem at all. I'm John Locke."

"Ana-Lucia" She replied with a warm smile.
"You got any family here?" She asked, trying to put it as tactfully as she could, in case he did but they hadn't survived the crash.

"Oh, no, no. Traveling alone." he replied, keeping his smile. "Life-long bachelor, I got some folks at home."
Folks at home. The girl at the video store who traded jokes about Joss Whedon shows with him. His RISK friend at work, Warren-
Randy. Oh, that bastard. He would have so loved to have seen the look on Randy's face as he walked right into the office, with a big grin.
But no, his place was here now.

Ana's wet hair was sticking to her face in long strands, and she idly wiped it from her eyes as they walked.
"Y'know, you seem very calm considering what's happened."
