"On the warpath...is that why she attacked your friend?"
She shook her head. "I don't know, that's a question for Ana. From what I can gather, she was simply breaking up the fight between Ethan and Sawyer. Following her cop instinct and training. I don't think there was any ulterior motive to her actions.
"The only person on this island that she seems to have a problem with is me, and I wasn't even there until after the fact."

"Well, we....may be on this island for some time. It might be good for you two to try and talk some time, to try and get along better." he suggested. "Of course, I might be asking you to do one of those things that are a lot more impossible then they sound..."

"Well, if you insist on being so pragmatic and sensible..." she sighed in mock frustration. "I know, I know. Ana and I are both reasonable adults; we should be able to come to some sort of understanding. But I'm not making any promises."
She lightly crossed her arms. "As the only remaining member of the flight crew, I suppose I have to be willing to take the blame for what's happened. Whether I feel it's warranted or not. Could you just assure Ana that everything I've done has been in order to protect these people? Until we're back on the tarmac at LAX, they're still my responsibility," she stated.

"I'll do my best, Gwen." he assured her. "And...you really shouldn't feel it's your responsibility to do anything more than the rest of these people...but if you can't help it, then, well..." He shrugged lightly, but gave an encouraging smile. "I'll...tie Ana down if I have to, she won't attack you or hurt your friend again."

She tilted her head in curiosity at him. "Sorry, did you neglect to mention that you're a blackbelt in some form of martial art? Because that...I would like to see," she grinned, his supportive words and softspoken manner making her feel at ease.
"Look, I'm not in charge here, Severin, nor do I wish to be. Ana can do and think whatever she likes. I know that, in her own way, she's also trying to protect everyone. We just have...slightly different styles. But I won't go looking for trouble; I've learned my lesson," she promised.

He'd had preffered if they could've talked and put their differences aside, but...miracles didn't happen. "All right then, I understand." He said sympathetically. "Maybe things will get better."

"Can't get any worse, can they?" she shrugged. "Sorry, I'm running rather low on optimism at the moment. But I know there are many people doing their best to keep things running smoothly. And I appreciate your concern."

"It's nothing, I just noticed the fight, and...out of the four of you, you seemed the least likely to bite my head off." he explained. "Although appearances can be decieving, I suppose. Perhaps Sawyer is the sensitive one...."

"Oh, yes, Sawyer's absolutely filled to the brim with the milk of human kindness," she remarked, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "That, or Tennessee Whiskey. I'm not quite sure."
She smiled up at him. "No worries, Severin; I'm a kitten. And a declawed one at that. I'm just sorry that you're stuck here playing peacemaker when you could be selling that spoon collection on eBay or something."

He laughed. "Good point. He probably won't be going on charity walks anytime soon."

His face changed to an expression of confusion. "What's an ebay?"

She looked at him with wide eyes. "Well, it's sort of this website where people go to sell really strange things. Like a potato chip that looks like the Virgin Mary or something," she attempted to explain. "Like an online Portobello Road. I mean, those spoons might not be worth much to you, but to a bored housewife in Duluth, they could be worth hundreds. Maybe even thousands."

He raised his eyebrows. "I...really don't understand computers, but....thousands? For some old spoons?" He gave a short laugh, as if the thought was ridiculous. "Right, well...I'll keep that in mind for when we get rescued."

"Oh, you'd be surprised what some people will spend ungodly amounts of money on. And yeah, another item for the 'to-do' list when we get rescued," she added, a bit sadly.
"Um, anyway, I should probably be getting back to work. We'll need to gather more wood for the signal fires before the sun goes down," she said, shifting back into professional mode. "I could use some help, unless you're intent on continuing your investigation into today's incident..."

"Let me check my schedule...4: 00, lie on a beach and wait for rescue...and apart from that, I'm free." he replied with a warm smile. "Not a problem. Let's go."

"Well, just remember you volunteered," she said, "and you were in no way coerced, in case someone asks."

"Well, this is it. Home sweet home, for the time being," she said, standing aside to let him in. "Comfy pillow, economy-class blanket, quality reading material," she explained, holding up a Hello! magazine.
"I would say don't go through my things, but I know that would be useless, so...please just put everything back where you found it," she requested. "Make yourself comfortable. I'll try to round up some food and water for you."

"Comfy pillow, economy-class blanket, quality reading material," He smiled when she held up Hello and shook his head at her attempt to be air hostess on the ground. "I would say don't go through my things, but I know that would be useless, so...please just put everything back where you found it," she requested. "Make yourself comfortable. I'll try to round up some food and water for you."
“Gwen sit down for a little bit, I’m fine for a few minutes. Come talk to me you look like you haven’t stopped since we landed.” Ray smiled and sat down patting the blanket next to him. “you know how I know? I know because you have that worry look, now sit down and talk with me for a little bit. There are plenty people would there to make signal fires.”

She pointed a finger at him. "If you say anything about needing botox injections for my 'worry look,' I am going to hit you," she warned, relenting and taking a seat. At least she finally had someone who understood the pressures and the protocols of their job. But he did need to rest, so she would only stay for a few minutes.
"And no, I haven't really stopped since we got here because, as you said, there are plenty of people out there that need to be taken care of," she remarked. "We retrieved the transceiver from the cockpit but it doesn't seem to be working. One of the passengers is trying to repair it, and we're organizing efforts to collect water, deal with food rationing, construct some makeshift shelters until rescue arrives," she explained, knowing full well that probably wasn't the sort of information he wanted about their current situation.

"So were looking for the long Haul huh?" Ray sighed and placed a hand on Gwen's shoulder, "I hate to ask, but anyone else from the crew make it?" Ray really didn't want to ask, he knew it was highly unlikely that anyone of them made it out. she was surprised that Gwen and himself had made it. There were so many people and so little hope, moral would drop down soon.
"I know the whole everything about the safety, but we'll need our sanity. I guess i will be getting my workin' clothes on and joining you in the stress parade." he smiled and took her in for a hug, "I thought i was the only one left." he wouldn't cry that prove himself less manly than he wanted to be. so he held back and just pushed the joy forward.

"So were looking for the long Haul huh?...I hate to ask, but anyone else from the crew make it?"
She shook her head sadly. "Not that I've seen," she answered. "And you and I both know rescue should have been a matter of hours, not days. But Sayid's hopeful he can get the transceiver signal working again."
"I know the whole everything about the safety, but we'll need our sanity. I guess i will be getting my workin' clothes on and joining you in the stress parade." he smiled and took her in for a hug, "I thought i was the only one left."
"And I'm very glad to know I'm not alone here," she agreed, returning his hug. "Don't worry, as soon as you're ready for it, you'll be put to work," she smiled.
"Fortunately, most people have been ready and willing to help. We've got a doctor, several military people, and people who are far more outdoorsy than me. I mean, obviously I couldn't have built this thing myself," she said, glancing around her shelter.
