KATE
Her glance from the corpse to Jack, her forehead etched with confusion at his off topic question. "Yeah."

JACK
"Yeah."
"Where'd that come from?"

KATE
Good point, she thought. Jack may have a lot of answers, but she reminded herself that he'd only been here as long as everyone else and there's only so much you can learn from a corpse. "Any idea how long they've been here?"

JACK
"Long," Jack replied quickly, barely giving Kate a chance to finish her sentence. "It takes 40 or 50 years for clothing to degrade like this." Jack continued to examine the bodies closely. As he tried to feel the texture of the decaying clothing he felt something, hard and jagged. He reached into what was left of a pocket and removed a small pouch. He opened it up and took a peek.

KATE
Hearing that these bodies had been there for 40 or 50 years really gave her a start. That did not bode well for them. She noticed that something had gotten Jack's attention. "What is it?" she asked, trying to peer around him.

JACK
He dumped the contents of the bag into his hand and showed Kate. It was two stones that were both rather smooth and clean. Jack gently ran his thumb over them. There was something off putting about the stones, one was white and the other was black. He looked up at Kate as he felt the confusion between the two of them.

KATE
Kate also stared down at the smooth black and white stones. They were beautiful and flawless as if someone had formed them to be exactly alike. What did it mean? What were they for? So lost in her curiousity about these two people dead for so long and these strange stones that she forgot about the bees and the other people in their party.

Locke carefully descended back into the caves, glancing around for signs of Jack or Kate. "Hello? Anybody there?" he called as he moved into their line of view. Upon seeing them, he nodded, asking, "Everyone all right?"

JACK
"Everyone all right?"
Jack looked too Kate now remembering about everyone else that was on the trek. "A few stings aside," Jack replied stepping down to eye level with Locke. Jack was deep in thought trying to figure out what he should do with the bodies, whether or not he should say anything.

CHARLIE
After being stung by what seemed like every buzzing resident in the broken beehive, Charlie followed Locke back into the cave. Every inch of his skin feeling like it was on fire. Spying Kate and Jack standing around casually, he remarked bitterly, "You two run away fantastically. Glad my diversion spared you."
Noticing a discarded piece of clothing on the ground, he picked it up as he walked over to them. "I was only stung several hundred times," he grumbled, pointing at the red welps that now dotted his skin. "Oh, and, uh...someone left this." He held it out to Kate, trying not to take too much notice that she was standing there in her bra.

KATE
She felt embarrassed as she finally remembered that she had tossed her shirt aside and now stood in a cave with three men, half dressed. "It was, um, it was full of bees." Stating the obvious made her feel a bit more like an idiot as she took the shirt from him.

CHARLIE
"I'd have thought C's, actually," he quipped. Quickly muttering a "Sorry" when she gave him a scornful look. Then he looked past her and Jack to see something that resembled a skeleton. "Bloody hell. These are the people who were here before us," he guessed.

Locke raised his eyebrows, and looked from Charlie to Jack. "What are you talking about?" he asked, walking further into the cave. Then he saw them, and stopped in his tracks. Bodies, two of them. Decayed, rotten, still.

JACK
"I'd have thought C's, actually,"
Jack let out a short and quiet chuckle. It seemed the most unexpected phrases were the most humorous.
"What are you talking about?"
Jack had a look of disappointment on his, disappointed that he couldn't think of something to do about the body situation before Charlie said something.

KATE
Kate just glared at Charlie after his remark. He was not helping to lessen the awkwardness. His quick 'sorry' and the topic change put an end to the situation and Kate donned her shirt as she moved toward the others to listen to look at and discuss their newest find.

((OOC: How many other peeps are in the cave with us? I've completely forgotten...))
CHARLIE
"What are you talking about?"
"Oh, uh, just, you know..." he stammered, forgetting in the moment that the French woman's transmission they'd picked up wasn't common knowledge among the survivors. He glanced over at the others who were still busying themselves with filling water bottles. "There -- there could have been people here before us, right?" he said, trying to make it sound more like a question.

"Clearly," shrugged Locke, moving in for a closer inspection. He looked at Jack. "But, who were these men?"

"But, who were these men?"
"Actually one of them's female," Jack pointed out still wishing Charlie hadn't said anything.

Locke gazed over the bodies slowly and thoughtfully, looking back at Jack. "Our very own Adam and Eve," he noted.

JACK
He jumped down from the elevated platfrom from where the bodies laid. He walked back towards the spring and grabbed a couple bottles of water and tossed them into his backpack.
