CHARLIE
He left them to their water bottle filling duties and walked to a spot of higher ground just around the corner from the cave's entrance. Things were definitely looking up; Claire would have all the water she needed, and hopefully no more fainting spells. But even the relief didn't quiet the ever-present need for a fix.
He walked behind a tree, keeping an eye out to see that no one followed him. He dug into his pocket to retrieve the small plastic bag of heroin. So focused on it that he didn't hear the sound of buzzing around him.

Locke's suspicion was too great. "Be back in a sec." he grunted to Jack, and then silently followed.
All of Charlie's mannerisms instantly made sense as soon as he dug into his pocket instead of unzipping. Locke's suspicions were confirmed, and he felt a pang of pity for Charlie. Then came the buzzing sound, and Locke's eyes drifted to the source. A bee hive on the ground, with Charlie standing right on it. "Don't move." he spoke softly, trying not to surprise him.

CHARLIE
Bugger. Startled by a voice behind him, he fumbled to close the bag up again and stuff it back in his pocket. "Look, I was just gonna take--" he began his excuse.

Locke cut him off. "Do not move." he insisted strongly, keeping still.

JACK
He slipped out of the caves with Kate to see what Locke and Charlie were doing out side the caves. "What's going on?" Jack asked trying to keep up with the situation.

"He's standing on a bee-hive." said Locke quietly, shushing Jack.

CHARLIE
"Beehive?" he repeated in disbelief. He looked down and sure enough saw a multitude of bees beneath his feet. "What's a beehive doing there? Beehives are supposed to be in trees," he protested.

JACK
He turned to Locke, ignoring Charlie's statement as it would be no help to them to consider it. "What now?" Jack asked well aware of their current dilemma.

"If he moves, he'll split the hive." explained Locke, not taking his eyes off Charlie and the hive.

CHARLIE
Splitting the hive? That sounded like a very bad thing. And the hive's residents already seemed rather irritated with him. "I don't like bees, okay?" he sputtered, as he felt them crawling in his hair and on his face. "I have an irrational fear of bees. I think I'm allergic to bees."

MASON
Mason was a curious person and, as such, had made his way to follow the group outside the cave. He peered his head over and looked down at Charlie's feet. Mason had worked with bees on a couple movies and they were always very careful around them. Oddly, Mason had, throughout his life, never been stung by a bee. He had never really been stung by anything. What started as just dumb luck had become an ego thing here. But this was certainly not the place where he would be useful. He did, however, want to get in good with Locke and Jack, who seemed to be the two people that this island looked up to.
"Sup?" he said, peeking his head over Kate before moving to his own area.

"Please be quiet." he stressed to Charlie, and then whispered to Jack and Kate, "We need to get something to seal the hive."

KATE
What exactly did he mean by 'seal'? She decided to clarify and briefly took her eyes away from the hive to look at John. "To cover it up?" she asked in a quiet tone.

JACK
Jack ran into the caves and tried to find the best thing available to cover up the beehive. He quickly grabbed an empty suitcase. Perhaps it was not the best thing available, but Jack didn't exactly have a whole lot of time. He hurried back out of the caves hoping that Charlie hadn't alright split the beehive. "How's this?" he asked Locke holding up the suitcase.

KATE
She was right on Jack's heels as they ran to the caves. He was quicker at getting a hold of a suitcase and so Kate rushed back with him. She stood next to Jack, looking to Locke and awaiting the next step.

"How's this?"
"Perfect." he said, directing Jack towards the hive.

JACK
"Perfect."
Jack took a deep breath as he nodded to Locke. He began to kneel extremely slowly trying not to make any false moves with the bees. "Alright. Just keep still man. I'm going to try to cover the hive," Jack uttered a little louder then a whisper to keep Charlie calm and still.

"This is the most crap idea ever," he grumbled while trying to stay still. "It's never gonna' work."

"Now, pull yourself together, son." said Locke, attempting encouragement. If Charlie was too scared and jumpy, and it certainly wasn't going to work.
