The Tiger Pit Location found in box G4 below: Each box is 3 miles by 3 miles. It takes an hour to walk 3 miles. But also keep in mind that hiking (like that really steep hill to get to higher ground) will take a heck of a lot longer and that if you're running (like from some jungle thing), that you'll get somewhere faster.

The night before, Ana-Lucia had been tempted to stay out in the jungle rather than waste time trekking back to camp to sleep. It didn't take her long to realise that would have been a foolish idea though. For one, she had run out of water and had no food. Secondly, people might start to wonder (emphasis on might since she hadn't gone out of her way to make friends here) where she was and come looking for her which was not what she wanted right now. There would be questions. About what she was doing and why. Ana felt sure most people wouldn't understand her motives for digging a big ass pit in a secluded part of the island. Sure, she could say it was a trap for animals - for food - but then the questions would be more along the lines of 'then why are you keeping it secret?'. She could say it was intended to put people in so she could interogate them - the truth in fact - but then she'd be carted off to Jack with claims that she'd gone a little insane in the heat. Maybe she had. But something was definately up with this island and someone knew something about that. All it was going to take was a little effort, time and patience to find out exactly who.
And the who lead to the third reason for going back to camp. To keep an eye on Ethan. Among others. He'd managed to push all her buttons during their run in the previous day and it had been all Ana could do to stop herself rising further to his bait. Every instinctive bone in her body told her he was dangerous, yet no-one else in camp had been able to see it. Was she wrong? Unlikely. Ana's instincts were rarely wrong. She reasoned that he was just that good at playing the rest of them like the fools they were.
It was lucky that she had gone back to camp the night before, as the revelation that Jack had found a source of water had been announced. At least they wouldn't die of dehydration now. More likely the way things had been going, they'd just kill each other off one by one.
Ana couldn't help thinking about Jack now as she trudged back to her hole. He'd come a long way from when they'd first met in that airport bar. Seemed like months ago now. She realised that she hadn't spoken to him much in the last few days and she missed that. She'd been too preoccupied with Jake and Ethan and her own ideas of what was important, whilst Jack had become the camps unofficial leader, focusing on what they really needed. Medical help, food, shelter and now water. Not forgetting hope. Something Ana was rapidly losing in everything. Jack was a natural at taking charge, whether he liked it or not and that gave her comfort. It was weight on her shoulders that she did not want, but would have inevitably taken if Jack had not been around.
Finally, she reached the dirt pile she'd unearthed the day before, pausing with her hands on her hips to look at what she'd done already. It was wide enough now for what she had planned, but nowhere near deep enough. Jack swiftly left her thoughts as a plan of action pushed him out of the way. Firstly, she needed to construct some way to get in and out of the hole so she wouldn't be stuck. A ladder would have been ideal, but they don't tend to grow on trees. So Ana decided that a knotted length of vines would do, tied to a tree trunk nearby. Secondly, she was going to finish digging down. It had to be deep because if she intended to put Ethan in it (and he was the tallest person in camp) she had to make it so he couldn't reach the edges. And lastly, her prison pit needed a barred roof than she could pin down to prevent any such escape attempts. Bamboo lengths and vine would be good enough for that.
So Ana set about her tasks like a woman with a mission. Determind not to stop until her work was complete. She'd heard many of the camp were planning on heading off to fetch water which meant that there'd be even less likelihood of someone stumbling across her little project. Severin was stuck back at camp with his injured knee which meant that he wouldn't come looking for her either. He was probably one of the few who might be concerned about her disappearance yesterday. Though she had gotten a few odd looks when she returned to camp last night, caked head to toe in dirt and sweat. No-one asked her about it and Ana offered no explanation. It would be the same today.

WALTER
"Nice hole," the old man said, admiring from behind her. He had wondered what Ana had been up to and, with age he had found his body needed less and less sleep. So at the first sign of daylight he had set out to discover what she had been doing.
"But why?" he asked.

"Jeez!" Ana involunatarily yelled, finding Walter had suddenly appeared from nowhere. For a second she could have throttled him with the handmade vine rope in her hands. The shock disappeared instantly though and Ana gave him a teasing smile.
"Kinda stealthy for an old guy, huh. You sure you really need a walking stick?"
She knew she was avoiding his question, probably just as much as he did. Her experience of the old man told her he'd just keep asking until she gave him some kind of answer and her mind was already working to decide what explanation she'd give him. Right now, it was fifty/fifty truth or fiction.

WALTER
"Are you sure you need a hole that deep?" he responded, smiling. "And a walking stick is a good idea. Lets ya know where the ground is before you get there."

Ana's gaze drifted to the hole she was sat beside as if contemplating what she'd dug.
"I'm hoping to catch some big game." She turned to face Walter again. "Need a big hole."

WALTER
"Yeah, well, I don't reckon polar bears taste too good, so got to assume you're going after better game," he said with a smirk. "So, once it's steep and deep enough, how do you plan to get out?"

Ana answered the old man by tightening the last knot on her vine ladder and tossing the end of it down one side of the ditch. She'd already tied the other end to a sturdy tree trunk close by, giving it an extra tug to make sure it was secure enough to take her weight.
"What do you think?" She asked, half out of pride in her handywork and half actually wondering if Walter was impressed.

WALTER
"Makes me think of France," he said with a sad smile. "Had to dig a number of these in the day. Guess there's a new kind of war going on now, eh?"

In that one moment, Walter seemed suddenly older than Ana had ever seen him. She guessed that he looked just about the right age to have been enlisted for WW2, the mention of France added weight to that assumption.
"An army man?" Ana asked him, her curiousity peaked by his comment.

"Let's just say I've seen my share of battles," the old man responded slyly.

"I think you might see a few more before we leave this place." Ana commented, tossing her shovel into the pit and cautiously climbing down the vine into the hole.

WALTER
"At the rate you're going," he said with a smirk as he watched he climb down. "There ain't a doubt in my mind."
He paused, coughed, and then looked down at her.
"So, who's the pit for?" he said, finally coming to his real question.

Ana crouched down and picked up her shovel again, then looked up to face Walter after his very to the point question. She thought for a moment.
"The one person in camp who's lying most about who they really are." Her voice was stony cold. She was tempted to actually tell him Ethan was going to be the first guest, feeling like he could be trusted enough to keep it to himself, but then she had no idea whether or not other people were listening in. The jungle was dense and it would be easy for someone to sneak up and eavesdrop. Hell, Walter himself had proven that already.

"I was just making sure you weren't putting Gwen down here," he said with a scuff, knowing that, in all likelyhood he[/i] might be the biggest liar on this island, but she didn't know that.

Ana couldn't help but laugh out loud at that.
"Oh, don't tempt me. As much as I'd love to leave her down here where I can't hear her, she's actually one of the few we crashed with that's not pretending to be something she isn't." She started digging, then stopped and looked up at Walter again. "Just don't tell her I said that."

WALTER
"That may be true," he said with a smirk as he leaned against his stick. "A lot of people aren't what they say we are. It's like that Billy Joel song... about putting on the masks. My damn son can't get enough of that alke'."

"Can I ask you a question?" Ana said, leaning on the shovel. "Who do you think the handcuffs were for?" She let the question hang for a moment before continuing. "There was a Marshall on board the flight. My experience tells me he wasn't just there for no reason. Someone was supposed to be in those cuffs when the plane crashed."

WALTER
"I suppose there's the possibility that the person they belonged to was dead," he said, looking away. "I mean, it's not like a plane crash can magically remove handcuffs."
